Tripod Mount Collar
Spotting scopes are not intended for looking at the sun, or any other intense light source. Such viewing could damage the retina and cornea of your eyes—even to the point of causing blindness.
Attaching the spotting scope to a tripod
Mount the Nomad spotting scope on a sturdy tripod or car window mount for steady viewing. Simply secure the tripod mounting foot on the tripod head or quick-release plate of a standard camera or camcorder tripod.
The Nomad spotting scope uses a standard 1/4”–20 screw thread on the underside of the mounting foot.
Adjustable eyecups
The Nomad’s eyepiece features long eye relief and an adjustable rubber eyecup for comfortable viewing whether or not you wear eyeglasses or sunglasses.
With eyeglasses or sunglasses, fold back the eyecup.
Without eyeglasses or sunglasses, keep the eyecup fully extended.

Adjustable 20–60x zoom eyepiece
The Nomad features a versatile 20–60x eyepiece that brings distant details into view. Refocusing is normally required when you change the magnification.
1. Increase magnification by turning the adjustment ring to the right (clockwise).
2. Decrease magnification by turning the adjustment ring to the left (counter-clockwise).
Focusing the eyepiece
Focus the Nomad by slowly rotating the focus knob until you see a sharp, clear image through the eyepiece.
Extendable sunshade
This fitted lens hood acts as an effective shield against
stray light. It also helps keep the objective lens free of soiling caused by raindrops or fingerprints.
Caring for the Lenses
Maintain the optical brilliance of the Nomad by keeping the lens surfaces free of dirt, dust, and oils.
Protect Scope Lenses
Make use of the lens covers and view-through case to protect the lenses when not viewing.
Keep Lenses Clean
Along with normal use comes the need to clean the spotting scope lenses. Follow these guidelines for cleaning:
1. Remove any dust or grit from lenses before wiping. Use a can of pressurized air or soft camel hair brush (acrylic optical brushes also work well).
2. Clear lens of smudges, fingerprints, or eyelash oil. Fog the lenses with your own breath and wipe with the non-abrasive lens cloth included with the Nomad spotting scope.
Cleaning fluid and optical paper can also be used. However, you should never use facial tissue, heavy cotton, or flannel clothing on lenses—these materials can scratch the lens surfaces.
