Toshiba’s Canvio™ Portable Hard Drive product line is an
easy-to-use computer backup solution with up to 1 Terabyte
(TB1) of storage capacity to protect large amounts of digital
content being created and stored on computers.
Smaller than a postcard and weighing about 6 ounces, the
Canvio™ appeals to consumers with diverse digital comfort
levels - it’s easy to use with simple plug-and-play operation
for novices and oers customizable options for tech-savvy
users. With an easy setup process and “set-it-and-forget-it”
operation, the Canvio™ product line can automatically and
regularly back up a computer while in use.
Featuring Windows*-based NTI® BackupNow EZ™ software,
upgraded with improved search capabilities and simpler stepby-step restore functionality to retrieve lost les, the Canvio™
oers advanced users even more customization aspects
than previous Toshiba personal storage products, including
extensive backup options, advanced restore functionalities,
and an ability to overwrite specic original les. e Canvio™
also provides an option for complete system backup, enabling
users to restore select les or the entire computer, even if the
Windows* operating system is unable to start.

One Gigabyte (1GB) means 109 = 1,000,000,000 bytes and One Terabyte (1TB) means 1012 =
1,000,000,000,000 bytes using powers of 10. A computer operating system, however, reports
storage capacity using powers of 2 for the definition of 1 GB = 230 = 1,073,741,824 bytes, and
therefore shows less storage capacity. Available storage capacity will also be less if the computer
includes one or more pre-installed operating systems, pre-installed software applications, or media
content. Actual formatted capacity may vary.

While most systems provide sufficient power over the USB port for the Toshiba Portable External
Hard Drive, a few manufacturers and some older systems limit this power. If you find that your
Toshiba Portable External Hard Drive does not spin up, you may require a USB “Y” cable. This
cable combines the power from two USB ports to provide ample power to your drive. Please
contact Toshiba SDD Technical Support for information on obtaining a “Y” cable.
