Congratulations on becoming an owner of the Welles Juice Press. Juice presses have
been reported to produ c e some o f the healthiest juice for consumption. The Welles
Juice Press has been designed to be portable, easy to use, and sturdy. With a few
simple operating and care instructions, your press will work efficiently for a long time.
The Welles Juice Press is intended to be used in conjunction with a juicing machine.
Some people juice fruits and vegetables with their juicer, and then press the residual
“pulp.” Others use their juicer as a grinder, producing all “pulp” for pressing. If you do
not currently own a juicer, we highly recommend the Samson Single Augur Juicer,
Samson Advanced or the Green Power KPE1304 Twin Gear Juicer.
To enjoy your experience with the Welles
Juice Press and ensure long, trouble free
operation, please read the instructions
carefully before operating.
Thank You for choosing the Well es Juice Press!

Welles Juice Press Components (See Diagram on Next Page):
•Pressing Plate – is securely attached to the frame. It is designed to fit inside the
drip tray and press the juice as the drip tray is raised by the jack.
•Drip Tray – made of a non-leaching plastic compound specifically designed to be
used with food products. Pulp to be pressed can be placed on the tray or in
pressing cloths or pressing bags. When the jack raises the drip tray t o the pr ess i ng
plate, juice will pour from the drip tray opening.
•Pressing Cloths / Bags – (2 Cloths included) – specifically designed to be used
with food products. Put pulp inside the cloth (fold over). Pressing bags are simply
clothes sewn on 3 sides. The cloths/bags reduce splashing and increase juice
yield.
• Jack – 2 Ton Hydraulic Pressure
• Jack Handle – The handle is inserted into the jack opening at the base a nd is used
to lift the drip tray to the juicing plate.
•Jack Release Knob -
o For lifting, the knob should be turned all the way to the right.
o For lowering, the knob shoul d be turn ed up t o two full turns to the left. DO
NOT TURN MORE THAN TWO FULL TURNS TO LEFT!
(Counterclockwise)
CAUTION - Removing the Jack Release Knob will
disable the jack and void the warranty.

Operating Instructions:
• Make 1 to 2 cups of pulp with your juicer and place it on one of the juicing cloths
that came with your press. After you have used the press for a while, you can adjust
the quantity of pulp.
• Fold the cloth over the pulp until all sides are closed. Making the pulp pack tight will
increase pressing efficiency. Overfilling the cloth will decrease pressing efficiency.
• Place the folded side down and place it in the Drip Tray.
• Place the Drip Tray on the square plate on top of the jack. The under side of the
tray has an indented area that fits over the jack plate. This properly aligns the drip
tray with the pressing plate.
• Make sure the Jack Release Knob is turned all the way to the right. This controls
the hydraulic jack and should be finger tightened. You do not have to turn it hard.
• Place a pitcher or container under the funnel lip of the drip tray.
• Insert the jack handle into the opening at the bas e o f the jack . Pump the handle to
raise the pulp filled drip tray to the pressing plate. As the pulp package is
squeezed, juice will begin to pour out of the funnel edge of the drip tray.
• Once the pressure starts creating juice flow, hold the handle on top of the press with
one hand to stabilize the unit. Slowly increase pressure until considerable
resistance is felt. Do not strain yourself or tip the press in the proces s.
• Unlike electrical presses, the pressure can be left on for several minutes while you
prepare more pulp.
• To lower the drip tr ay, turn the Jack Releas e Knob to the left (up to two full turns)
counterclockwise. This releases the pressure in the jack and you can lower the tray.
DO NOT LOOSEN THE KNOB MORE THAN TWO TURNS, IT WILL BREAK THE
PRESSURE SEAL AND DISABLE THE JUICER.

Cleaning:
Cleaning your Welles Juice Press is paramount to efficiency and operational longevity.
Juice is sticky and when left to build up can inhibit operating efficiency and cause
damage. Cleaning your Welles Juice Press is fairly simple a nd doesn’t take a lot of time.
You should clean it whenever you’re not going to be using it; basically after each
pressing session.
A moist cloth, paper towel or sponge is generally all you need to clean the press. Using
a 50/50 solution of water and white vinegar can help effectively clean the press. The
drip tray is not dishwasher safe, but can go on the top shelf during the wash cycle.
The high temperatures of the drying cycle could potentially warp the tray. Do not allow
remaining pulp or dried juice to build up; this can be a breeding place for bacteria. A
50/50 bleach and water mixture can be used to sterilize your Press. Make sure to rinse
thoroughly to remove any residual bleach.
The pressing cloths can be used many times and proper care will ensure a long life.
After the cloths have been rinsed thoroughly, put them in a plastic freezer bag and store
them in the freezer . This will also keep them sterile. When you are ready to use the
cloths, rinse them under tap water to remove the stiffness.
