Addendum To The Traditions Warranty and Shooting Instructions

Please familiarize yourself completely with the gun before loading.

Before the initial firing be sure to disassemble and clean completely.

The Buckhunter Pro™In-Line Pistol is a muzzleloading pistol comprised of two major assemblies: 1. The barrel
assembly which consists of the rifled barrel with sights, breech plug, and the forearm with ramrod. 2. The frame
assembly which houses all of the internal firing mechanisms and the hammer block thumb safety. The grips are
attached to the rear of the frame which also houses the coil mainspring.

DISASSEMBLY AND CLEANING I

NSTRUCTIONS:

Thoroughly clean your new Traditions Buckhunter Pro™In-Line Pistol prior to and after
shooting. The pistol should be disassembled into the two major assemblies.

To Disassemble:

1. Insure that the nipple is decapped and place the hammer in the half-cock position. Verify that the pistol is

completely unloaded by placing the ramrod into the barrel. Mark the ramrod at the muzzle and then lay
the ramrod alongside the barrel. The end of the ramrod should reach to the barrel-frame junction.

2. Locate the takedown bolt on the left side of the receiver. Using a 3 millimeter hex wrench, loosen the bolt
approximately 4 or 5 revolutions.

3. Using a small mallet or screw driver handle, lightly tap the head of the bolt-assembly driving it into the
frame. Note: It may be necessary to loosen the bolt a little more in order to accomplish this.

4. Tilt the pistol onto its left side. At this point the bolt-assembly should fall out of its hole. Note: If the
bolt-assembly doesn’t readily fall out, verify steps 2 and 3. Do not attempt to push the bolt assembly from
the right side.

5. Grasp the barrel and forearm in one hand and with a wooden or plastic mallet lightly tap on the trigger
guard to separate the barrel from the frame. Once loosened, it should be possible to separate the two
pieces by hand.

6. Remove the forearm from the barrel by removing the screw located underneath the forearm.
Note: To remove the forearm, the barrel must be free of the frame and the ramrod removed.

7. Remove the nipple from the breech plug using a properly sized nipple wrench.

8. Remove the breech plug using two adjustable wrenches. Place one wrench on the barrel flats and one

wrench on the breech plug flats. Turn the breech plug counterclockwise to loosen and remove.

9. Remove the pistol grip from the frame by removing the screw located on the back of the pistol grip.
Carefully pull the grip away from the frame.

Do not disassemble the pistol any further!

Do not attempt to remove any of the internal firing mechanism.

Do not alter or remove the thumb safety.

To Reassemble:

10. Replace forearm and pistol grip and retaining screws. Line up and insert the barrel into the frame until it is

fully seated. Light tapping on the muzzle with a mallet will facilitate this.

11. Place the bolt-assembly (as a unit) into the hole in the left side of the frame.
Note: It will facilitate tightening if the bolt is screwed into the bolt assembly as far as possible yet still
allowing slack for further tightening.

12. Tighten the bolt. This often requires sidewards pressure on the hex wrench in order to prevent the base
of the assembly from rotating. This tact will require a little experimenting with variations in techniques.

Advice: To guard against cracking, take care not to over tighten the screws that hold

wooden forearm and grip. Take care not to over-tighten the nipple.

STOP!

Do not cap the pistol until you are ready to fire and the thumb safety is engaged.

FUNCTION AND OPERATION:

Before loading your new Traditions pistol take some time to familiarize yourself with the
operation of the hammer, trigger and the hammer block safety system.

1. Insure the pistol is unloaded and unprimed (uncapped) and the hammer at rest against the frame.

2. Slowly pull back the hammer until the first audible click is heard. This is the “Half-Cock” position.

Note: The “Half-Cock” position is not a safety and should not be used as one.

3. Pull the hammer all the way to the rear until a second click is heard. This is the “Full-Cock” position.

Note: When the hammer is in the “Full-Cock” position the pistol is ready to fire.

4. To engage the thumb safety, position the hammer in the full-cock position against the frame. Holding

the pistol in your right hand use your right thumb, rotate the safety (located on the left side of the
frame) all the way back, insuring that the red dot on the frame is covered by the safety lever.

5. To fire the pistol it will be necessary to release (far forward) the safety before the hammer can be pulled.

The hammer block safety prevents movement of the hammer only. If the trigger is intentionally

or inadvertently pulled to the rear when the hammer safety is disengaged the pistol will fire.

The hammer block safety is (as all mechanical devices are) subject to failure if mistreated,

neglected or altered. Before each and every use of the pistol, check the function of this

safety before loading the pistol. If the safety is not working correctly do not use the pistol.

Seek professional gunsmithing help or return it to Traditions for service.
