SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
THIS PRODUCT FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY.
CAUTION: A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of personal injury resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Extension cords are available from local hardware stores and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is required, special care and caution is necessary. Also the cord must be: (1) marked with an electrical rating of at least 13 A., 125 V ~,1625 W., and (2) the cord must be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over accidentally.
WARNING—TO REDUCE RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK, UNPLUG BEFORE CLEANING AND WHEN NOT IN USE. DO NOT IMMERSE IN WATER OR OTHER LIQUID.
CAUTION:
1. DO NOT insert fork, knife, or any other metal object into the toaster.
2. DO NOT place foil-wrapped articles in toaster. Remove all protective wrappings prior
to placing in toaster.
3. Avoid using items with “runny” frostings, fillings, icings or cheese. This includes pre-
buttered foods. When these substances melt, they cause a sticky build-up and may result in a risk of fire.
4. DO NOT physically hold down the toast lever. This could cause damage to the toaster
requiring repair by an authorized service center.
TOASTER SENSING MECHANISM
Your toaster is equipped with a unique toasting mechanism which senses bread temperatures and allows better toast control.
Breads have various moisture contents requiring different settings. Raise front lever at any time to check toast color. The best toast is made with bread a day or two old.
TOASTING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Plug cord into any 120 V ~ 50-60 Hz outlet. The unit may emit an odor and/or smoke during first few uses from oils used in manufacturing. This is normal for a new appliance.
2. Set Toast Color Control to the color of toast desired. For first use, set color mid-way between Light and Dark toast color settings. Toast thin-sliced bread on the lighter toast color settings.
3. Insert bread or toaster food into slots and push down toast lever. Note: Use slot marked
when toasting single slice or portion. Use bread slices that
fit freely into toaster slots.
4. When toast is done, it will pop up and the current will shut off automatically.
5. After constant repeated use, or changing to a lighter setting, the lever may not lock down in toasting position. Pause briefly to allow toasting mechanism to cool. It should automatically reset and you may continue toasting.
BAGEL TOASTING INSTRUCTIONS
Your toaster is equipped with a “Bagel Perfect Switch” that reduces the wattage of the outside heating elements. The result is a perfectly toasted bagel or English muffin, the cut side toasted and the bottom side warm and moist.
BAGEL AND ENGLISH MUFFIN TOASTING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Plug cord into any 120 V ~ 50-60 Hz outlet. The unit may emit an odor and/or smoke during first few uses from oils used in manufacturing. This is normal for a new appliance.
2. Set Toast Color Control to the color desired. For first use, set color mid-way between Light and Dark.
3. Slice your bagel or English muffin in half. Place one half into each toaster slot with the cut edge sides facing the center of the toaster. PUSH DOWN ON THE TOAST
LEVER FIRST AND THEN LOWER THE BAGEL SWITCH. NOTES:Use slot marked
when toasting only half a bagel or English muffin.
Use slices that fit freely into toaster slots.
4. When the bagel or muffin is done, the toast lever and bagel switch will pop up and the current will shut off automatically. The Bagel Perfect Toaster’s automatic reset feature returns the toaster to normal operation (full wattage) after each bagel toasting cycle.
5. After constant repeated use, or changing to a lighter setting, the toast lever may not lock down in a toasting position. Pause briefly to allow toasting mechanism to cool. It should automatically reset and you may continue toasting.
ELECTRIC POWER: If electric circuit is overloaded with other appliances, your toaster may not operate properly. When possible, toaster should be operated on a separate electrical circuit than other operating appliances.
CONVENIENCE FOODS TOASTING
Today there are many varieties of packaged convenience food available, both frozen and non-frozen (shelf pastry), which can be toasted in your toaster.
Since individual’s tastes vary, it is difficult to recommend exact toasting settings, however, after a little experimentation you will discover the best setting for your needs. You may also wish to refer to the heating instructions on the food package.
NON-FROZEN SHELF PASTRY
Move color control to a lighter color setting. It may be necessary to vary the position of the color control to compensate for thick foods or those which contain fillings.
FROZEN FOODS
Move the color control to a darker color setting. Due to variation in shape, some items will require different settings. Moving the color control to the right will provide a longer toasting cycle. Thawing frozen foods before toasting will help ensure that the inside of the food is adequately cooked and will prevent the outside from burning. Again, it may be necessary to experiment to accommodate individual tastes.
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Unplug toaster.
2. Wipe outside with soft, damp cloth when toaster is cool. Polish with soft, dry cloth.
3. Open crumb tray in bottom of toaster and brush out crumbs.
Any servicing requiring disassembly other than the above cleaning should be performed by an authorized service center.
