Power Supply Unit SW 800
Item-No. 51 25 88
Intended Use
The power supply unit is intended for connection to low voltage consumer loads to supply a voltage of 3 to 12 V/DC (direct current). The output voltage is stabilised. The mains adapter comes
with different adapters suitable for the most common, low voltage consumer loads. The current
consumption of the consumer load must not exceed the nominal current of the power supply
unit (depending on the voltage setting).
Exceeding this will lead to overloading the power supply unit, if this happens e. g. because of a
short-circuit or of constantly drawing too high a current, the output is regulated down.
The operating voltage of the plug-in power supply is in the range of 100 - 240 V/AC.
Due to the switched-mode power supply technology, a high output current is achieved with a
small size and little weight.
Do not use in adverse ambient conditions. Adverse ambientconditions are:
• Damp or excess air humidity
• Dust and flammable gases, vapours or solvent.
Any use, other than the one described above, may damage the product. Moreover, this involves
hazards such as e.g. short circuit, fire, electric shock, etc. It is not allowed to modify or rebuild
any part of the product!
Observe the safety instructions in their entirety!
Safety Instructions
Please read all of the operating instructions before using the product for the
first time; they contain important information about the correct operation.
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions! We do not assume any liability for any consequential damage!
We do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by
improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions! The warranty
will be void in such cases.
This device left the manufacture’s factory in a safe and perfect condition.
We kindly request the user to observe the safety instructions and warnings contained in the
enclosed operating instructions so this condition is maintained and to ensure safe operation.
Please pay attention to the following symbols:
A triangle containing an exclamation mark indicates important information in these
operating instructions which is to be observed without fail.
This product has been CE tested and complies with the required European
guidelines.
Only to be used in dry indoor areas.
Protection class 2 insulation (double or reinforced insulation)
The unauthorized conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible for reasons of
safety and approval (CE).
If you have doubts about how the equipment should be operated or how to connect it safely,
consult a trained technician.
Observe the safety and operating instructions of any devices you connect to the device, as well
as those you find in the individual chapters of these operating instructions.
Never touch the device with wet or moist hands. There is danger of a life-threatening electric
shock.
Keep the unit out of the reach of children. It is not a toy.
On industrial sites, the accident prevention regulations of the association of the industrial work-
ers’ society for electrical equipment and utilities must be followed.
Since the device generates heat when in use, ensure there is sufficient ventilation provided; do
not cover the housing!!
If you have a reason to believe that the device can no longer be operated safely, disconnect it
immediately and secure it against being operated unintentionally. It can be assumed that safe
operation is no longer possible if:
• the device is visibly damaged,
• the device no longer works and
• the unit was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time or
• it has been subjected to considerable stress in transit.
Follow the safety instructions in the individual chapters or in the operating manuals of any con-
nected devices.
Never turn the device on when it has been taken from a cold into a warm room. Condensation
that forms might destroy your device. Allow the device to reach room temperature before
switching it on.
Getting started
Setting the desired output voltage
Only change the output voltage when disconnected from the mains! Pay
attention to the operating voltage of the consumer load! Further, check that
the changeover switch snaps into place properly at the corresponding voltage range!
Set the changeover switch to the desired direct output voltage. The middle arrow mark indicates
the current range.
Connection of the low-voltage adaptor
Use a low voltage adapter, which is suitable for your consumer load (digital camera etc.).
The polarity can be selected and it can be changed by rotating the plug. The polarity is indi-
cated on the plugs (outer contact/inner contact). Select the correct polarity and bring the arrow
marking on the plug and socket together. The plug now has the specified polarity.
Switch off the consumer load, before you connect it to the plug-in power supply.
Regularly check the technical safety of the device e.g. for damage to the housing.
Disposal
Electronic products are raw material and do not belong in the household waste.
When the device has reached the end of its service life, please dispose of it,
according to the current statutory requirements, at your local collecting site.
Disposal in the domestic waste is not permitted!
Troubleshooting
By purchasing this power supply unit you have acquired a product with state
of the art design that is operationally reliable. Nevertheless, problems or
faults may occur.
Therefore, we would like to describe here how to eliminate any faults. Please,
always follow the safety instructions!
Problem Solution
Connected Is the voltage set correctly?
Load Is the polarity correct?
does not work. Is the power supply unit overloaded?
• Check the technical data for the loads.
Repairs, other than those described, should only be carried out by an authorised
specialist.
