MPEG TS Adaptor
An Affordable Solution for MPEG Encoding and Direct Transmission over ASI
The HDCA-702 MPEG TS Adaptor is a unique new device which enhances workflow flexibility with
various interfaces in an ultra-compact design. It provides real-time encoding of HD-SDI input
signals into an MPEG Transport Stream (TS) for output via a DVB-ASI connector.
One of this adaptor’s applications is field news gathering, using a field pickup unit and satellite
transmission. The HDCA-702 encodes camcorder output signals to MPEG TS and outputs this
stream via its DVB-ASI connector at the same time the camcorder is recording. It is also possible
to encode while the camcorder plays back recorded material.
For encoding, video formats and data rates are selected according to the bandwidth available
for transmission. Long-distance transmission (up to 150 meters) is possible via a BNC cable*.
The HDCA-702 can also be used in a standalone configuration and can be connected to a
device via an HD-SDI interface.

This adaptor also supports output of HDV™-compatible MPEG streams from the i.LINK
connector to use with HDV-compatible HDD units and nonlinear editing systems.
* The BNC cable must be compliant with DVB-ASI.
