1 Introduction

1Introduction

Thank you for your purchase. The information contained in
this manual will help you receive maximum performance and
satisfaction from your STIHL AP Battery Bag with
Connecting Cord and, if followed, reduce the risk of injury
from its use.

SAVE THIS MANUAL!

It is important that you read and observe the
following information and warnings. Improper
use can cause serious injury.

Read this instruction manual thoroughly before
use and periodically thereafter. Follow all safety
precautions. Careless or improper use can
cause serious or fatal injury. Also read and
follow all instructions and warnings for the
following accessories which may be used with
the AP Battery Bag with Connecting Cord:

– STIHL AP series battery;
– STIHL power tool;
– STIHL Battery Belt (optional equipment);
– STIHL AP Adapter (optional equipment; for

use with STIHL power tools with an AP battery
compartment).

Throughout this instruction manual, the STIHL AP Battery
Bag with Connecting Cord also may be referred to as "AP
Battery Bag" or simply "battery bag."

Do not lend or rent the AP Battery Bag without this
instruction manual. Allow only persons who fully understand
the information in this manual to use the battery bag.

2.1 Signal Words

3.1 AP Battery Bag

1 Battery LEDs

Indicate the battery's state of charge and potential
malfunctions in the battery or power tool.

2 Push Button

Activates the battery's LEDs.

3 AP Battery

Supplies electrical power to the tool's motor.

4Belt Strap

Secures the AP Battery Bag to the STIHL Battery Belt or
other work belt equipped with a quick-release buckle.

5 Connecting Cord Holder

Secures the connecting cord to the AP Battery Bag.

6Bag

Holds the AP battery.

safety precautions.

Read and follow all safety precautions in the
instruction manual. Improper use can lead to
serious or fatal personal injury or property
damage.

5 IMPORTANT SAFETY

INSTRUCTIONS

5.1 Intended Uses

The AP Battery Bag connects a STIHL AP series battery to
a STIHL power tool in one of two ways:

– by connecting directly into the power tool's integrated

socket (Illustration A); or

– by connecting to an AP Adapter (Illustration B), which can

then be plugged into the power tool's battery compartment
(Illustration C).

– STIHL BGA blowers

￭ Do not use the AP Battery Bag with STIHL TSA cut-off

machines or STIHL RMA lawn mowers. Use with these
products could lead to severe personal injury and property
damage from entanglement of the connecting cord, loss of
control and loss of balance.

￭ Do not use the AP Battery Bag with STIHL MSA

top-handle chain saws while climbing in a tree for in-tree
surgery and maintenance. Use could lead to severe
personal injury and property damage from entanglement
of the connecting cord, loss of control, or loss of balance.

WARNING

￭ Use only with genuine STIHL AP batteries. Use with any

other type of battery may increase the risk of personal
injury and property damage. Read and follow all
instructions and warnings related to your AP battery.

￭ Use of a STIHL AP Battery Bag for any purpose other than

housing an AP battery to power the STIHL tools listed
below could lead to personal injury and property damage.
Use only with the following STIHL power tools:

– STIHL MSA chain saws (see important exceptions

below)
– STIHL HTA pole pruners
– STIHL FSA trimmers and brush cutters
– STIHL HSA hedge trimmers
– STIHL HLA extended reach hedge trimmers

Always use a lift bucket for in-tree surgery and
maintenance if using the AP Battery Bag with a MSA top­handle chain saw. Do not climb in the tree with the
AP Battery Bag.

￭ To reduce the risk of personal injury or property damage,

including damage to the AP Battery Bag and connecting
cord:

– Never charge a battery while it is in the battery bag.
– Never connect multiple battery bags together.

– Never use the battery bag to transport any object

other than a STIHL AP battery.

￭ To ensure that the AP Battery Bag can be removed from

the operator's waist quickly in the event of an emergency,
use it only in combination with the STIHL AP Battery Belt
or other work belt equipped with a quick-release buckle.
Never attach the quick-release work belt through the belt
loops on your work pants, as this will make removing the
battery bag more difficult in an emergency situation.

5.2 Operator

WARNING

￭ Operating an outdoor power tool can be strenuous. The

operator must be in good physical condition and mental
health. To reduce the risk of personal injury from fatigue
and loss of control:

– Check with your doctor before using a power tool if

you have any health condition that may be
aggravated by strenuous work.

– Do not operate a power tool while under the

influence of any substance (drug, alcohol or
medication, etc.) that might impair vision, balance,
dexterity or judgment.

– Be alert. Do not operate a power tool when you are

tired. Take a break if you become tired.

– Do not permit minors to use the AP Battery Bag.

5.3 Using the AP Battery Bag

WARNING

￭ Misuse may result in personal injury and property

damage.

– Use the battery bag only as described in this

instruction manual.

￭ Using an AP Battery Bag that is modified, damaged,

improperly adjusted or improperly maintained can lead to
a malfunction and increase the risk of serious personal
injury or death.

– Always check the battery bag for damage before

inserting a battery.
– Never attempt to modify the battery bag in any way.
– If the battery bag or any part is damaged or does not

function properly, take it to your authorized STIHL

servicing dealer. Do not use the battery bag until the

problem has been corrected.
– Do not disassemble the battery bag. There are no

user-serviceable parts inside.

￭ Before inserting a battery into the AP Battery Bag:

– Check the electrical contacts in the battery bag for

corrosion or other foreign matter. Keep clean. If the
electrical contacts are dirty or corroded, take the
battery bag to your authorized STIHL servicing
dealer before use.

– Never insert a malfunctioning, damaged, cracked,

leaking or deformed battery into the battery bag.

– Read and follow the instructions on switching on the

power tool before inserting the connecting cord into
the power tool socket or the AP Adapter into the
power tool's battery compartment.

￭ To reduce the risk of short circuit, which could lead to

electric shock, fire and explosion:

– Keep the AP Battery Bag dry. Protect it

from rain, water, liquids and damp
conditions. Never insert an AP battery if
either the battery or the battery bag is
wet.

– Never transport metallic, pointed or sharp objects in

the AP Battery Bag. They may bridge the electrical
contacts in the AP battery and cause a short circuit.

– Never insert a malfunctioning, damaged, cracked or

deformed battery into the battery bag.

– Never insert the connecting cord into a

malfunctioning, damaged, cracked or deformed
power tool or AP Adapter.

– Never store a battery in the battery bag. Never store

your AP Adapter in the STIHL power tool.

– Protect the battery bag from damp or corrosive

conditions, or conditions that could lead to corrosion
of its metal components.

– Protect the battery bag from exposure to corrosive

agents such as garden chemicals and de-icing salts.

￭ To help reduce the risk of serious personal injury or death

from unintentional starting of the power tool connected to
the AP Battery Bag:

– Be sure the power tool is switched off and the

retaining latch is in the locked position before

inserting the connecting cord or AP Adapter into the

power tool.

– Remove the connecting cord or AP

Adapter from the power tool before
assembling, transporting, adjusting,
inspecting, cleaning, servicing,
maintaining or storing the power tool.
Remove the connecting cord or AP
Adapter immediately in the event of a
malfunction or emergency and any time
the tool is not in use.

– Never leave the battery bag unattended when a

battery is inserted or when it is connected to a power

tool.

￭ To reduce the risk of serious personal injury from loss of

control during operation:

– Read and follow all safety precautions and

instructions related to the power tool connected to

the battery bag.
– Make sure you have good balance and secure

footing at all times. Take special care in slippery

conditions (wet ground, snow) and in overgrown

terrain.
– Watch for hidden obstacles such as tree stumps,

roots, rocks, holes and ditches to avoid stumbling or

falling.
– Be extremely cautious when working on slopes or

uneven ground, as the battery bag may alter your

center of balance. Do not overreach.
– Never work with the battery bag in trees, on roofs, or

ladders or any other insecure support.

￭ To reduce the risk of injury from tripping on the connecting

cord or losing control of the power tool:

– Always position and secure the connecting cord so

that it will not interfere with your power tool or proper
working technique. Keep the connecting cord away
from the cutting attachment of the power tool.

– Remain aware of the location of the connecting cord

while working. Prevent it from contacting the power
tool’s cutting attachment or catching on other
objects, which could cause you to lose balance or
control of the power tool, resulting in serious
personal injury and property damage.

￭ Using an AP battery that is damaged, or an AP Battery

Bag that is damaged, modified or improperly adjusted, can
lead to a malfunction and increase the risk of serious
personal injury and property damage. Before inserting a
battery:

– Always check the battery for proper condition and

operation.

– Check the battery, connecting cord, power tool

socket or, if using the AP Adapter, power tool battery
compartment and AP Adapter, for corrosion, foreign
matter and damage.

– Never attempt to use, charge or store a

malfunctioning, damaged, cracked, leaking or
deformed battery. Take it to your authorized STIHL
servicing dealer immediately. Do not use, charge or
store the battery until the problem has been
corrected.

– Make sure the nylon straps and other components of

the battery bag are in good condition, properly
adjusted and secure on your STIHL Battery Belt or
other work belt with a quick-release buckle. If any of
the straps are worn, weakened, cracked or
damaged, contact your authorized STIHL servicing
dealer to have them repaired or replaced.

￭ The operator must be able to remove the AP Battery Bag

quickly in the event of an emergency. In an emergency,
open and remove the STIHL Battery Belt or work belt by
releasing the quick-release buckle.

– Do not attach the battery bag to a belt without a

quick-release buckle.
– Never attach the quick-release work belt through the

belt loops on your work pants, as this will make

removing the battery bag more difficult in an

emergency situation.
– To help reduce the risk of injury in the event of an

emergency, practice quickly opening the quick-

release buckle on the waist belt and lowering the

battery bag to the ground. To avoid damage, ease

the battery bag to the ground when practicing. Do

not allow the battery bag to drop to the ground and

do not throw it.

5.4 Connecting Cord

WARNING

￭ Using a damaged connecting cord may result in fire,

electric shock and other personal injury or property
damage. To reduce these risks:

– Check the connecting cord regularly for damage. If it

becomes damaged, immediately disconnect it from

the power tool or AP Adapter. Never use a damaged

connecting cord.
– Do not abrade, crush, jerk, or otherwise abuse or

misuse the connecting cord. Protect it from heat, oil

and sharp edges.
– If the connecting cord becomes damaged, have it

replaced by an authorized STIHL servicing dealer

before use. A damaged connecting cord must be

replaced with an identical STIHL replacement part.
– Unplug the connecting cord from the power tool or

AP Adapter when the power tool is not in use.

– Never yank or jerk the connecting cord to

disconnect. To unplug the connecting cord from the
power tool, grasp the plug, not the connecting cord.
The connecting cord cannot be removed from the AP
Battery Bag.

– Check the AP Adapter, the connecting cord and its

plug for signs of damage. Never use a damaged AP
Adapter, connecting cord or plug.

– Make sure the insulation of the connecting cord and

plug are in good condition.
– Straighten a twisted connecting cord before use.
– Position the connecting cord so that it cannot be

reached or damaged by the cutting or working

attachment of the power tool being used.
– Do not use the connecting cord for any purpose

other than providing an electrical connection

between the battery in the battery bag and your

authorized STIHL power tool. For example, do not

use it for carrying or hanging up the battery bag or a

power tool.

5.5 Maintenance, Repair and Storage

WARNING

￭ There are no user-authorized repairs for the AP Battery

Bag. To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or other
personal injury or property damage:

– Do not attempt to repair, open or disassemble the

battery bag. There are no user-serviceable parts

inside.
– Users may carry out only the cleaning and

maintenance operations in this manual.
– Strictly follow the cleaning and maintenance

instructions in the appropriate sections of this

instruction manual.
– STIHL recommends that all repair work be

performed by authorized STIHL servicing dealers.

6 AP Battery Safety

￭ Unintentional starting of the power tool may result in

personal injury or property damage. To reduce the risk of
personal injury and property damage from unintentional
starting, disconnect the AP Battery Bag from the power
tool:

– Before inspecting, adjusting or cleaning the battery,

battery bag or power tool.

– Before handling the power tool's cutting or working

attachment.

– Before leaving the battery, battery bag or power tool

unattended.

– Before transporting or storing the battery or the battery

bag.
– In the event of a malfunction or in an emergency.
– Any time the battery or the battery bag is not in use.

￭ Use of parts that are not authorized or approved by STIHL

may cause serious or fatal injury or property damage.

– STIHL recommends that only identical STIHL

replacement parts be used for repair or
maintenance.

￭ To reduce the risk of short circuit and fire:

– Keep the electrical guides in the AP Battery Bag, AP

Adapter and in the power tool’s battery compartment
free of foreign matter. Clean as necessary with a dry
cloth or soft, dry brush.

￭ Improper storage can result in unauthorized use, damage

to the AP Battery Bag and an increased risk of fire, electric
shock and other personal injury or property damage.
Before storing:

– Remove the connecting cord from the power tool or

AP Adapter.

– Store the battery bag indoors in a dry, secure place

that cannot be accessed by children or other
unauthorized users.

– Never store the battery bag in damp or corrosive

environments or in conditions that could lead to the
corrosion of its metal components.

– Never store the battery bag plugged into the AP

Adapter or power tool.

– Never store the battery or the battery bag in a metal

container or in a container with metal objects (e.g.,
paper clips, nails, coins, keys, etc.)

6 AP Battery Safety

6.1 Warnings and Instructions

WARNING

￭ Use of unauthorized batteries can damage the AP Battery

Bag and the power tool being used, resulting in fire,
explosion and personal injury and property damage.

– Use only genuine STIHL AP batteries with the

battery bag.

￭ Use of STIHL AP batteries for any purpose other than

powering STIHL power tools could be extremely
dangerous.

– Use STIHL AP batteries only to power compatible

STIHL power tools.

￭ Use of unauthorized chargers can damage the battery and

result in fire, explosion and personal injury and property
damage.

– Use only genuine STIHL AL chargers to charge

STIHL AP batteries.

￭ STIHL AP batteries contain safety features and devices

which, if damaged, may allow the battery to generate heat,
rupture, leak, ignite or explode.

– Never heat STIHL AP batteries above 212 °F (100

°C).

– Never store STIHL AP batteries in direct sunlight or

inside a vehicle in hot weather.

￭ To reduce the risk of personal injury and property damage

in the event the battery emits smoke, an unusual smell or
feels unusually hot while using, charging or storing:

– Immediately discontinue using or charging the

battery. Prepare to contact the authorities in the
event of fire or explosion.

￭ To reduce the risk of a short circuit, which could lead to

electric shock, fire and explosion:

– Never immerse the battery in water or other liquids.
– Never bridge the battery terminals with wires or

other metallic objects.

– Keep a battery that is not in use away from metal

objects (e.g., paper clips, nails, coins, keys).

– Never transport or store the battery in a metal

container.
– Store the battery indoors in a dry room.
– Never store the battery in damp or corrosive

environments or in conditions that could lead to

corrosion of its metal components.
– Never store the battery in the battery bag or charger.
– Protect the battery from exposure to corrosive

agents such as garden chemicals and de-icing salts.
– Protect the battery from exposure to conductive

liquids such as salt water.
– Do not attempt to repair, open or disassemble the

battery. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.

￭ Leaking battery fluid is potentially harmful and can cause

skin and eye irritation, chemical burns and other serious
personal injury.

– Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
– Use an inert absorbent such as sand on spilled

battery fluid.
– In the event of accidental contact, immediately rinse

the contact area thoroughly with mild soap and

water.

– If fluid gets into your eye(s): Do not rub. Rinse water

over the open eye(s) for at least 15 minutes and
seek medical attention.

￭ A battery fire can be dangerous. To reduce the risk of

severe personal injury and property damage in the event
of fire:

– Evacuate the area. Fire can spread rapidly. Stay

clear of any vapors generated and maintain a safe

distance.
– Contact the fire department.
– Although water can be used to put out a battery fire,

use of a multi-purpose dry chemical fire extinguisher

is preferable.
– Consult the fire department regarding proper

disposal of a burned battery.

7 LED Diagnostics and Acoustic Signals

7.1 Status of Battery Bag, Battery and Power Tool

An acoustic signal and four LEDs are used to communicate
the status of the AP Battery Bag, its battery and the attached
power tool.

The battery bag produces an acoustic signal that will consist
of a single short beep (1), or a rapid succession of short
beeps (2):

8 Before Starting Work

1 A short beep

A short beep means that the AP battery is inserted
properly and is ready for operation. If the power tool is
switched back on again after a break lasting 10 minutes
or more, another short beep will be emitted.

2 Rapid succession of short beeps

A rapid succession of multiple beeps when you insert the
AP battery means that there is a malfunction in the
battery, the battery bag or the power tool. Do not attempt
to charge, use or store the battery. Replace the battery.

The LEDs on the AP battery can glow or flash green or red.

If one LED glow s red contin uously: the battery is
either too hot or too cold. Allow the battery to
warm up or cool down gradually at an ambient
temperature of about 50 °F to 68 °F (10 °C to
20 °C).

If all four LEDs flash red: the battery has a
malfunction and must be replaced. Do not
attempt to charge, use or store the battery.

If three LEDs glow red continuously: the power tool motor is
too hot. Allow the motor to cool down.

If three LEDs flash red when you activate the trigger switch:
the power tool has an electrical malfunction. Do not operate
the power tool. Have it checked by an authorized STIHL
servicing dealer before use or storage.

► Be aware that your ability to hear the acoustic signal

produced by the battery bag may be reduced when
wearing hearing protection.

7.2 Charge Status

The LEDs on the battery also show the battery's state of
charge.

To determine the battery's state of charge:

► Press the button (1) on the battery.

The LEDs on the battery will glow or flash green for about
5 seconds and indicate the state of charge (see
illustration).

For example:
If four green LEDs glow continuously: full charge.
If one green LED is flashing: less than 20 % charge.

8.1 Preparing the AP Battery Bag for Operation

Before starting work:
► Check the AP Battery Bag, connecting cord, plug and

power tool socket for signs of damage. If using the AP
Adapter, always check it and the power tool's battery
compartment for signs of damage before starting work.
Never use a damaged battery bag, connecting cord, plug
or socket. Never use a damaged AP Adapter or power tool
with a damaged battery compartment.

► Make sure before use that the insulation of the connecting

cord is in good condition.

► Check the electrical contacts in the battery bag and on the

plug to make sure that they are free of foreign matter and
corrosion. If working with an AP Adapter, make sure that
its electrical contacts and the contacts in the power tool's

battery compartment are free of foreign matter.
► Straighten a twisted connecting cord before use.
► Fully charge the battery outside of the battery bag before

use.

9 Assembling the AP Battery Bag

9.1 Attaching the AP Battery Bag to Your Belt

WARNING

Never transport metallic, pointed or sharp objects in the AP
Battery Bag. They may cause a short circuit once a battery
is inserted.

WARNING

To reduce the risk of injury from tripping on the connecting
cord or losing control of the power tool, always secure the
connecting cord with the hook and eye fastener on the cord
holder. Always position and secure the connecting cord so
that it will not interfere with your power tool or proper working
technique. Always manage the cord appropriately to prevent
it from coming into contact with the cutting attachment or
catching on objects, which could cause you to lose balance
or control of the power tool, resulting in serious personal
injury and property damage.

To attach the AP Battery Bag to the STIHL Battery Belt or
other work belt with a quick-release buckle:

► Release the hook and eye fastener by pulling on the belt

strap (1). Pull the belt strap out of the ring (2).

► Thread the belt strap through the battery belt (3) and down

through the ring.

► Thread the belt strap back up through the battery belt and

fasten it to the battery bag (4).

► Insert the battery (5) into the battery bag.
► Secure the battery in the battery bag with the strap (6).
To help reduce the risk of injury in the event of an

emergency, practice quickly opening the quick-release
buckle on the waist belt and lowering the battery bag to the
ground. To avoid damage, ease the battery bag to the
ground when practicing. Do not allow the battery to drop to
the ground and do not throw it. Never loop the quick-release
work belt through the belt loops on your work pants.

9.2 Positioning and Adjusting the Connecting Cord

The connecting cord can be secured in different positions
and adjusted to suit the height and reach of the operator.

10 Connecting the AP Battery Bag to the Power Tool

► Always position and secure the connecting cord so that it

will not interfere with your power tool or proper working
technique.

Power Tool

WARNING

Never use a malfunctioning, damaged, cracked, leaking or
deformed battery. Use and store the battery only within an
ambient temperature range of 14 °F to 122 °F (- 10 °C to
50 °C), @ 6.

WARNING

To reduce the risk of unintended activation, never store the
power tool with the connecting cord of the AP Battery Bag
inserted into the power tool socket. Always remove the
connecting cord before storing the power tool, @ 5.3.

10.1 Connecting to a Power Tool with an Integrated Socket

To connect the battery bag to a power tool with an integrated
socket:

The length of the connecting cord can be adjusted by
making a loop (1) and securing it with the cord holder (2) on
the top of the Battery Bag (3).

► Line up the arrow on the connecting cord plug (1) with the

arrow on the power tool socket (2).

► Push the plug into the socket with steady, even pressure

until it is fully inserted. The battery bag and power tool are
now connected.

For further information on activating and operating the
power tool, see the instruction manual of the power tool
being used with this battery bag.

10.2 Connecting to a Power Tool with a Battery Compartment

To connect the battery bag to a power tool with a battery
compartment:

► Line up the arrow on the connecting cord plug (1) with the

arrow on the AP Adapter (3).

► Push the plug into the AP Adapter socket (2) with steady,

even pressure until it is fully inserted.

► Push the AP Adapter into the power tool's battery

compartment (4) until it engages with an audible click. The
battery bag and the power tool are now connected.

For further information on activating and operating the
power tool, see the instruction manual of the power tool
being operated with this battery bag.

► If a power tool with an integrated socket is used, pull the

plug out of the power tool socket with steady, even
pressure.

► If a power tool with battery compartment is used, remove

AP Adapter from power tool's battery compartment and
then pull the plug out of the AP Adapter socket with
steady, even pressure.

11 After Finishing Work

11.1 Preparing for Transportation or Storage

To prepare the AP Battery Bag for transportation or storage:
► Switch off the power tool as described in its instruction

manual.

► Disconnect the battery bag, @ 10.3.
► If the battery or battery bag became wet during operation,

allow them to dry separately and completely before
charging or storing.

12.1 Transporting the AP Battery Bag

► Before transporting, take the battery out of the AP Battery

Bag and remove the connecting cord from the power tool
socket. Alternatively, if a power tool with battery
compartment is used, remove the AP Adapter from the
power tool's battery compartment and remove the
connecting cord from the AP Adapter. @ 10.3.

inaccessible to children and other unauthorized users.
Never store the battery in the battery bag.

When storing the AP Battery Bag:
► Clean the battery bag.

► Store the battery bag indoors in a dry and secure location,

out of the reach of children and other unauthorized
persons.

► Loop the connecting cord and secure it with the cord

holder on the top of the battery bag.

► If a discoloration (arrow) is visible on the contact surfaces:

Sand down the discoloration with a fine P 600 sand paper
until the contact surfaces shine again.

repairs. STIHL recommends that repair work be performed
by authorized STIHL servicing dealers.

Proper maintenance of the AP Battery Bag includes the
following activities:

► Clean dust and dirt off the battery bag and battery with a

dry cloth or soft, dry brush.

► Do not use solvents or aggressive detergents to clean the

battery bag or battery. They may damage the plastic

housing and other components.
► Do not spray the battery bag or battery with water.
► Having worn, missing or damaged safety labels replaced

by an authorized STIHL servicing dealer.
If you make a warranty claim for a component which has not

been serviced or maintained properly, coverage may be
denied.

5.2 Operador

ADVERTENCIA

￭ El uso de una herramienta eléctrica a la intemperie puede

ser fatigoso. El operador debe hallarse en buenas
condiciones tanto físicas como mentales. Para reducir el
riesgo de lesiones personales causadas por fatiga o
pérdida del control:

– consulte a su médico antes de usar una herramienta

eléctrica si tiene una afección de salud que pueda
agravarse por el trabajo extenuante.

– No haga funcionar una herramienta eléctrica si se

encuentra bajo la influencia de cualquier sustancia
(drogas, alcohol, medicamentos, etc.) que puedan
afectar la visión, el equilibrio, la destreza o el juicio.

– Esté alerta. No maneje una herramienta eléctrica

cuando esté fatigado. Tómese un descanso si se
siente cansado.

– No permita que los menores de edad usen la bolsa

de batería AP.

5.3 Uso de la bolsa de batería AP

ADVERTENCIA

￭ El uso inadecuado puede causar lesiones personales o

daños a la propiedad.

– Use la bolsa de batería solo como se describe en

este manual de instrucciones.

￭ Usar una bolsa de batería AP que está modificada,

dañada, que se ajustó incorrectamente o que no fue
armada completa y debidamente puede generar un
defecto y aumentar el riesgo de lesiones personales
graves o mortales.

– Siempre compruebe que la bolsa de batería no esté

dañada antes de insertar una batería.

– Nunca intente modificar la bolsa de batería en modo

alguno.

– Si la bolsa de batería o cualquier pieza está dañada

o no funciona correctamente, llévelas a un

concesionario de servicio STIHL autorizado. No use

la bolsa de batería hasta que el problema se haya

solucionado.
– No desarme la bolsa de batería. No contiene en su

interior piezas que el usuario pueda reparar.

￭ Antes de insertar una batería en la bolsa de batería AP:

– Revise si hay corrosión o materias extrañas en los

contactos eléctricos de la bolsa de batería.

Manténgalos limpios. Si los contactos eléctricos

están sucios o corroídos, lleve la bolsa de batería a

un concesionario de servicio autorizado por STIHL

antes de usarla.
– Nunca inserte una batería que esté defectuosa,

dañada, agrietada, deformada o que pierda líquido

en la bolsa de batería.
– Lea y siga las instrucciones para encender la

herramienta eléctrica antes de insertar el cable de

conexión en el tomacorriente de la herramienta

eléctrica o el adaptador AP en el compartimiento de

la batería de la herramienta eléctrica.

￭ Para reducir el riesgo de cortocircuito, que podría causar

una descarga eléctrica, un incendio o una explosión:

– No moje la bolsa de batería AP. Protéjala

de la lluvia, el agua, los líquidos y las
condiciones de humedad. Nunca inserte
una batería AP si la batería o la bolsa de
batería están húmedos.

– Nunca transporte objetos metálicos, puntiagudos o

filosos en la bolsa de batería AP. Estos pueden

formar un puente entre los contactos eléctricos de la

batería AP y causar un cortocircuito.
– Nunca inserte una batería que esté defectuosa,

dañada, agrietada o deformada en la bolsa de

batería.
– Nunca inserte el cable de conexión en una

herramienta eléctrica o adaptador AP defectuoso,

– Proteja la bolsa de batería de la exposición a

agentes corrosivos, como productos químicos de
jardinería y sales de deshielo.

￭ Para ayudar a reducir el riesgo de lesiones personales

graves o mortales a causa de la activación accidental de
una herramienta conectada con la bolsa de batería AP:

– Asegúrese de que la herramienta eléctrica esté

apagada y que el pestillo de retención esté en la

– Retire el cable de conexión o el

adaptador AP inmediatamente en caso
de una avería o emergencia y toda vez
que la herramienta no esté en uso.

– Nunca deje la bolsa de batería desatendida cuando

esté insertada una batería o cuando esté conectada
a una herramienta eléctrica.

￭ Para reducir el riesgo de sufrir lesiones personales graves

por la pérdida del control durante el uso:

– Lea y respete todas las instrucciones de seguridad

relacionadas con la herramienta eléctrica que está
conectada a la bolsa de batería.

– Asegúrese de estar siempre en equilibrio y de tener

los pies bien apoyados. Se debe tener cuidado
especial cuando las condiciones del suelo son
resbaladizas (suelo húmedo, nieve) y en terreno con
mucha vegetación.

– Para evitar tropezarse o caerse, esté atento a los

obstáculos ocultos, tales como tocones, raíces,

piedras, hoyos y zanjas.
– Tenga sumo cuidado al trabajar en pendientes o

sobre suelo desnivelado, ya que la bolsa de batería

puede alterar su centro de equilibrio. No trate de

alcanzar más lejos de lo debido.
– Nunca trabaje con la bolsa de batería en árboles,

techos ni en escaleras o soportes inseguros.

￭ Para reducir el riesgo de lesionarse por tropezarse con el

cable de conexión o por la pérdida del control de la
herramienta:

– Siempre coloque y asegure el cable de conexión de

manera que no interfiera con la herramienta

eléctrica ni con las técnicas de uso adecuado.

Mantenga el cable de conexión alejado del

accesorio de corte de la herramienta eléctrica.
– Esté siempre atento a la ubicación del cable de

conexión mientras trabaje. Evite que entre en

contacto con el accesorio de corte de la herramienta

eléctrica o que se enganche en otros objetos, lo cual

podría hacerle perder el equilibrio o el control de la

herramienta y dar por resultado lesiones personales

graves y daños a la propiedad.

￭ El uso de una batería AP que esté dañada, modificada o

incorrectamente ajustada puede generar un defecto y
aumentar el riesgo de lesiones personales graves y daños
a la propiedad. Antes de colocar la batería:

– Siempre revise que la batería esté en buenas

condiciones y funcione correctamente.
– Verifique que la batería, el cable de conexión, el

tomacorriente de la herramienta eléctric a o, si usa e l

adaptador AP, que el compartimiento de batería de

la herramienta eléctrica y el adaptador AP no

presenten corrosión, materia extraña ni daños.
– Nunca utilice, cargue ni guarde una batería

defectuosa, dañada, agrietada, deformada o que

pierda líquido. Llévela de inmediato al concesionario

autorizado de STIHL. No use, cargue ni guarde la

batería hasta que el problema se haya corregido.

– Asegúrese de que las correas de nilón y demás

componentes de la bolsa de batería estén en buen
estado, ajustadas de manera apropiada y fijas sobre
su cinturón para batería STIHL u otro cinturón de
trabajo con una hebilla de soltado rápido. Si alguna
de las correas presentan desgaste, debilitamiento,
roturas o daños, comuníquese con el concesionario
autorizado de STIHL para repararlas o
reemplazarlas.

￭ El operador deberá poder despojarse de la bolsa de

batería AP rápidamente en caso de emergencia. En una
emergencia, abra y retire el cinturón para batería STIHL o
el cinturón de trabajo liberando la hebilla de soltado
rápido.

– No fije la bolsa de batería a un cinturón que no tenga

una hebilla de soltado rápido.

– Nunca haga pasar el cinturón de trabajo de soltado

rápido por las trabillas para cinturón de sus
pantalones de trabajo ya que esto dificultará el retiro
de la bolsa de batería en una situación de
emergencia.

– Para ayudar a reducir el riesgo de lesionarse en

caso de una emergencia, practique la apertura
rápida de la hebilla de soltado rápido en el cinturón
y colocar la bolsa de batería en el suelo. Para evitar
daños, coloque la bolsa de batería suavemente en el
suelo cuando esté practicando. No permita que la
bolsa de batería caiga al suelo ni la lance.

5.4 Cable de conexión

ADVERTENCIA

￭ Usar un cable de conexión dañado puede provocar

incendios, descargas eléctricas y otras lesiones
personales o daños a la propiedad. Para reducir estos
riesgos:

– Revise regularmente el cable de conexión de la

batería en busca de daños. Si llegara a dañarse,

desconéctelo de inmediato de la herramienta

eléctrica del adaptador AP. Nunca use un cable de

conexión dañado.
– No desgaste, aplaste, le dé tirones ni de otro modo

maltrate o utilice mal el cable de conexión. Protéjalo

del calor, el aceite y los bordes afilados.
– Si el cable de conexión se daña, solicite a un

concesionario de servicio STIHL autorizado que lo

sustituya antes de usarlo. Un cable de conexión

dañado debe ser reemplazado por un repuesto

STIHL de tipo idéntico.
– Desenchufe el cable de conexión de la herramienta

eléctrica o del adaptador AP cuando no esté

utilizando la herramienta eléctrica.
– Nunca le dé tirones ni hale el cable de conexión para

desconectarlo. Para desconectar el cable de

conexión de la herramienta eléctrica, sujete el

enchufe de la batería y no el cable. El cable de

conexión no puede retirarse de la bolsa de batería

AP.
– Inspeccione el adaptador AP, el cable de conexión y

su enchufe para verificar que no presenten indicios

de daño. Nunca use un adaptador AP, cable de

conexión o enchufe dañado.
– Asegúrese de que el aislamiento del cable eléctrico

y del enchufe esté en buenas condiciones.
– Antes de usarlo, estire el cable de conexión si está

retorcido.
– El cable debe ubicarse de modo que el accesorio de

trabajo de la herramienta eléctrica que está usando

no entre en contacto con éste ni le cause daños.

– No use el cable de conexión para ningún otro fin que

herramienta eléctrica.

5.5 Mantenimiento, reparación y almacenamiento

ADVERTENCIA

￭ La bolsa de batería AP no contiene piezas que el usuario

esté autorizado a reparar. Para reducir el riesgo de
incendios, descargas eléctricas u otras lesiones
personales o daños a la propiedad:

– No intente reparar, abrir o desarmar la bolsa de

batería. No contiene ninguna pieza que el usuario
pueda reparar sin ayuda.

– Los usuarios deben efectuar únicamente los

trabajos de mantenimiento y limpieza descritos en
este manual.

– Respete rigurosamente las instrucciones de

limpieza y mantenimiento que se dan en las
secciones correspondientes de este manual de
instrucciones.

– STIHL le recomienda que encargue la realización de

los trabajos de reparación a un concesionario de
servicio STIHL autorizado.

￭ El arranque accidental de la herramienta motorizada

puede causar lesiones personales o daños a la propiedad.
Para reducir el riesgo de sufrir lesiones personales y
daños a la propiedad por el arranque inesperado de la
herramienta motorizada, desconecte la bolsa de batería
AP:

– Antes de inspeccionar, ajustar o limpiar la batería, la

bolsa de batería o la herramienta motorizada.

– Antes de manipular el accesorio de corte o de trabajo

de la herramienta eléctrica.

– Antes de dejar la batería, la bolsa de batería o la

herramienta motorizada desatendida.

– Antes de transportar o almacenar la batería o la bolsa

de batería.
– En caso de averías o emergencias.
– Toda vez que la batería o la bolsa de batería no esté en

uso.

￭ El uso de piezas no autorizadas o no aprobadas por

STIHL puede provocar lesiones graves o mortales, así
como daños materiales.

– Para llevar a cabo tareas de reparación o

mantenimiento, STIHL recomienda utilizar
únicamente piezas de repuesto STIHL idénticas a
las originales.

￭ Para reducir el riesgo de cortocircuitos e incendios:

– Mantenga las guías eléctricas en la bolsa de batería

AP, el adaptador AP y en el compartimiento de la
batería de la herramienta motorizada libres de
materia extraña. Límpielas siempre que sea

￭ El almacenamiento incorrecto puede provocar un uso no

almacenamiento:

– Retire el cable de conexión de la herramienta

motorizada o del adaptador AP.

– Guarde la bolsa de batería bajo techo, en un lugar

seco y bajo llave al que los niños y otras personas
no autorizadas no puedan acceder.

– Nunca guarde la bolsa de batería en entornos

húmedos o corrosivos, o en condiciones que
pudieran generar la corrosión de sus componentes
metálicos.

– Nunca guarde la bolsa de batería enchufada en el

adaptador AP o la herramienta motorizada.

– Nunca guarde la batería o la bolsa de batería en un

envase metálico, ni en un envase junto con objetos
metálicos (por ejemplo, clips para papel, clavos,
monedas, llaves, etc.).

6.1 Advertencias e instrucciones

ADVERTENCIA

￭ El uso de baterías no autorizadas puede dañar la bolsa de

batería AP y la herramienta eléctrica en uso, lo que podría
causar incendios, explosiones, lesiones personales y
daños a la propiedad.

– Utilice sólo baterías originales STIHL AP con la

bolsa de batería.

￭ El uso de baterías STIHL AP para cualquier fin que no sea

alimentar las herramientas eléctricas STIHL podría ser
extremadamente peligroso.

– Use las baterías STIHL AP solo con herramientas

eléctricas STIHL compatibles.

￭ El uso de cargadores no autorizados puede dañar la

batería y causar incendios, explosiones, lesiones
personales y daños a la propiedad.

– Use solo cargadores STIHL AL originales para

cargar las baterías STIHL AP.

￭ Las baterías STIHL AP poseen características y

dispositivos de seguridad que, de dañarse, pueden
provocar que esta genere calor, se rompa, pierda líquido,
se incendie o explote.

– Nunca caliente las baterías STIHL AP por encima de

los 100 ºC (212 ºF).

– No guarde las baterías STIHL AP en un lugar con luz

solar directa ni dentro de un vehículo en clima
caluroso.

￭ Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones personales o daños a la

propiedad en caso de que la batería emane humo o un
olor inusual, o esté más caliente de lo habitual durante el
uso, la carga o el almacenamiento:

– Inmediatamente deje de usar o cargar la batería.

￭ Para reducir el riesgo de cortocircuito, que podría causar

una descarga eléctrica, un incendio o una explosión:

– Nunca sumerja la batería en agua u otros líquidos.
– Nunca coloque un puente entre los contactos de la

batería con cables u otros objetos metálicos.

– Mantenga las baterías en desuso alejadas de

objetos metálicos (por ejemplo, presillas de papel,
clavos, monedas, llaves).

– Nunca transporte o guarde la batería en un

recipiente metálico.
– Guarde la batería bajo techo, en un lugar seco.
– Nunca guarde la batería en entornos húmedos o

corrosivos, o en condiciones que podrían generar la

corrosión de sus componentes metálicos.
– Nunca guarde la batería en la bolsa de batería o el

cargador.
– Proteja la batería de la exposición a agentes

corrosivos, como productos químicos de jardinería y

– Proteja la batería contra la exposición a líquidos

conductores de electricidad tales como el agua

salada.
– No intente reparar, abrir o desarmar la batería. No

contiene en su interior piezas que el usuario pueda

￭ El fluido de baterías que se escape es dañino y puede

causar irritaciones en la piel o los ojos, quemaduras
químicas y otras lesiones personales graves.

– Evite el contacto con la piel y los ojos.
– Use un absorbente inerte, como la arena, sobre el

fluido de batería derramado.

– En caso de contacto accidental, lave el área de

contacto inmediatamente con agua y un jabón
suave.

– Si entra líquido en los ojos: No se frote. Enjuague el

ojo abierto con agua por al menos 15 minutos y
busque atención médica.

￭ Un incendio causado por baterías puede ser peligroso.

Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones personales graves y
daños a la propiedad en caso de incendio:

– Evacúe el área. El fuego se puede propagar

rápidamente. Manténgase alejado de los vapores
generados y mantenga una distancia segura.

– Póngase en contacto con el departamento de

bomberos.

– Aunque se puede emplear agua para apagar un

incendio de la batería, es preferible usar un extintor
de incendios de polvo químico multiuso.

– Consulte al departamento de bomberos acerca de

cómo desechar correctamente la batería quemada.

7 Diagnóstico por LED y señales

acústicas

7.1 Estado de la bolsa de batería, la batería y la herramienta eléctrica

Para comunicar el estado de la bolsa de batería AP, su
batería y la herramienta eléctrica se usan una señal
acústica y cuatro LED.

La bolsa de batería produce una señal acústica que
consistirá en un único pitido breve (1), o una sucesión
rápida de pitidos breves (2):

1 Un pitido breve

Un pitido breve significa que la batería AP está insertada
apropiadamente y lista para el funcionamiento. Si la
herramienta eléctrica se enciende nuevamente después
de una interrupción de 10 minutos o más, se emitirá otro
pitido breve.

2 Sucesión rápida de pitidos breves

Una sucesión rápida de varios pitidos cuando inserta la
batería AP significa que hay una avería en la batería, la
bolsa de batería o la herramienta eléctrica. No intente
cargar, usar ni guardar la batería. Sustituya la batería.

Los LED de la batería AP pueden encenderse o destellar en
verde o rojo.

Si un LED se enciende en rojo continuamente, la
batería está demasiado caliente o demasiado
fría. Deje que la batería se caliente o se enfríe
gradualmente a una temperatura ambiente de
aproximadamente 10 °C a 20 °C (50 °F a 68 °F).

Si los cuatro LED destellan en rojo: la batería
está averiada y es necesario reemplazarla. No
intente cargar, usar ni guardar la batería.

Si tres LED se encienden en rojo continuamente, el motor
de la herramienta motorizada está demasiado caliente. Deje
que el motor se enfríe.

8 Antes de empezar a trabajar

Si tres LED destellan en rojo cuando activa el gatillo, la
herramienta motorizada tiene un defecto eléctrico. No utilice
la herramienta motorizada. Solicite a un concesionario de
servicio STIHL autorizado que la revise antes de usarlo.

► Sea consciente de que su capacidad para oír la señal

acústica producida por la bolsa de batería puede verse
disminuida si usa protectores para oídos.

7.2 Estado de carga

Los LED en la batería también muestran el estado de carga
de la batería.

Para determinar el estado de carga de la batería:

► Presione el botón (1) en la batería.

Los LED de la batería se encenderán o destellarán en
verde por unos 5 segundos e indicarán el estado de carga
(vea la ilustración).

Por ejemplo:
Si cuatro LED se encienden en verde continuamente, la

carga está completa.
Si un LED destella en verde, queda menos del 20 % de la

carga.

8 Antes de empezar a trabajar

8.1 Preparación de la bolsa de batería AP para el funcionamiento

Antes de empezar a trabajar:
► Verifique que la bolsa de batería AP, el cable de conexión,

el enchufe y el tomacorriente de la herramienta eléctrica
no presenten indicios de daños. Si usa un adaptador AP,
siempre revise que el adaptador y el compartimiento para
batería de la herramienta eléctrica no presenten indicios
de daños antes de comenzar a trabajar. Nunca use una
bolsa de batería, cable de conexión, enchufe o
tomacorriente dañado. Nunca use un adaptador AP
dañado o una herramienta eléctrica con un
compartimiento para batería dañado.

► Antes de usar el cable, compruebe que el aislante del

cable de conexión se encuentre en buenas condiciones.

► Revise los contactos eléctricos de la bolsa de batería y del

enchufe para comprobar que estén libres de materias
extrañas y de corrosión. Si trabaja con un adaptador AP,
asegúrese de que sus contactos eléctricos y los contactos
en el compartimiento para batería de la herramienta
eléctrica estén libres de materia extraña.

► Antes de usarlo, estire el cable de conexión si está

retorcido.

► Cargue la batería completamente fuera de la bolsa antes

de usarla.

Para montar la bolsa de batería AP en el cinturón para
batería STIHL u otro cinturón de trabajo con una hebilla de

► Pase la correa del cinturón de nuevo a través del cinturón

de la batería y ajústela a la bolsa de batería (4).

► Inserte la batería AP (5) en la bolsa de batería.
► Asegure la batería en la bolsa de batería con la correa (6).

► Libere el sujetador de gancho y el lazo jalando de la

correa del cinturón (1). Jale la correa del cinturón para
que pase por la argolla (2).

► Pase la correa del cinturón por el cinturón de la batería (3)

y a través de la argolla.

Para ayudar a reducir el riesgo de lesionarse en caso de una
emergencia, practique la apertura rápida de la hebilla de
soltado rápido en el cinturón y colocar la bolsa de batería en
el suelo. Para evitar daños, coloque la bolsa de batería
suavemente en el suelo cuando esté practicando. No
permita que la batería caiga al suelo ni la lance. Nunca haga
pasar el cinturón de trabajo de soltado rápido a través de las
trabillas del cinturón en sus pantalones de trabajo.

9.2 Colocación y ajuste del cable de conexión

El cable de conexión se puede ajustar en distintas

únicamente a una temperatura ambiente de -10 °C a 50 °C
(14 °F a 122 °F), @ 6.

10.1 Conexión a una herramienta eléctrica con tomacorriente incorporado

Para conectar la bolsa de batería a una herramienta
eléctrica con tomacorriente incorporado:

herramienta eléctrica (2).

10.2 Conexión a una herramienta eléctrica con compartimiento de batería

Para conectar la bolsa de batería a una herramienta
eléctrica con compartimiento de batería:

satisfaction from your STIHL AP Battery Bag with
Connecting Cord and, if followed, reduce the risk of injury
from its use.

5.1 Intended Uses

The AP Battery Bag connects a STIHL AP series battery to
a STIHL power tool in one of two ways:

– by connecting directly into the power tool's integrated

socket (Illustration A); or

– by connecting to an AP Adapter (Illustration B), which can

then be plugged into the power tool's battery compartment
(Illustration C).

￭ Do not use the AP Battery Bag with STIHL TSA cut-off

machines or STIHL RMA lawn mowers. Use with these
products could lead to severe personal injury and property
damage from entanglement of the connecting cord, loss of
control and loss of balance.

￭ Do not use the AP Battery Bag with STIHL MSA

top-handle chain saws while climbing in a tree for in-tree
surgery and maintenance. Use could lead to severe

Always use a lift bucket for in-tree surgery and
maintenance if using the AP Battery Bag with a MSA top­handle chain saw. Do not climb in the tree with the

– Never charge a battery while it is in the battery bag.
– Never connect multiple battery bags together.

5.2 Operator

WARNING

￭ Operating an outdoor power tool can be strenuous. The

operator must be in good physical condition and mental
health. To reduce the risk of personal injury from fatigue
and loss of control:

– Check with your doctor before using a power tool if

you have any health condition that may be
aggravated by strenuous work.

– Do not operate a power tool while under the

influence of any substance (drug, alcohol or

5.3 Using the AP Battery Bag

￭ Using an AP Battery Bag that is modified, damaged,

improperly adjusted or improperly maintained can lead to
a malfunction and increase the risk of serious personal
injury or death.

– Always check the battery bag for damage before

inserting a battery.
– Never attempt to modify the battery bag in any way.
– If the battery bag or any part is damaged or does not

function properly, take it to your authorized STIHL

servicing dealer. Do not use the battery bag until the

problem has been corrected.
– Do not disassemble the battery bag. There are no

user-serviceable parts inside.

￭ Before inserting a battery into the AP Battery Bag:

– Check the electrical contacts in the battery bag for

corrosion or other foreign matter. Keep clean. If the
electrical contacts are dirty or corroded, take the
battery bag to your authorized STIHL servicing
dealer before use.

– Never insert a malfunctioning, damaged, cracked,

leaking or deformed battery into the battery bag.

– Read and follow the instructions on switching on the

power tool before inserting the connecting cord into
the power tool socket or the AP Adapter into the
power tool's battery compartment.

￭ To reduce the risk of short circuit, which could lead to

electric shock, fire and explosion:

– Keep the AP Battery Bag dry. Protect it

from rain, water, liquids and damp
conditions. Never insert an AP battery if
either the battery or the battery bag is
wet.

– Never transport metallic, pointed or sharp objects in

the AP Battery Bag. They may bridge the electrical
contacts in the AP battery and cause a short circuit.

– Never insert a malfunctioning, damaged, cracked or

deformed battery into the battery bag.

– Never insert the connecting cord into a

power tool or AP Adapter.

– Never store a battery in the battery bag. Never store

your AP Adapter in the STIHL power tool.

￭ To reduce the risk of injury from tripping on the connecting

cord or losing control of the power tool:

– Always position and secure the connecting cord so

that it will not interfere with your power tool or proper
working technique. Keep the connecting cord away
from the cutting attachment of the power tool.

– Remain aware of the location of the connecting cord

while working. Prevent it from contacting the power
tool’s cutting attachment or catching on other
objects, which could cause you to lose balance or
control of the power tool, resulting in serious
personal injury and property damage.

￭ Using an AP battery that is damaged, or an AP Battery

Bag that is damaged, modified or improperly adjusted, can
lead to a malfunction and increase the risk of serious
personal injury and property damage. Before inserting a
battery:

– Always check the battery for proper condition and

operation.

– Check the battery, connecting cord, power tool

socket or, if using the AP Adapter, power tool battery
compartment and AP Adapter, for corrosion, foreign
matter and damage.

– Never attempt to use, charge or store a

malfunctioning, damaged, cracked, leaking or
deformed battery. Take it to your authorized STIHL
servicing dealer immediately. Do not use, charge or
store the battery until the problem has been
corrected.

– Make sure the nylon straps and other components of

the battery bag are in good condition, properly
adjusted and secure on your STIHL Battery Belt or
other work belt with a quick-release buckle. If any of
the straps are worn, weakened, cracked or
damaged, contact your authorized STIHL servicing
dealer to have them repaired or replaced.

open and remove the STIHL Battery Belt or work belt by
releasing the quick-release buckle.

belt loops on your work pants, as this will make

removing the battery bag more difficult in an

emergency situation.
– To help reduce the risk of injury in the event of an

emergency, practice quickly opening the quick-

release buckle on the waist belt and lowering the

battery bag to the ground. To avoid damage, ease

the battery bag to the ground when practicing. Do

not allow the battery bag to drop to the ground and

do not throw it.

5.4 Connecting Cord

WARNING

￭ Using a damaged connecting cord may result in fire,

electric shock and other personal injury or property
damage. To reduce these risks:

– Check the connecting cord regularly for damage. If it

becomes damaged, immediately disconnect it from

the power tool or AP Adapter. Never use a damaged

connecting cord.
– Do not abrade, crush, jerk, or otherwise abuse or

misuse the connecting cord. Protect it from heat, oil

and sharp edges.
– If the connecting cord becomes damaged, have it

replaced by an authorized STIHL servicing dealer

before use. A damaged connecting cord must be

replaced with an identical STIHL replacement part.
– Unplug the connecting cord from the power tool or

AP Adapter when the power tool is not in use.

– Never yank or jerk the connecting cord to

disconnect. To unplug the connecting cord from the
power tool, grasp the plug, not the connecting cord.
The connecting cord cannot be removed from the AP
Battery Bag.

– Check the AP Adapter, the connecting cord and its

plug for signs of damage. Never use a damaged AP
Adapter, connecting cord or plug.

– Make sure the insulation of the connecting cord and

plug are in good condition.
– Straighten a twisted connecting cord before use.
– Position the connecting cord so that it cannot be

reached or damaged by the cutting or working

attachment of the power tool being used.
– Do not use the connecting cord for any purpose

other than providing an electrical connection

between the battery in the battery bag and your

authorized STIHL power tool. For example, do not

use it for carrying or hanging up the battery bag or a

power tool.

5.5 Maintenance, Repair and Storage

WARNING

￭ There are no user-authorized repairs for the AP Battery

Bag. To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or other
personal injury or property damage:

– Do not attempt to repair, open or disassemble the

battery bag. There are no user-serviceable parts

inside.
– Users may carry out only the cleaning and

maintenance operations in this manual.
– Strictly follow the cleaning and maintenance

instructions in the appropriate sections of this

instruction manual.
– STIHL recommends that all repair work be

performed by authorized STIHL servicing dealers.

6 AP Battery Safety

6.1 Warnings and Instructions

WARNING

￭ Use of unauthorized batteries can damage the AP Battery

Bag and the power tool being used, resulting in fire,
explosion and personal injury and property damage.

– Use only genuine STIHL AP batteries with the

battery bag.

￭ Use of STIHL AP batteries for any purpose other than

powering STIHL power tools could be extremely
dangerous.

– Use STIHL AP batteries only to power compatible

STIHL power tools.

￭ Use of unauthorized chargers can damage the battery and

result in fire, explosion and personal injury and property
damage.

– Use only genuine STIHL AL chargers to charge

STIHL AP batteries.

￭ STIHL AP batteries contain safety features and devices

which, if damaged, may allow the battery to generate heat,
rupture, leak, ignite or explode.

– Never heat STIHL AP batteries above 212 °F (100

°C).

– Never store STIHL AP batteries in direct sunlight or

inside a vehicle in hot weather.

￭ To reduce the risk of personal injury and property damage

in the event the battery emits smoke, an unusual smell or
feels unusually hot while using, charging or storing:

– Immediately discontinue using or charging the

battery. Prepare to contact the authorities in the
event of fire or explosion.

￭ To reduce the risk of a short circuit, which could lead to

electric shock, fire and explosion:

– Never immerse the battery in water or other liquids.
– Never bridge the battery terminals with wires or

other metallic objects.

– Keep a battery that is not in use away from metal

objects (e.g., paper clips, nails, coins, keys).

– Never transport or store the battery in a metal

container.
– Store the battery indoors in a dry room.
– Never store the battery in damp or corrosive

environments or in conditions that could lead to

corrosion of its metal components.
– Never store the battery in the battery bag or charger.
– Protect the battery from exposure to corrosive

agents such as garden chemicals and de-icing salts.
– Protect the battery from exposure to conductive

liquids such as salt water.
– Do not attempt to repair, open or disassemble the

battery. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.

￭ Leaking battery fluid is potentially harmful and can cause

skin and eye irritation, chemical burns and other serious
personal injury.

– Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
– Use an inert absorbent such as sand on spilled

battery fluid.
– In the event of accidental contact, immediately rinse

the contact area thoroughly with mild soap and

water.

– If fluid gets into your eye(s): Do not rub. Rinse water

over the open eye(s) for at least 15 minutes and
seek medical attention.

￭ A battery fire can be dangerous. To reduce the risk of

severe personal injury and property damage in the event
of fire:

– Evacuate the area. Fire can spread rapidly. Stay

clear of any vapors generated and maintain a safe

distance.
– Contact the fire department.
– Although water can be used to put out a battery fire,

use of a multi-purpose dry chemical fire extinguisher

is preferable.
– Consult the fire department regarding proper

disposal of a burned battery.

7 LED Diagnostics and Acoustic Signals

7.1 Status of Battery Bag, Battery and Power Tool

An acoustic signal and four LEDs are used to communicate
the status of the AP Battery Bag, its battery and the attached
power tool.

The battery bag produces an acoustic signal that will consist
of a single short beep (1), or a rapid succession of short
beeps (2):

1 A short beep

A short beep means that the AP battery is inserted
properly and is ready for operation. If the power tool is
switched back on again after a break lasting 10 minutes
or more, another short beep will be emitted.

2 Rapid succession of short beeps

A rapid succession of multiple beeps when you insert the
AP battery means that there is a malfunction in the
battery, the battery bag or the power tool. Do not attempt
to charge, use or store the battery. Replace the battery.

The LEDs on the AP battery can glow or flash green or red.

If one LED glow s red contin uously: the battery is
either too hot or too cold. Allow the battery to
warm up or cool down gradually at an ambient
temperature of about 50 °F to 68 °F (10 °C to
20 °C).

If all four LEDs flash red: the battery has a
malfunction and must be replaced. Do not
attempt to charge, use or store the battery.

If three LEDs glow red continuously: the power tool motor is
too hot. Allow the motor to cool down.

If three LEDs flash red when you activate the trigger switch:
the power tool has an electrical malfunction. Do not operate
the power tool. Have it checked by an authorized STIHL
servicing dealer before use or storage.

► Be aware that your ability to hear the acoustic signal

produced by the battery bag may be reduced when
wearing hearing protection.

7.2 Charge Status

The LEDs on the battery also show the battery's state of
charge.

To determine the battery's state of charge:

► Press the button (1) on the battery.

The LEDs on the battery will glow or flash green for about
5 seconds and indicate the state of charge (see
illustration).

For example:
If four green LEDs glow continuously: full charge.
If one green LED is flashing: less than 20 % charge.

8 Before Starting Work

8.1 Preparing the AP Battery Bag for Operation

Before starting work:
► Check the AP Battery Bag, connecting cord, plug and

power tool socket for signs of damage. If using the AP
Adapter, always check it and the power tool's battery
compartment for signs of damage before starting work.
Never use a damaged battery bag, connecting cord, plug
or socket. Never use a damaged AP Adapter or power tool
with a damaged battery compartment.

► Make sure before use that the insulation of the connecting

cord is in good condition.

9 Assembling the AP Battery Bag

► Check the electrical contacts in the battery bag and on the

plug to make sure that they are free of foreign matter and
corrosion. If working with an AP Adapter, make sure that
its electrical contacts and the contacts in the power tool's

battery compartment are free of foreign matter.
► Straighten a twisted connecting cord before use.
► Fully charge the battery outside of the battery bag before

use.

9 Assembling the AP Battery Bag

9.1 Attaching the AP Battery Bag to Your Belt

WARNING

Never transport metallic, pointed or sharp objects in the AP
Battery Bag. They may cause a short circuit once a battery
is inserted.

WARNING

To reduce the risk of injury from tripping on the connecting
cord or losing control of the power tool, always secure the
connecting cord with the hook and eye fastener on the cord
holder. Always position and secure the connecting cord so
that it will not interfere with your power tool or proper working
technique. Always manage the cord appropriately to prevent
it from coming into contact with the cutting attachment or
catching on objects, which could cause you to lose balance
or control of the power tool, resulting in serious personal
injury and property damage.

To attach the AP Battery Bag to the STIHL Battery Belt or
other work belt with a quick-release buckle:

► Release the hook and eye fastener by pulling on the belt

strap (1). Pull the belt strap out of the ring (2).

► Thread the belt strap through the battery belt (3) and down

through the ring.

► Thread the belt strap back up through the battery belt and

fasten it to the battery bag (4).

WARNING

To reduce the risk of unintended activation, never store the
power tool with the connecting cord of the AP Battery Bag
inserted into the power tool socket. Always remove the
connecting cord before storing the power tool, @ 5.3.

10.1 Connecting to a Power Tool with an Integrated Socket

To connect the battery bag to a power tool with an integrated
socket:

The length of the connecting cord can be adjusted by
making a loop (1) and securing it with the cord holder (2) on
the top of the Battery Bag (3).

11 After Finishing Work

► Push the plug into the socket with steady, even pressure

until it is fully inserted. The battery bag and power tool are
now connected.

For further information on activating and operating the
power tool, see the instruction manual of the power tool
being used with this battery bag.

10.2 Connecting to a Power Tool with a Battery Compartment

To connect the battery bag to a power tool with a battery
compartment:

► Line up the arrow on the connecting cord plug (1) with the

arrow on the AP Adapter (3).

► Push the plug into the AP Adapter socket (2) with steady,

even pressure until it is fully inserted.

► Push the AP Adapter into the power tool's battery

compartment (4) until it engages with an audible click. The
battery bag and the power tool are now connected.

For further information on activating and operating the
power tool, see the instruction manual of the power tool
being operated with this battery bag.

► If a power tool with an integrated socket is used, pull the

plug out of the power tool socket with steady, even
pressure.

► If a power tool with battery compartment is used, remove

AP Adapter from power tool's battery compartment and
then pull the plug out of the AP Adapter socket with
steady, even pressure.

11 After Finishing Work

11.1 Preparing for Transportation or Storage

To prepare the AP Battery Bag for transportation or storage:
► Switch off the power tool as described in its instruction

manual.

► Disconnect the battery bag, @ 10.3.
► If the battery or battery bag became wet during operation,

allow them to dry separately and completely before

des performances et une satisfaction maximales de votre
sac à batterie STIHL AP avec cordon de raccordement et, si
elles sont respectées, réduiront le risque de blessure
résultant de son utilisation.

utilisation inadaptée peut entraîner des

d’utilisation avant d’utiliser votre machine et

3.1 Sac à batterie AP

1 DEL sur la batterie

Indiquent l’état de charge de la batterie et d’éventuels
dysfonctionnements au niveau de la batterie ou de l’outil
électrique.

2 Bouton poussoir

Active les DEL de la batterie.

3 Batterie AP

Fournit l’énergie électrique au moteur de l’outil.

4 Ceinture Sangle

Fixe le sac à batterie AP à la ceinture à batterie STIHL
ou à une autre ceinture de travail équipée d’une boucle

4 Symboles de sécurité sur le produit

4.1 Sac à batterie AP

Les symboles de sécurité suivants se trouvent sur le sac à
batterie AP :

Pour réduire le risque de blessure, respectez les
consignes de sécurité spécifiées.

Lisez et observez toutes les consignes de
sécurité dans le manuel d’utilisation. Une
utilisation incorrecte peut causer des blessures
mortelles ou des dommages matériels.

5 CONSIGNES DE SÉCURITÉ

IMPORTANTES

5.1 Utilisations prévues

Le sac à batterie AP permet de connecter une batterie
STIHL de la série AP à un outil électrique STIHL de deux
façons :

– en se connectant directement à la prise intégrée de l'outil

électrique (Illustration A) ; ou

– en se connectant à un adaptateur AP (Illustration B), qui

peut ensuite être branché dans le compartiment à batterie
de l'outil électrique (Illustration C).

￭ N'utilisez pas le sac à batterie AP avec les découpeuses

STIHL TSA ou les tondeuses à gazon STIHL RMA.
L’utilisation avec des produits pourrait entraîner de graves
blessures de sérieux dommages matériels suite à
l’accrochage du cordon de raccordement, d’une perte de
contrôle et d’une perte d’équilibre.

￭ N’utilisez pas le sac à batterie AP avec les tronçonneuses

AVERTISSEMENT

￭ N'utilisez que des batteries d'origine STIHL AP.

L'utilisation de tout autre type de batterie peut augmenter
le risque de blessures corporelles et de dommages
matériels. Lisez et suivez toutes les instructions et tous
les avertissements relatifs à votre batterie AP.

￭ L'utilisation d'un sac à batterie AP STIHL à d'autres fins

que le logement d'une batterie AP destinée à alimenter les
outils STIHL énumérés ci-dessous peut entraîner des
blessures corporelles et des dommages matériels. A
utiliser uniquement avec les outils électriques STIHL
suivants :

– Tronçonneuses STIHL MSA (voir les exceptions

importantes ci-dessous)
– Taille-haies sur perche STIHL HTA
– Débroussailleuses et coupes-herbe STIHL FSA

STIHL MSA avec poignée supérieure lorsque vous
grimpez dans un arbre pour les travaux délicats et
l'entretien des arbres. L’utilisation pourrait entraîner de
graves blessures de sérieux dommages matériels suite à
l’accrochage du cordon de raccordement, d’une perte de
contrôle ou d’une perte d’équilibre. Utilisez toujours une
unité de levage pour la chirurgie et l'entretien dans l'arbre
si vous utilisez le sac à batterie AP avec une
tronçonneuse à poignée supérieure MSA. Ne grimpez pas
dans l'arbre avec le sac à batterie AP.

￭ Pour réduire les risques de blessure ou de dommages

matériels, y compris les dommages au sac à batterie AP
et au cordon de raccordement :

– Ne chargez jamais une batterie quand elle se trouve

dans le sac à batterie.

– Ne raccordez jamais plusieurs sacs à batterie

ensemble.

– N’utilisez jamais un sac à batterie pour transporter

un quelconque objet autre qu’une batterie STIHL
AP.

￭ Pour garantir la possibilité de retrait rapide du sac à

batterie AP de la taille de l’opérateur en cas d’urgence,
utilisez-le exclusivement en combinaison avec la ceinture
à batterie STIHL AP ou une autre ceinture de travail
équipée d’une boucle à libération rapide. Ne faites jamais
passer la ceinture de travail à libération rapide dans les
boucles de votre pantalon, car cela rendrait le retrait du
sac à batterie plus difficile dans une situation d’urgence.

5.2 Opérateur

AVERTISSEMENT

￭ Le travail avec un outil électrique d’extérieur peut être

épuisant. L’utilisateur doit être en bonne condition
physique et mentale. Pour réduire tout risque de blessure
résultant de la fatigue ou d’une perte de contrôle :

– Consultez votre médecin avant d’utiliser un outil

électrique si vous avez un problème de santé qui
peut-être être aggravé par un travail pénible.

– N’utilisez pas un outil électrique pendant que vous

êtes sous l’influence d’une substance quelconque
(drogue, alcool, médicaments, etc.) qui peut altérer
la vision, l’équilibre, la dextérité ou le jugement.

– Soyez vigilant. N’utilisez pas un outil électrique

lorsque vous êtes fatigué. Faites une pause lorsque
vous vous sentez fatigué.

– N’autorisez pas les mineurs à utiliser le sac à

batterie AP.

5.3 Utilisation du sac à batterie AP

AVERTISSEMENT

￭ Une utilisation incorrecte peut causer des lésions

corporelles ou des dommages matériels.

– N’utilisez le sac à batterie que de la manière décrite

dans le présent manuel.

￭ L’utilisation d’un sac à batterie modifié, endommagé, mal

réglé ou mal entretenu peut entraîner un
dysfonctionnement et accroître le risque de blessures
graves ou de mort.

– Vérifiez toujours que le sac à batterie n’est pas

endommagé avant d’y insérer une batterie.

– N’essayez jamais d’apporter une quelconque

modification au sac à batterie.

– Si le sac à batterie ou une partie quelconque de

celui-ci est endommagé ou ne fonctionne pas
correctement, amenez-le à votre distributeur agréé
STIHL. N’utilisez pas le sac à batterie avant d’avoir
corrigé le problème.

– Ne démontez pas le sac à batterie. Elle ne contient

aucune pièce réparable par l’utilisateur.

￭ Avant d’insérer une batterie dans le sac à batterie AP :

– Vérifiez que les contacts dans le sac à batterie ne

présentent aucune trace de corrosion ni d’autres
corps étrangers. Gardez-la propre. Si les contacts
électriques sont encrassés ou corrodés, apportez le
sac à batterie à votre distributeur agréé STIHL avant
de l’utiliser.

– N’insérez jamais une batterie qui est défectueuse,

endommagée, fissurée, fuyante ou déformée dans
le sac à batterie.

– Lisez et observez les instructions relatives à la mise

en marche de l’outil électrique avant d’insérer le
cordon de raccordement dans la prise de l’outil
électrique ou l’adaptateur AP dans le compartiment
pour batterie de l’outil électrique.

￭ Pour réduire tout risque de court-circuit, ce qui pourrait

entraîner une décharge électrique, un incendie ou une
explosion :

– Gardez le sac à batterie AP sec.

Protégez-le contre la pluie, l’eau, les
liquides et les conditions humides.
N’insérez jamais une batterie AP lorsque
la batterie ou le sac à batterie est
mouillé.

– Ne transportez jamais d’objets métalliques, pointus

ou tranchants dans le sac à batterie. Ils risquent de
provoquer un court-circuit entre les contacts
électriques dans la batterie AP.

– N’insérez jamais une batterie qui est défectueuse,

endommagée, fissurée ou déformée dans le sac à
batterie.

– N’insérez jamais le cordon de raccordement dans un

outil électrique ou un adaptateur AP qui est
défectueux, endommagé, fissuré ou déformé.

– N’entreposez jamais une batterie dans le sac à

batterie. N’entreposez jamais votre adaptateur AP
dans l’outil électrique STIHL.

– Protégez le sac à batterie des conditions humides

ou corrosives ou des conditions qui pourraient
provoquer la corrosion de ses composants
métalliques.

– Protégez le sac à batterie contre une exposition à

des agents corrosifs tels que les produits chimiques
de jardins et des sels de déneigement.

￭ Pour contribuer à réduire les risques de blessure grave ou

mortelle résultant d’un démarrage involontaire de l’outil
électrique raccordé au sac à batterie AP :

– Assurez-vous que l’outil électrique est éteint et que

le verrou de retenue se trouve en position bloquée
avant d’insérer le cordon de raccordement ou
l’adaptateur AP dans l’outil électrique.

– Retirez le cordon de raccordement ou

l’adaptateur AP de l’outil électrique avant
tout assemblage, transport, réglage,
inspection, nettoyage, réparation,
entretien ou avant d’entreposer l’outil
électrique. Retirez immédiatement le
cordon de raccordement ou l’adaptateur
AP en présence d’un défaut de
fonctionnement ou en cas d’urgence et à
tout autre moment lorsque l’outil n’est
pas utilisé.

– Ne laissez jamais le sac à batterie sans surveillance

lorsqu’une batterie y est insérée ou lorsqu’il est
branché à un outil électrique.

￭ Pour réduire le risque de blessure grave résultant d’une

perte de contrôle pendant l’utilisation :

– Lisez et observez toutes les consignes de sécurité et

instructions en rapport avec l’outil électrique
raccordé au sac à batterie.

– Assurez-vous à tout moment d’avoir un bon équilibre

et une garde au sol bien stable. Soyez
particulièrement prudent dans des conditions
glissantes (sol humide, neige) et sur un terrain
recouvert par la végétation.

– Soyez attentif aux obstacles cachés, tels que des

souches d’arbres, les racines, les rochers, les trous
et les fossés pour éviter de trébucher ou de chuter.

– Soyez extrêmement prudent lorsque vous travaillez

sur des pentes ou un sol irrégulier, car le sac à
batterie peut modifier votre centre de gravité. Ne
vous penchez pas trop.

– Ne travaillez jamais dans les arbres, sur les toits, sur

une échelle ou sur tout autre support instable avec
le sac à batterie.

￭ Pour réduire le risque de blessures résultant d’un

trébuchement sur le cordon de raccordement ou d’une
perte de contrôle de l’outil électrique :

– Positionnez toujours et fixez le cordon de

raccordement de telle sorte qu’il n’interférera pas
avec votre outil électrique ni ne gênera votre
technique de travail correcte. Gardez le cordon de
raccordement éloigné de l’accessoire de coupe de
l’outil électrique.

– Soyez à tout moment conscient de l’endroit où se

trouve le cordon de raccordement pendant le travail.
Empêchez-le d’entrer en contact avec l’accessoire
de coupe de l’outil électrique ou d’être saisi par
d’autres objets, ce qui risquerait de vous faire perdre
l’équilibre ou le contrôle de votre outil électrique,
avec pour conséquence des blessures graves et de
sérieux dommages matériels.

￭ L’utilisation d’une batterie AP endommagée ou d’un sac à

batterie AP qui est endommagé, modifié ou mal réglé peut
entraîner un dysfonctionnement et accroître le risque de
blessures graves, voire mortelles, et de dommages
matériels. Avant d’insérer une batterie :

– Vérifiez toujours le bon état et le bon fonctionnement

de la batterie.

– Vérifiez que la batterie, le cordon de raccordement,

la prise de l’outil électrique ou, si vous utilisez
l’adaptateur AP, le compartiment pour batterie de
l’outil électrique et l’adaptateur AP, ne présentent
aucune trace de corrosion ni d’autres corps
étrangers et dommages.

– N’essayez jamais d’utiliser, de charger ou

d’entreposer une batterie défectueuse,
endommagée, fissurée, fuyante ou déformée.
Apportez-la immédiatement à votre distributeur
agréé STIHL. N’utilisez pas, ne chargez pas ou
n’entreposez pas la batterie avant d’avoir corrigé le
problème.

– Assurez-vous que les sangles en nylon et les autres

composants du sac à batterie sont en bon état, bien
réglés et solidement attachés à votre ceinture à
batterie STIHL AP ou une autre ceinture de travail
équipée d’une boucle à libération rapide. Si l’une
quelconque des sangles est usée, fragilisée,
fissurée ou endommagée, contactez votre
distributeur agréé STIHL pour les faire réparer ou
remplacer.

￭ L’opérateur doit être en mesure de retirer le sac à batterie

AP rapidement en cas d’urgence. En situation d’urgence,
ouvrez et retirez la ceinture à batterie STIHL ou la ceinture
de travail en ouvrant la boucle à libération rapide.

– N’attachez pas le sac à batterie à une ceinture sans

boucle à libération rapide.

– Ne faites jamais passer la ceinture de travail à

libération rapide dans les boucles de votre pantalon,
car cela rendrait le retrait du sac à batterie plus
difficile dans une situation d’urgence.

– Pour contribuer à réduire le risque de blessure en

situation d’urgence, entraînez-vous à ouvrir
rapidement la boucle à libération rapide sur la
ceinture et à abaisser le sac à batterie au sol. Pour
éviter tout dommage, déposez le sac à batterie sur
le sol en douceur lorsque vous vous entraînez. Ne
laissez pas le sac à batterie chuter au sol et ne le
jetez pas.

5.4 Cordon de raccordement

AVERTISSEMENT

￭ L’utilisation d’un cordon de raccordement endommagé

peut donner lieu à un incendie, une électrocution et
d’autres lésions corporelles ou dommages matériels. Pour
réduire ces risques :

– Vérifiez régulièrement que le cordon de

raccordement n’est pas endommagé. S’il est
endommagé, débranchez-le immédiatement de
l’outil électrique ou de l’adaptateur AP. N’utilisez
jamais un cordon de raccordement endommagé.

– Le cordon de raccordement ne doit pas subir de

frottement d’usure, d’écrasement, de secousses ou
être soumis à d’autres utilisations incorrectes ou
abusives. Protégez-le de la chaleur, de l’huile et des
bords tranchants.

– Si le cordon de raccordement est endommagé,

faites-le remplacer par un distributeur agréé STIHL
avant l’utilisation. Un cordon de raccordement
endommagé doit être remplacé par une pièce de
rechange STIHL identique.

– Débranchez le cordon de raccordement de l’outil

électrique ou de l’adaptateur AP lorsque l’outil
électrique n’est pas utilisé.

– Ne tirez jamais sur le cordon de raccordement d’un

coup sec ou par saccades pour le débrancher. Pour
débrancher le cordon de raccordement de l’outil
électrique, saisissez la fiche et non le cordon lui­même. Le cordon de raccordement ne peut pas être
retiré du sac à batterie AP.

– Vérifiez que l’adaptateur AP, le cordon de

raccordement et sa fiche ne présentent aucun signe
de dommage. N’utilisez jamais un adaptateur AP, un
cordon de raccordement ou une fiche endommagée.

– Assurez-vous que l’isolant du cordon de

raccordement et des fiches est en bon état.

– Redressez un cordon de raccordement torsadé

avant de l’utiliser.

– Positionnez le cordon de raccordement de telle sorte

qu’il ne puisse pas être atteint ou endommagé par
l’accessoire de coupe ou de travail de l’outil
électrique en cours d’utilisation.

– N’utilisez pas le cordon de raccordement pour tout

autre usage que la réalisation d’un branchement

5.5 Maintenance, réparation et entreposage

l’utilisateur est autorisé à effectuer lui-même. Pour réduire
les risques d’incendie, d’électrocution ou d’autres lésions
corporelles ou dommages matériels :

– N’essayez pas de réparer, d’ouvrir ou de démonter

le sac à batterie. Aucune pièce réparable par
l’utilisateur ne s’y trouve.

– Les utilisateurs peuvent effectuer uniquement les

opérations de nettoyage et de maintenance décrites
dans le présent manuel.

– Respectez scrupuleusement les instructions de

nettoyage et de maintenance dans la section
appropriée du présent manuel d’utilisation.

– STIHL recommande de faire effectuer toutes les

opérations de réparation par un distributeur agréé
STIHL.

￭ Un démarrage involontaire de l’outil électrique peut

causer des lésions corporelles ou des dommages
matériels. Pour réduire les risques de lésion corporelle et

involontaire, débranchez le sac à batterie AP de l’outil

– Avant de laisser la batterie, le sac à batterie ou l’outil

électrique sans surveillance.

– Avant de transporter ou d’entreposer la batterie ou le

– En cas de défaut de fonctionnement ou en situation

d’urgence.

– À tout moment où la batterie ou le sac à batterie n’est

pas utilisé.

￭ L’utilisation de pièces qui ne sont pas autorisées ou

homologuées par STIHL peut causer des blessures

– STIHL recommande d’utiliser exclusivement des

pièces de rechange STIHL identiques pour la
réparation ou la maintenance.

￭ Pour réduire les risques de court-circuit et d’incendie :

– Gardez les guides électriques dans le sac à batterie

AP, l’adaptateur AP et dans le compartiment pour
batterie de l’outil électrique exempts de corps

￭ Un mauvais stockage peut entraîner une utilisation non

autorisée, des dommages au sac à batterie AP et un

– Retirez le cordon de raccordement de l’outil

électrique ou de l’adaptateur AP.

– Entreposez le sac à batterie à l’intérieur dans un

endroit sec et protégé, hors de portée des enfants et
des autres utilisateurs non autorisés.

– N’entreposez jamais le sac à batterie dans des

environnements humides ou corrosifs, ni dans des
conditions qui pourraient provoquer la corrosion de
ses composants métalliques.

– Utilisez uniquement des batteries STIHL AP

authentiques avec le sac à batterie.

￭ L’utilisation de batteries STIHL AP à des fins autres que

l’alimentation des outils électriques STIHL pourrait être
extrêmement dangereuse.

– Utilisez les batteries STIHL AP uniquement pour

l’alimentation des outils électriques STIHL
compatibles.

￭ L’utilisation de chargeurs non autorisés peut endommager

la batterie et provoquer un incendie, une explosion ainsi
que des blessures corporelles et des dommages
matériels.

– Utilisez uniquement des chargeurs STIHL AL

authentiques pour charger les batteries STIHL AP.

￭ Les batteries STIHL AP contiennent des caractéristiques

et des dispositifs de sécurité qui, s’ils sont endommagés,
peuvent amener la batterie à produire de la chaleur, se
rompre, fuir, prendre feu ou exploser.

– Ne chauffez jamais les batteries STIHL AP au-

dessus de 212 °F (100 °C).

– N’entreposez jamais les batteries STIHL AP en plein

soleil ou à l’intérieur d’un véhicule par temps chaud.

￭ Pour réduire le risque de blessures et de dommages

matériels dans le cas où la batterie émet de la fumée, une
odeur inhabituelle ou est anormalement chaude pendant
l’utilisation, la charge ou l’entreposage :

– Cessez immédiatement d’utiliser ou de charger la

batterie. Préparez-vous à contacter les autorités en
cas d’incendie ou d’explosion.

￭ Pour réduire tout risque de court-circuit, ce qui pourrait

entraîner une décharge électrique, un incendie et une
explosion :

– N’immergez jamais la batterie dans l’eau ou d’autres

liquides.

– Ne court-circuitez jamais les bornes de la batterie

avec des fils ou d’autres objets métalliques.

– Tenez une batterie qui n’est pas utilisée à l’écart des

objets métalliques (trombones, clous, pièces de
monnaie, clés).

– Ne transportez ou n’entreposez jamais la batterie

dans une boîte métallique.
– Entreposez la batterie à l’intérieur dans un local sec.
– N’entreposez jamais la batterie dans des

environnements humides ou corrosifs, ni dans des

conditions qui pourraient provoquer la corrosion de

ses composants métalliques.
– N’entreposez jamais la batterie dans le sac à

batterie ou le chargeur.
– Protéger la batterie contre une exposition à des

agents corrosifs tels que les produits chimiques de

jardins et des sels de déneigement.
– Protéger la batterie contre une exposition à des

liquides conducteurs tels que l’eau salée.
– N’essayez pas de réparer, d’ouvrir ou de démonter

la batterie. Elle ne contient aucune pièce réparable

par l’utilisateur.

￭ Une fuite de liquide de la batterie est potentiellement

dangereuse et peut provoquer une irritation de la peau et
des yeux, des brûlures chimiques et d’autres blessures
graves.

– Évitez tout contact avec la peau et les yeux.
– Utilisez un absorbant inerte comme le sable sur les

liquides de batterie déversés.

– En cas de contact accidentel, rincez immédiatement

la surface de contact avec de l’eau et du savon doux.

– Si le liquide pénètre dans vos yeux : Ne frottez pas.

Rincez les yeux ouverts à l’eau pendant au moins 15
minutes et consultez un médecin.

￭ L’incendie d’une batterie peut être dangereux. Pour

réduire les risques de blessure grave et de dommages
matériels en cas d’incendie :

– Évacuez la zone. Le feu peut se propager

rapidement. Tenez-vous à l’écart des vapeurs
éventuellement générées et gardez une distance

sûre.
– Contactez les pompiers.
– Bien qu’il soit possible d’utiliser de l’eau pour

éteindre un feu de batterie, l’utilisation d’un

extincteur chimique sec multi-usages est préférable.
– Consultez les pompiers concernant une mise au

rebut appropriée d’une batterie brûlée.

7 DEL de diagnostic et signaux sonores

7.1 État du sac à batterie, de la batterie et de l’outil électrique

Un signal sonore et quatre DEL servent à communiquer
l’état du sac à batterie AP, de sa batterie et de l’outil
électrique connecté.

Le sac à batterie produit un signal sonore constitué d’un bip
court unique (1) ou d’une succession rapide de bips
courts (2) :

1 Un bip court

Un bip court indique que la batterie AP est bien insérée
et prête à l’emploi. Un bip court sera émis si l’outil
électrique est remis en marche après une pause de
10 minutes ou plus.

2 Succession rapide de bips courts

Une succession rapide de plusieurs bips lorsque vous
insérez la batterie signale un dysfonctionnement de la
batterie, du sac à batterie ou de l’outil électrique.
N’essayez pas de charger, d’utiliser ou d’entreposer la
batterie. Remplacez la batterie.

Les DEL sur la batterie AP peuvent être allumées ou
clignoter en vert ou en rouge.

Si une DEL qui reste continuellement allumée
en rouge : la batterie est trop chaude ou trop
froide. Laissez la batterie se réchauffer ou
refroidir progressivement à une température
ambiante d’environ 50 °F à 68 °F (10 °C à
20 °C).

Si les quatre DEL clignotent en rouge : La
batterie est défaillante et doit être remplacée.
N’essayez pas de charger, d’utiliser ou
d’entreposer la batterie.

Si trois DEL restent continuellement allumées en rouge :
l’outil électrique est trop chaud. Laissez refroidir le moteur.

Si trois DEL clignotent lorsque vous actionnez la gâchette :
l’outil électrique présente un dysfonctionnement électrique.
N’utilisez pas l’outil électrique. Faites-la vérifier par un
distributeur agréé STIHL avant de l’utiliser ou de
l’entreposer.

► Gardez à l’esprit que votre capacité à entendre le signal

sonore produit par le sac à batterie peut être réduite
lorsque vous portez une protection auditive.

7.2 État de charge

Les DEL sur la batterie indiquent également l’état de charge
de cette dernière.

Pour déterminer l’état de charge de la batterie :

► Appuyez sur le bouton (1) sur la batterie.

Les DEL sur la batterie s’allumeront ou clignoteront en
vert pendant 5 secondes environ et indiqueront ainsi l’état
de charge (voir l’illustration).

Par exemple :
Si quatre DEL vertes s’allument en continu : pleine charge.
Si une DEL verte clignote : il reste moins de 20 % de charge.

8 Avant d'entreprendre le travail

8.1 Préparation du sac à batterie AP en vue de l’utilisation

Avant de commencer le travail :
► Vérifiez que le sac à batterie AP, le cordon de

raccordement, la fiche et la prise de l’outil électrique ne
présentent aucun signe de dommage. Si vous utilisez un
adaptateur AP, vérifiez-le toujours, ainsi que le
compartiment pour batterie de l’outil électrique, pour vous
assurer qu’ils ne présentent aucun dommage. N’utilisez
jamais un sac à batterie, un cordon de raccordement, une
fiche ou une prise endommagé. N’utilisez jamais un
adaptateur AP endommagé ou un outil électrique dont le
compartiment pour batterie est endommagé.

► Avant l’utilisation, assurez-vous que l’isolant du cordon de

raccordement est en bon état.

► Vérifiez l’absence de corrosion et d’autres corps étranges

sur les contacts électriques dans le sac à batterie et sur la
prise. Si vous utilisez un adaptateur AP, vérifiez l’absence
de corps étrangers sur les contacts électriques et les
contacts du compartiment pour batterie de l’outil
électrique.

► Redressez un cordon de raccordement torsadé avant de

l’utiliser.

► Chargez entièrement la batterie en-dehors du sac avant

l’utilisation.

AVERTISSEMENT

Pour réduire le risque de blessures résultant d’un
trébuchement sur le cordon de raccordement ou d’une perte
de contrôle de l’outil électrique, fixez toujours le cordon de
raccordement avec la fixation à velcro sur l’attache de
cordon. Positionnez toujours et fixez le cordon de
raccordement de telle sorte qu’il n’interférera pas avec votre
outil électrique ni ne gênera votre technique de travail
correcte. Arrangez toujours le cordon de raccordement de
manière appropriée pour l’empêcher d’entrer en contact
avec l’accessoire de coupe ou d’être saisi par d’autres
objets, ce qui risquerait de vous faire perdre l’équilibre ou le
contrôle de votre outil électrique, avec pour conséquence
des blessures graves et de sérieux dommages matériels.

Pour fixer le sac à batterie AP à la ceinture à batterie STIHL
ou à une autre ceinture de travail équipée d’une boucle à
libération rapide :

► Enfilez de nouveau la sangle de ceinture vers le haut à

travers la ceinture à batterie et attachez-la au sac à
batterie (4).

► Insérez la batterie (5) dans le sac à batterie.
► Fixez la batterie dans le sac à batterie avec la sangle (6).

► Détachez la fixation à velcro en tirant sur la sangle de

ceinture (1). Tirez la sangle de ceinture hors de
l’anneau (2).

► Enfilez la sangle de ceinture à travers la ceinture à

batterie (3) et faites-la descendre à travers l’anneau.

Pour contribuer à réduire le risque de blessure en situation
d’urgence, entraînez-vous à ouvrir rapidement la boucle à
libération rapide sur la ceinture et à abaisser le sac à
batterie au sol. Pour éviter tout dommage, déposez le sac à
batterie sur le sol en douceur lorsque vous vous entraînez.
Ne laissez pas la batterie chuter au sol et ne la jetez pas. Ne
faites jamais passer la ceinture de travail à libération rapide
dans les boucles de votre pantalon.

10 Raccordement du sac à batterie à l’outil électrique

9.2 Positionnement et réglage du cordon de raccordement

Le cordon de raccordement peut être fixé dans différentes
positions et réglé pour s’adapter à la hauteur et la portée de
l’opérateur.

Vous pouvez ajuster la longueur du cordon de raccordement
en faisant une boucle (1) et en le fixant avec l’attache de
cordon (2) en haut du sac à batterie (3).

► Positionnez toujours et fixez le cordon de raccordement

de telle sorte qu’il n’interférera pas avec votre outil
électrique ni ne gênera votre technique de travail correcte.

10 Raccordement du sac à batterie à

l’outil électrique

10.1 Raccordement à un outil électrique muni d’une prise intégrée

Pour raccorder le sac à batterie à un outil électrique muni
d’une prise intégrée :

► Alignez la flèche sur la fiche du cordon de

raccordement (1) avec la flèche sur la prise de l’outil
électrique (2).

► Enfoncez la fiche dans la prise en exerçant une pression

ferme et régulière jusqu’à ce qu’elle soit complètement
enfoncée. Le sac à batterie et l’outil électrique sont à
présent connectés.

Pour plus d’informations sur l’activation et l’utilisation de
l’outil électrique utilisé avec ce sac à batterie, consultez le
manuel d’utilisation de l’outil.

AVERTISSEMENT

N’utilisez jamais une batterie défectueuse, endommagée,
fissurée, fuyante ou déformée, . Utilisez et stockez la
batterie uniquement dans une plage de températures
ambiantes de 14 °F à 122 °F (-10 °C à 50 °C), @ 6.

AVERTISSEMENT

Pour réduire tout risque d’activation involontaire,
n’entreposez jamais l’outil électrique avec le cordon de
raccordement du sac à batterie AP inséré dans la prise de

10.2 Raccordement à un outil électrique doté d’un compartiment pour batterie

Pour raccorder le sac à batterie à un outil électrique doté
d’un compartiment pour batterie :

► Alignez la flèche sur la fiche du cordon de

raccordement (1) avec la flèche sur l’adaptateur AP (3).

► Enfoncez la fiche dans la prise de l’adaptateur AP (2) en

exerçant une pression ferme et régulière jusqu’à ce
qu’elle soit complètement enfoncée.

► Enfoncez l’adaptateur dans le compartiment pour

batterie (4) de l’outil électrique jusqu’à ce qu’il vienne en
prise avec un déclic audible. Le sac à batterie et l’outil

10.3 Débrancher

► Éteignez l'outil électrique comme décrit dans son manuel

d'instructions.

► Si un outil électrique avec une prise intégrée est utilisé,

tirez la fiche hors de la prise de l'outil électrique en
exerçant une traction ferme et constante.

► Si vous utilisez un outil électrique avec un compartiment à

batterie, retirez l'adaptateur AP du compartiment à
batterie de l'outil électrique, puis retirez la fiche de la prise
de l'adaptateur AP en exerçant une pression constante et
régulière.

11 Après avoir terminé le travail

11.1 Préparation pour le transport ou l’entreposage

Pour préparer le sac à batterie AP en vue du transport ou de
l’entreposage :

► Éteignez l’outil électrique comme décrit dans son manuel

d’utilisation.

► Débranchez le sac à batterie, @ 10.3.
► Si la batterie ou le sac à batterie deviennent humides

pendant le fonctionnement, laissez-les sécher
séparément et complètement avant la mise en charge ou
l’entreposage.

12 Transport

12.1 Transport du sac à batterie AP

► Avant le transport, sortez la batterie du sac à batterie AP

et retirez le cordon de raccordement de la prise de l’outil
électrique. En variante, si vous utilisez un outil électrique
doté d’un compartiment pour batterie, retirez l’adaptateur
AP du compartiment pour batterie de l’outil électrique,
puis débranchez le cordon de raccordement de
l’adaptateur AP. @ 10.3.

Une maintenance correcte du sac à batterie AP inclut les
activités suivantes :

► Éliminez la saleté et la poussière du sac à batterie et de

la batterie avec un chiffon sec ou un pinceau doux et sec.

► N’utilisez pas de solvants ou de détergents agressifs pour
