Contraindications

Air support therapy is not recommended when spinal stability is
a concern.

Indications for Use

This device is intended to help treat and prevent decubitus
ulcers (bedsores) and provide air support therapy.
Models SC402, SC440, SC460 and SC427 are for single
patient use only. Do not reuse. Risk of cross-contamination (e.g.
infection, allergic reaction) if product were to be reused.
Model SC840 is reusable.

A. Preparing the bed

1. Standing at the foot end of the bed, unroll the cushion so
that the air valve will be on the right side.

2. Place the corner straps around the bed mattress.

3. The bed cushion may be inflated with or without a patient
on it. Place a sheet and incontinence pad (if required) over
the cushion.

4. Unscrew the blue cap from the air valve.

B. Inflating Sof•Care cushion with a HCP700 series manual
inflator

1. Unscrew the standard cap and screw the inflator on to the
air valve.

2. Manually inflate the cushion using the number of strokes
indicated on the inflator (approximately 50 strokes for

Sof•Care).

3. Unscrew the inflator and replace standard cap tightly.

4. Place sheet over cushion. Position patient on cushion.

NOTE: Overinflation may damage the bed cushion.

C. Maintaining patient comfort and protection

The Sof•Care Bed Cushion normally has an underinflated

appearance. It may seem to need more air when it really doesn’t.
The best way to determine if the cushion is properly inflated is by
performing a HAND CHECK.

D. Deflating Sof•Care Cushion

1. Unscrew the blue cap.

2. For slow or partial deflation, insert pen point or other device
into one of the four holes in the valve disc. Air will escape
slowly.

3. For fast or complete deflation, pull tab to remove disc from
air valve.

WARNING

Deflate before CPR or CPR will be ineffective.

Caring for Sof•Care Cushions

Sof•Care cushions are easy to maintain. Perform the following

care and cleaning to assure proper performance and reliability.

1. Deflate the Sof•Care cushion prior to cleaning. Clean
cushion with a mild disinfectant or soap and water. Wipe
dry. Do not use solvents or alcohol.

2. Note: Blood and other body fluids must be thoroughly
cleaned from all surfaces before apply disinfectant.

Apply a disinfectant such as a 10% chlorinated bleach solution
(chlorinated bleach with 5.25% sodium hydrochlorite) to the
external surfaces of the overlay. Allow to completely dry. The
solution contact time is what makes disinfection effective. Wipe
down the overlay with a clean, dry cloth to remove excess
disinfectant.

Sof•Care Cushion Warranties

Standard Sof•Care cushions are warranted for 30 days. The
Sof•Care Plus SC427 and SC427E are long term Sof•Care
Bed Cushions and are warranted for 180 days. The Sof•Care
Plus SC840 long term Sof•Care Bed Cushion is warranted for

2 years.

To perform the HAND CHECK:

Place hand under the Bed Cushion, beneath the patient’s

buttocks. Hand must be positioned with palm up and fingers flat.
(If fingers are flexed, the HAND CHECK will be misleading.) If

patient does not touch hand, the Bed Cushion does not require

reinflation. If patient does touch hand, reinflate using an Inflator
or a manual pump and adapter (shown in step “D”) until patient’s
buttocks no longer touch hand.

CAUTION

Perform the HAND CHECK every 8 hours and after each inflation.
Check skin frequently. Consult physician if any redness or skin
break occurs. Serious injury could result if left untreated.

Ce dispositif est prévu pour aider à traiter et prévenir les ulcères

Les modèles SC402, SC440, SC460 et SC427 sont à usage
unique. Ne pas les réutiliser.
Risque de contamination croisée (ex. infection, réaction
allergique) en cas de réutilisation du produit.
Modèle SC840 est réutilisable.

A. Préparation du lit

1. Se tenir au pied du lit et dérouler le coussin de façon à ce
que la valve d’air se trouve du côté droit.

2. Placer les sangles d’angle autour du matelas du lit.

3. Le coussin de lit peut être gonflé que le patient y soit
allongé ou non. Mettre un drap et une alaise (au besoin)
sur le coussin.

4. Dévisser le bouchon bleu de la valve d’air.

B. Gonfler le coussin Sof•Care avec un gonfleur manuel
Stryker de la série HCP700

1. Dévisser le bouchon standard et visser le gonfleur manuel
HCP700 sur la valve d’air.

2. Gonfler le coussin manuellement en actionnant la pompe
conformément aux indications du gonfleur (environ 50

poussées pour Sof•Care).

3. Dévisser le gonfleur HCP700 et replacer le bouchon
standard en le serrant.

4. Placer un drap sur le coussin. Positionner le patient sur le
coussin.

REMARQUE : Surgonfler le coussin peut l’endommager.

C. Maintenir le confort et la protection du patient

Le coussin de lit Sof•Care a normalement une apparence sous

gonflée. Il peut sembler avoir besoin de plus d’air alors que ce
n’est pas le cas. La meilleure façon de déterminer si le coussin
est correctement gonflé est de le vérifier MANUELLEMENT.

D. Dégonfler le coussin Sof•Care

1. Dévisser le bouchon bleu.

2. Pour un dégonflement lent ou partiel, insérer la pointe d’un
stylo ou autre dispositif dans l’un des quatre orifices du
disque de la valve. L’air s’en échappera lentement.

3. Pour un dégonflement rapide ou total, retirer la languette
de la valve d’air.

AVERTISSEMENT

Dégonfler avant toute RCR, sinon elle sera inefficace.

Entretien des coussins Sof•Care

1. Les coussins Sof•Care sont faciles à entretenir. L’entretien
et le nettoyage suivants garantissent une performance et
une fiabilité correctes.

Dégonfler le coussin Sof•Care avant le nettoyage. Nettoyer le

coussin avec un désinfectant doux ou du savon et de l’eau.
Essuyer. Ne pas utiliser de solvant ou d’alcool.

2. Remarque : Le sang et tout autre liquide biologique doivent
être bien retirés de toutes les surfaces avant d’appliquer
un désinfectant.

Appliquer un désinfectant tel qu’une solution à 10 % d’eau de
javel chlorée (eau de javel chlorée avec 5,25 % d’hypochlorite
de sodium) sur les surfaces externes du revêtement. Laisser
sécher complètement. Le temps de contact de la solution assure
l’efficacité de la désinfection. Essuyer le revêtement avec un
chiffon propre et sec pour retirer tout excédent de désinfectant.

Garantie des coussins Sof•Care

Les coussins standards Sof•Care sont garantis pendant 30
jours. Les Sof•Care Plus SC427 et SC427E sont des coussins
de lit Sof•Care de longue durée et sont garantis 180 jours. Le
coussin de lit Sof•Care Plus SC840 longue durée est garanti

deux ans.

Pour une vérification MANUELLE :

Placer la main sous le coussin de lit, au niveau des fesses du
patient. La main doit être placée la paume vers le haut et les
doigts à plat. (Si les doigts sont pliés, la vérification MANUELLE
sera erronée.) Si le patient ne touche pas la main, il n’est pas
nécessaire de regonfler le coussin de lit. Si le patient touche la
main, regonfler à l’aide du gonfleur ou d’une pompe manuelle et
de l’adapteur (illustré aux étapes D) jusqu’à ce que les fesses
du patient ne touchent pas la main.
Vérifier MANUELLEMENT toutes les huit heures et après chaque
gonflage.

MISE EN GARDE

Vérifier la peau fréquemment. Consulter un médecin en cas de
rougeur ou de lésion cutanée.

En l’absence de traitement, il pourrait en résulter de sérieuses
blessures.

Controindicazioni

Il trattamento antidecubito mediante dispositivi di supporto ad
aria è sconsigliato quando vi sono problemi relativi alla stabilità
della colonna vertebrale.

Indicazioni per l’uso

Questo dispositivo è progettato come ausilio nel trattamento e
nella prevenzione delle piaghe da decubito (ulcere da pressione),
nonché per fornire una terapia mediante presidi ad aria.
I modelli SC402, SC440, SC460 e SC427 sono esclusivamente
monopaziente. Non riutilizzare.
Se il prodotto viene riutilizzato esiste il rischio di contaminazione
crociata (ad es., infezione, reazione allergica).
Modello SC840 è riutilizzabile.

A. Preparazione del letto

1. Posizionarsi ai piedi del letto e srotolare il sovramaterasso
in modo che la valvola dell’aria si trovi sul lato destro.

2. Sistemare le cinghie d’angolo attorno al materasso del letto.

3. Il sovramaterasso può venire gonfiato con o senza il paziente
posizionato sopra. Posizionare un lenzuolo ed un ausilio per
l’incontinenza (se necessario) sul sovramaterasso.

4. Svitare il tappo blu dalla valvola dell’aria.

B. Gonfiaggio del sovramaterasso Sof•Care con un gonfiatore
manuale Stryker serie HCP700

1. Svitare il tappo standard ed avvitare il gonfiatore manuale
serie HCP700 alla valvola dell’aria.

2. Gonfiare manualmente il sovramaterasso usando il numero

di colpi indicato sul gonfiatore (50 colpi circa per Sof•Care).

3. Svitare il gonfiatore serie HCP700 e riavvitare saldamente
il tappo standard.

4. Posizionare il lenzuolo sul sovramaterasso. Posizionare il
paziente sul sovramaterasso.

NOTA:

• Un gonfiaggio eccessivo potrebbe danneggiare il
sovramaterasso.

ATTENZIONE

Controllare frequentemente le condizioni della cute. Consultare
un medico in caso di rossore o eruzione cutanea.

Il mancato trattamento potrebbe provocare lesioni gravi.

D. Sgonfiaggio del sovramaterasso Sof•Care

1. Svitare il tappo blu.

2. Per uno sgonfiaggio lento o parziale, inserire la punta di
una penna oppure un altro dispositivo in uno dei quattro fori
nel disco della valvola. L’aria uscirà lentamente.

3. Per uno sgonfiaggio veloce o completo, tirare la linguetta
per rimuovere il disco dalla valvola dell’aria.

AVVERTENZA

Sgonfiare prima di praticare una RCP (rianimazione
cardiopolmonare) o la RCP non avrà efficacia.

Cura dei sovramaterassi Sof•Care

I sovramaterassi Sof•Care si mantengono facilmente. Effettuare

le operazioni di cura e pulizia che seguono per garantire
prestazioni adeguate ed affidabili.

1. Sgonfiare il sovramaterasso Sof•Care prima della pulizia.
Pulire il sovramaterasso con un disinfettante leggero o con
acqua e sapone. Asciugare con un panno. Non utilizzare
solventi o alcool.

2. Nota: ripulire accuratamente tutte le superfici da sangue e
altri fluidi corporei prima di applicare il disinfettante.

Applicare un disinfettante quale una soluzione 10% di
candeggiante al cloro (candeggina a base di cloro con ipoclorito
di sodio al 5,25%) alle superfici esterne del rivestimento. Lasciare
asciugare completamente. L’efficacia della disinfezione dipende
dalla durata del contatto con la soluzione. Per rimuovere
eventuale disinfettante in eccesso, strofinare il rivestimento con
un panno pulito ed asciutto.

C. Mantenimento del comfort e della protezione del paziente

In genere, il sovramaterasso Sof•Care presenta un aspetto

sottogonfiato. Potrebbe sembrare che necessiti di aria
supplementare mentre in realtà non è così. Il modo migliore
per stabilire se il sovramaterasso è correttamente gonfiato è di
effettuare un CONTROLLO MANUALE.

Come effettuare un CONTROLLO MANUALE:

Posizionare la mano sotto il sovramaterasso, al di sotto delle
natiche del paziente. La mano va posizionata con il palmo rivolto
verso l’alto e le dita tese. (Se le dita sono flesse, il CONTROLLO
MANUALE non sarà attendibile.) Se il paziente non è a contatto
con la mano, il sovramaterasso non richiede gonfiaggio
aggiuntivo. Se il paziente è a contatto con la mano, gonfiare
nuovamente con un gonfiatore o con una pompa manuale ed un
adattatore (come illustrato nei passi “D”) fino a non avvertire più
il contatto delle natiche del paziente con la mano.
Effettuare un CONTROLLO MANUALE ogni 8 ore e dopo ogni
gonfiaggio.
