When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be fo l l owed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury to persons, i n c l u d i n g the following:
• Read all instructions before using toaster.
• Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles.
• Do not immerse toaster, cord or plug in water or other liquid.
• This toaster is not for use by children.
• Do not operate unattended.
• Oversize foods, metal foil packages, or metal utensils must not be inserted in this toaster. Remove all protective wrappings prior to placing in toaster.
• Avoid using items with “runny” frostings, fillings, icings or cheese. This includes pre-buttered foods. When these substances melt, they cause a sticky build-up and may result in a risk of fire.
• Use toaster in an open area with 4-6 inches air space above and on all sides for air circulation. Do not allow toaster to touch or be covered by flammable materials including curtains, draperies, towels, walls and toaster covers, etc., while in operation.
• Do not attempt to dislodge food when toaster is plugged into an outlet.
• Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before cleaning.
• Do not clean with metal scouring pads. Pieces can break off the pad and touch electrical parts creating a risk of electrical shock.
• Do not place any cord, plug or body of this toaster under water or other liq­uid. See instructions for cleaning.
• Do not operate any damaged appliance.Do not operate with a damaged cord or plug or after the toaster malfunctions, or has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Return toaster to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or mechanical adjustment.
• Use attachments only if recommended by Toastmaster Inc.
• Do not use outdoors or when standing in a damp area.
• Do not use toaster for other than intended use.
• Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot surfaces.
• Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
• Failure to clean crumb tray may result in a risk of fire. (Refer to cleaning instructions.)

C AU T I O N : A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of person-
a l injury resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Extension cords are available from local hardware stores and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is required, special care and caution is necessary. Also the cord must be: (1) marked with an electrical rat­ing of 125 V and at least 13A., 1625 W., and (2) the cord must be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over accidentally.
POLARIZED PLUG: This appliance has a polarized plug, (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature to reduce the risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug.If it still does not fit, contact a qualified elec­trician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.
ELECTRIC POWER: If the electric circuit is overloaded with other appliances, your appliance may not operate p r o p e rl y. It should be operated on a separa t e e l e c t rical circuit from other appliances.

GETTING TO KNOWYOUR TOASTER
TOASTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR BREAD BOX TOASTER
Please fill out information that follows warranty. Your wide slot toaster is designed with an extra long, high, and wide slot so you
can toast your favorite bread-machine breads.It also comes with self-adjusting bread racks to adjust to different sizes of bread and baked goods. Please fol­low directions carefully.
1. Before using for the first time, remove all packing materials and labels.Wipe
down the exterior with a damp cloth and allow to dry thoroughly.
2. BEFORE TOASTING FOR THE FIRST TIME, preheat the toaster without
inserting any bread. This will disperse the odor characteristic of new heat­ing elements.

3. Before toasting a food item, turn the toast color selector to desired setting.
4. Place bread or baked goods in slot and depress toast lever until it locks into
position. The self adjusting bread racks will automatically adjust to center the food for even browning.When toasting one slice, place in the middle of the slot. NOTE:For frozen food, select the setting, then depress the defrost button. The toasting process will automatically toast for 20-30 seconds longer to assure that the item will be defrosted as well as toasted. NOTE:The Toastmaster Bread Box®Deep & Wide Toaster has LED indica­tor lights that will illuminate as soon as the toasting process begins.These lights will go out one by one until the toasting process is complete.
5. The toaster will pop up automatically when the desired degree of toasting
has been reached, or press the cancel button to stop toasting. The beeper will sound when toast is done. It is not necessary to wait for the toaster to cool before reloading.
CARE AND CLEANING
1. Unplug toaster from outlet and allow to cool thoroughly before cleaning.
Toast lever must be in the “up” position before attaching or disconnecting the plug from the outlet.
2. To remove crumbs, lightly shake the toaster so the crumbs fall into the
crumb tray at the bottom of the toaster. Open the crumb tray and brush out crumbs. Close crumb tray.
3. To clean the exterior of the toaster, simply wipe with a damp sponge or cloth
and dry thoroughly.
Any servicing requiring disassembly other than the above cleaning must be performed by an authorized service center.
SERVICE INFORMATION
Please refer to warranty statement to determine if in-warranty service applies. This appliance must be serviced by a Toastmaster authorized service center. Unauthorized service will void warranty. Consult your phone directory under “Appliances-Household-Small-Service and Repair,” or call 1-800-947-3744 in the U.S.and Canada, 52-5-397-2848 in Mexico.
If an authorized service center is not available locally, your appliance may be returned postage prepaid to our National Service Center at the address shown on the back of this book.
Products must be adequately protected to avoid shipping damage. Surround your appliance with three inches of protective padding and include a copy of your dated sales receipt and a note explaining the problem you have experi­enced.We recommend insuring your package. No CODs accepted.

rial and workmanship.
This warranty is the only written or express warranty given by Toastmaster Inc.This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You m ay have other rights which va ry from state to state.
