By purchasing the seca 955 electronic chair scale, you have acquired a highly-ac curate and sturdy piece of equipment .
seca has been putting its experience at the service of health for over 150 years now, and as market leader in many coun tries of the world, is always setting new standards with its innovative develop ments for weighing and measuring.
In accordance with national regulations, the
seca 955 chair scale with standing aid is
used primarily in hospitals, doctors’ surger ies and in-patient nursing facilities . The scale is a class I medical product and is approved to CE class III.
Weight is determined within a few seconds.
The seca 955 can be moved on castors and its low power consumption combined with its rechargeable batteries mean it will provide long, mobile service.
seca 955 chair scales are made for peo -
ple who are not especially steady on their feet. To give you a safe feeling while weighing, the chair scale has a solid tubu lar frame and a firmly bolted seat. The freerunning casters make the scale very easy to move. The wheel-locking lever, together with the swiveling armrests and foot supports, makes it easier to sit in safety.
The scale is of a very sturdy construction and will give you long and loyal service. It is easy to operate and the large display is easy to read.

2. Safety

Before using the new scale, please take a little time to read the following safety instructions.

Warnings

≥15 mm
• When adjusting the height of the screw feet of the chair scale, ensure that the screw is screwed at least 15 mm into the frame. If you screw the screw foot less than 15 mm into the frame, there is a risk of the screw foot breaking off and
the occupant of the chair scale being injured.
• Never use the seca 955 chair scale for transport purposes. Do not use seca 955 chair scale to transport people or objects. If you transport people or objects using the chair scale, there is an acute risk of injury.
• Never place the seca 955 chair scale on sloping surfaces. The brakes on the casters could be released.
• Prevent the scale from rolling away accidentally. Use the wheel brake when the patient is sitting down or getting up and assist people who are unsteady on their feet.
• When using the scale with a mains unit, ensure that the supply cable is routed in such a way as to exclude any type of tripping hazard.

Unpacking

The scope of supply includes:
• Chair scale comes complete assembled
• 1 seca mains unit
• 1 rechargeable battery pack
• 1 set of operating instructions

Power supply

The scale is powered by a mains unit and by rechargeable batteries. Connecting the rechargeable battery pack: – Open the battery compartment in the
base of the display housing.
– Connect the plug contacts to the re-
chargeable battery pack.
– Close the lid of the battery compart-
ment again.
The LC display and the evaluation electronics have a low power consumption – 1,000 weighing operations can be performed with a fully charged battery.
Once battery voltage is no longer adequate, the battery symbol first appears in the display to indicate that battery power is dropping.
If the batteries are not charged, battery voltage will ultimately not be adequate for errorfree measuring. In this case, bAtt appears in the display and weighing is no longer possible.

The rechargeable batteries are charged by the mains unit supplied. For this purpose, the mains unit needs to be connected to the mains for at least 24 hours.
Please use only the mains unit supplied or mains units from the seca range of accessories. Before plugging the unit into the socket, check whether the mains voltage marked on the mains unit matches local mains voltage.
Caution!
After charging is complete, it is essential to disconnect the plug of the charger from the mains socket and from the connection in the display housing, otherwise the mains unit and the display housing will be damaged as soon as the chair scale is moved.

4. Setting up and aligning the scale

– Place the scale on a level surface. – Align the scale using the two bottom
knurled nuts (1) so that the display in the spirit level (3) is central. This setting can be secured using the top locknuts (2).
