OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR STREAMLIGHT STRION
Thank you for selecting the “Strion,” a new concept in portable lights. As with any fine
tool, reasonable care and maintenance of this product will provide years of dependable
service.
Please read this manual before using your “Strion.” It includes important safety and
operating instructions and should be saved.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
■ Push tail button for momentary operation.
■ With one hand, rotate tail cap clockwise with thumb and forefinger for steady on.
■ Rotate tail cap counterclockwise two (2) turns for storage.
■ Rotate face cap to adjust focus to desired beam.
■ To insert Strion into the charger, place the barrel between the charging arms with the
charge triangle in the proper position and pull the head between the charger arms
until it locks in position.
■ Recessed charge screws on the head of Strion light interface with the charger
contacts. However, do not short these contacts. If for some reason the battery does
become shorted the internal safety circuit will protect the system. If this occurs the
light may have to be placed into the charger to reactivate and make the battery
functional again.

A Strion battery will run 60-70 minutes continuously and recharge hundreds of times.
When the run time consistently falls below forty (40) minutes you may want to install a
new battery. It is normal to experience a temporary reduction in capacity at temperatures
below freezing. These batteries experience no “memory” effect but are not well suited
for “standby” use. We recommend using your flashlight often as lithium-ion batteries
prefer to be regularly charged and discharged. Store the battery at low temperature in a
discharged state for best recovery.
The Strion battery technology requires a safety circuit that prevents discharging the
battery below a certain voltage. As the battery runs down and approaches this level the
lamp will shut off. The voltage will read zero, but the battery is not bad. The light must
first be recharged before the bulb will light again or voltage can be measured at the
battery.
WARNING: Only use genuine Streamlight
manufacturer’s replacement battery will affect the product performance and safety.
NOTE: The lithium-ion rechargeable battery contained in this product may be recyclable.
At the end of its useful life, under various country and state laws, it may be illegal to
dispose of this battery in the municipal solid waste stream. Check with your local solid
waste officials for details in your area for recycling options for proper disposal. Do not
incinerate, crush or immerse in liquid.

BULB FACTS
Bulb Shut-off Warning: At the end of available run time the built-in battery safety circuit
will automatically turn the flashlight “off.” The bulb is not burned out, but the light must
be first recharged before the bulb will light again. Remember to turn the tail switch off
before recharging.
BULB REPLACEMENT
1. Allow the bulb to cool before attempting replacement (Wear eye protection.)

GENERAL MAINTENANCE
■ Keep all threads and O-rings lubed with silicon grease.
■ O-ring area between tail cap and tail button must remain clean and free of particles to
maintain proper function.
■ The tempered glass lens is replaceable by unscrewing the reflector from the face cap
with an appropriate spanner wrench. When reinstalling the reflector
way down to the positive stop to seat properly
■ Battery must remain free to move back and forth inside barrel to maintain proper
switching function.
■ Keep flashlight and charger contacts clean at all times. Poor contact can cause
charger malfunction. An abrasive pencil eraser works well to clean the contacts.

CHARGER MOUNTING:

■ Most secure mounting position is with the light vertical and head up.

LED CHARGE INDICATOR:
■ With the Strion light inserted properly the LED on the charger should light, indicating a
proper charge path. It may take a second or two for the LED to light when the Strion is
first inserted.

■ Charged...LED pulses shortly every second.
■ Charge time is approximately 2.5 hours.
IMPORTANT: Charging temperature is between 20°F and 115°F. A safety circuit prevents
charge outside that range.
■ Temperatures outside this range may also cause the charge indicator to temporarily
function abnormally
■ It is normal for the indicator to switch between steady and blink as the battery is
“topped off.”
■ There is no danger of overcharge. The Strion is designed to be in the charger
continuously when not in use.

Installing A Direct Wire Charger
The 12V DC Direct Wire Charge Cord (#22050) is offered for those who would like to
permanently mount a Streamlight charger in their vehicle.
Before making an electrical connection in a vehicle, keep in mind that a shorted auto
battery can deliver hundreds of amperes. This can easily start a fire. Make all
connections with insulated lugs or other connectors intended for such use. Be sure your
installation is fused.
When charging, the Strion draws a constant .6 amperes from a vehicle but very little
current when charged. The charger may be connected directly to the battery or through
the ignition switch. Use a 1-5 amp fuse in either case.
When connecting the charger to a fuse block the positive lead goes to the connector that
is dead with the fuse removed.
The striped power lead is positive and the unmarked lead is negative. Since the charger
body is electrically isolated from the charge circuit, positive ground installations are not a
problem. The Strion has safety protection and if connected in reverse polarity simply
won’t work until connected properly.
