If the inserts are not in the legs please place 1 top and 1 bottom insert into each of the 4 legs supplied.
(Round inset goes to the bottom of the leg and pointed inset goes to the top of the leg.
To the bottom of the brooder hen (Silver side) there are
four leg mounting plates, each one has a clip that you
push to allow the leg to be fitted into the brooder hen.
Push this clip and lower the leg down through the
brooder hen with the flat lower insert going to the
lower side of the brooder hen. Release the clip to lock
the leg in place. Repeat for all 4 legs.
How to Set Up
Plug the unit in and ensure the silver side faces down, allow upto 60
minutes for the brooder hen to get to the correct heat.
ENSURE the brooder hen is a minimum of 3cm above the litter/bedding
you are using for the chicks.

To set the legs follow how to set up previously but knowing
the correct height of the legs is very dependent on the
reaction of the chicks.
At the correct height you will see that the chicks freely go
under the heat lamp with some standing and some sitting
and they will happily come out to feed and drink and then
return under the unit and again sit or happily stand. At their
happiest you will find they are also at their most silent so
cheeping will be at a minimum.
If the brooder hen is set too high then you will see that all
the chicks go underneath and are standing and not as happy
to come out to feed and drink.
You will also find that they often are cheeping excessively to
state they are unhappy about the situation. In this case
lower the brooder hen slightly and check their behavior
again.
Setting the Height of the Legs

If the brooder hen is too low then you may find the chicks
can not get under or if they can but it is therefore too hot for
them they may refuse to go under, then in this case raise
the brooder hen slightly and check their behavior again.
Even if the unit is set at the correct height as the chicks grow
you will need to check daily/weekly their situation and
adjust the height as needed. This should be done a minimum of once per week.
