2.2 Principle of operation

The external ventilation is an accessory or retrot part for VEGABAR series 50 and 60 pressure transmitters. It is used for instruments with relative pressure measuring ranges as well as the following aluminium and stainless steel housings.
l Aluminium single chamber housing l Aluminium double chamber housing l Stainless steel housing, electropolished l Stainless steel precision casting, single chamber housing l Stainless steel precision casting, double chamber housing
The external ventilation is screwed into the sensor housing instead of the protective cover of the measuring cell ventilation.
Functional principle
The external ventilation protects the ventilation opening against pollution and moisture and ensures also the eectivity of the lter element.
Mounting can be carried out at any time. It is not necessary to demount the pressure transmitter or interrupt the power supply.

3.1 Mounting instructions

For mounting, a spanner with SW (spanner width) 11 and 13 is required.
The sensor housings have two lter elements. The upper one near the cable glands is used to ventilate the electronics housing. The lower lter element in the area of the base is used to ventilate the measuring cell.
The external ventilation is generally used for the lower lter element. The following illustration shows the mounting location.

3.2 Mounting steps

Proceed as follows:
1 Loosen, unscrew and remove the plastic protective cover with
spanner SW 11.
The protective cover is no longer required. Filter and O-ring must remain in the opening. The opening must be free of dirt.
2 Screw the external ventilation manually into the thread. Tighten
with spanner SW 13.
