PRECAUTIONS
Do not damage the power cord
A damaged power cord may cause fire or electric shock.
. Do not process or damage the power cord.
. Do not put a heavy thing on the power cord, or do not
pull the power cord.
. Do not install near a heating material, or do not heat
the power cord.
. When disconnecting the power cord, be sure to hold
the plug.
. When mounting the unit in a rack, be careful not to
catch the power cord in the rails.
Do not install the unit in humid or dusty locations
Dust, soot, and oil particles in the ambient atmosphere
may cause fire or electric shock.
Use the specified power cord only
Use of power cords other than the specified ones may
cause fire or electric shock.
Use the power cord specified in this manual.
Install the dedicated circuit breaker
The main power switch is not equipped on the front
panel of this unit.
Install the dedicated circuit breaker or power switch,
and/or plug the power cord in the outlet.
If abnormal, turn off the dedicated breaker or switch, or
disconnect the power plug.
Mount the unit by two or more persons
When mounting this unit in a rack, be sure to install it by
two or more persons. Mounting the unit by one person
may cause backache.
Use the specified rack mount rail
If not, it may cause injury by falling off the unit because
strength of rail is not enough.
Secure the unit to a rack with the screws
If the unit is not secured completely, this may cause the
unit fall off, resulting in injury. Be sure to secure the unit
with the screws when mounting to the rack. (Refer to
“1-5 Rack Mounting”)
Insert the power-cord plug and the connector into
the AC inlets completely
The imcomplete insertions may increase contact
resistance of the connector, and may cause problems
such as part damage and smoking.
Be sure to insert the power-cord plug and the connector
to the far end of each AC inlet.
Ground the unit safely
Failure to ground the unit may cause electric shock.
Before applying power for operation check or service,
be sure to connect the ground to the unit.
Do not block the ventilation slots
If the ventilation slots are blocked, overheating inside
the unit may cause fire. Observe the following points to
ensure adequate ventilation.
. Do not install in narrow or sealed locations.
. Remove dust from the fan and air filter.
. Replace the fan periodically.
. Do not install the unit upside down or on its side.
. Do not install the unit on a thick carpet or mat.
. Do not cover a cloth over the unit.
Do not stack the units
Do not stack two or more units on top of each other.
Mount in a rack to avoid the risk of the unit sliding and
causing injury.
Install in a stable location
Installation in an unstable place may cause the unit fall,
resulting in injury.
Handling the unit with the handgrip
Handling the unit without the handgrip may cause the
unit fall off, resulting in injury.
Carry the unit by two or more persons
The total weight of this unit is 37.5 kg.
Carrying the unit by one person may cause backache,
or may cause injury by the drop.

If not, it may cause injury by falling off the unit because
strength of rail is not enough.
The unit can be mounted in an EIA standard 19-inch rack.
When installing the equipment in the rack, be sure to use
the specified rack mount kit and follow the procedure
described below. If the equipment is not installed correctly,
it may fall or the rack may fall.

Service Overview
2-1.Cleaning the Air Filter
A filter is fitted on the rear side of the front panel assembly
of the unit. If accumulated dust on the filter impedes the
flow of air, the inside may heat up and troubles may occur.
Clean the filter periodically.
Cleaning
1. Turn off the main power of the NSS-C1.
2. Loosen the two screws (RK4 x 25) of the front panel.
3. Open the front panel assembly in the direction of the
arrow.
4. Push in the stopper in the direction of the arrow and
lock the front panel.
5. Remove the two screws (B3 x 6) and remove the front
beam.
6. Remove the harness from the clamper.
7. Disconnect the harness from the connector on the DP
board.
8. Remove the four screws (B3 x 6), and remove the DP
cover assembly and DP board.
9. Remove the filter in the direction of the arrow.
