Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the Vodafone Connect Card (VC701SI).
Before using the VC701SI, please read this manual for proper operating instructions.
After reading this manual, store it for future reference.
The VC701SI is W-CDMA compatible.
A personal computer equipped with either a Type II Compact Flash slot or a Type II PC Card
slot (using the PC Card adapter) and running:
Windows XPWindows 2000Windows MeWindows 98 Second Edition
Depending on the peripherals connected and the software used, there may be compatibility
issues even with computers that match the above requirements.

Do not use this product while driving a motor vehicle. This can cause traffic accidents. Using a your handset while driving is prohibited by law. Park in a designated parking area if you wish to use this product in a motor vehicle.

It is possible that the electromagnetic waves produced when using this product can adversely affect implanted pacemakers or defibrillators nearby. Please adhere to the following precautions.
1. If you have an implanted pacemaker or defibrillator, be sure to use and carry this product at least 22 cm away from the location of the implanted device.
2. Do not use this product in a crowded commuter train or other crowded area because you might come in contact with persons using implanted pacemakers or defibrillators. It is possible for the electromagnetic waves used in this product to adversely affect the operation of implanted pacemakers and similar devices.

3. Please observe the following instructions when in a medical institution.
• Do not bring this product into an operating room, intensive care unit (ICU) or coronary care unit (CCU).
• Do not use this product while in a hospital ward.
Do not use this product next to any medical devices, even in places like a hospital lobby.
• If the medical institution has its own set of rules about devices that must not be used or brought into the building, you must abide by those rules.
4. When using medical devices other than implanted pacemakers or defibrillators outside of a medical institution (such as when recuperating at home) please contact the manufacturer of the devices in question to determine any possible effects from electromagnetic waves.
The content in this manual complies with the recommendations outlined in "Guidelines for Preventing Adverse Effects on Medical Devices Due to the Electromagnetic Waves Present During Cellular Phone Use" (published by the Council on Preventing Unwanted Electromagnetic Interference, April 1997) and uses information taken from "A Research Study Report on the Effects of Electromagnetic Waves on Medical Devices" (Association of Radio Industries and Businesses, March 2001).

Do not use if product has any effects on motor vehicle. When using this product in a motor vehicle, there are rare cases where this product can adversely affect the electrical devices in the motor vehicle. As this can affect the ability to safely operate the motor vehicle, do not use this product in this case.
Do not place this product on a shaky, slanted, or other unstable surface. This can result in injuries due to this product falling.
Do not touch this product with sweaty hands, or store in the pocket of sweaty clothing. This can result in this product emitting heat or malfunctioning.
Do not use this product in crowded places. This product's antenna might hit other people, causing injury. In addition, using this product in a crowd may be a nuisance to those around you.

When using this product, maintain a minimum distance of 1 cm from your body.

Be careful not to hurt your hands or fingers when removing the USIM card.
Use the USIM card only with Vodafone K.K. approved devices. Using this product in
non-approved devices can lead to data loss or malfunction. For information about approved products, please contact Customer Service ( see page 29).
Please store this product out of the reach of children. Children could be injured if they were to accidentally swallow this product.
Do not use unnecessary force when inserting or removing the USIM card.

heat or smoke, and in the loss of data or other malfunctions.
