Work description
Never prise between the contact surfaces.
Use tool 99 222 (or tool with corresponding function) if it is difficult to contract the
propeller shaft.

Removing the propeller shaft
Instead of prising the bearing retainers out, you can screw in 4 M16 screws into both
bearing retainers. Tighten the screws alternately (max. 60 Nm) against the end yoke
until the two bearing retainers are loose.

1. Secure the propeller shaft with a jack and propeller shaft tool 99 224, or tool with
corresponding function.
2. Remove the screws securing the propeller shaft to the end yoke.

3. Prise the bearing retainers alternately off both sides, if there is enough room.
4. Lower the propeller shaft slightly so that it comes free from the gearbox driver.
5. Remove the screws securing the propeller shaft at the other end.
6. Lower the propeller shaft and roll it out of the vehicle.
