2. Safety Information

FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY

When using the carpet washer, basic safety precautions should always be observed, including the following:

1.Do not leave the carpet washer unattended when plugged in. Unplug it from socket when not in use.

2.To prevent electric shock do not use outdoors.

3.Nottobe usedas a toy.Childrenshouldbe supervisedto ensurethattheydo notplaywith the appliance.

4.This applianceis notintendedfor use by persons (includingchildren)with reducedphysical,sensoryor mentalcapabilities,or lack of experienceand knowledge,unlesstheyhavebeen givensupervisionor instructionconcerningthe use of the applianceby a personresponsiblefor theirsafety.

5.Use only as described in this manual.

6.Do not use the carpet washer if it has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors or dropped into water. Do not use the carpet washer with a damaged cord or plug. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or a recommended Service Agent to avoid hazard and invalidating the guarantee.

19.Store indoors put away after use to prevent tripping accidents.

20.Using improper voltage may result in damage to the motor and possible injury to the user. The correct voltage is listed on the rating label.

21.A hazard may occur if the carpet washer runs over the power supply cord.

22.To prevent dirty water from running into the motor, do not hold the appliance upside-down or lay on its side. Use appliance in normal cleaning position.

23.Takeextra care when cleaning on stairs.

24.Do not carry appliance while motor is running.

WARNING: Always switch off and unplug your ! machine from the electrical outlet before filling

the clean water tank, emptying the dirty water tank, before assembling, opening, before connecting/ disconnecting the attachments, or carrying out maintenance or troubleshooting checks.

NOTE: Carpets should be dry vacuumed ! thoroughly before washing.

7.Do not pull or carry by cord. Do not use the cord as a handle, close a door on the cord or pull

cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run the carpet washer over the cord. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.

8.Do not unplug by pulling on the cord.

9.Do not handle the plug or carpet washer with wet hands.

10.Do not put any objects into openings or operate with openings blocked, keep them free of anything that may reduce airflow.

11.Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and all parts of the body away from openings and moving parts.

12.Do not use the carpet washer on any glowing, burning or smoking particles.

13.Do not use without the solution tank and dirty water tank in place.

14.Turn off all controls before unplugging.

15.Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids such as petrol, or use in areas where they may be present.

16.Keep the unit on the floor.

17.Do not use an extension cord.

18.Do not attempt to remove blockages with sharp objects as they may cause damage.

IMPORTANT:Cleaning filters maintains cleaning ! performance. Vax recommends that your filters

should be checked and cleaned periodically. If your filters are washable make sure they are completely dry before inserting back into the machine.

This machine is intended for household use only, and NOT for commercial or industrial use.

Motor Thermostat

!

IMPORTANT: The motor is equipped with a

thermal cut-out. If for any reason, the vacuum

cleaner should over-heat, the thermostat will automatically turn the unit off. Should this occur, unplug the vacuum cleaner from the electrical outlet and turn off the switch. Remove the dirt container and empty. Clean the filters. Allow the cleaner to cool for approximately one (1) hour. To re-start, plug into an electrical outlet and switch back on.

Line up mid-section with base unit and slot into place (Fig 3/6).

Insert handle into mid-section ensuring that the solution trigger is at the back of the machine and the screw hole in the handle is lined up with the screw hole in the midsection (Fig 3/7).

Insert and tighten (Fig 3/8).
