GENERAL SAFETY RULES
Your cultivator has been engineered and manufactured to Ryobi’s high standard for dependability, ease of operation, and operator safety. When properly cared for, it will give you years of rugged, trouble-free performance.

Failure to follow all instructions listed below, may result in electric shock, re and/or serious personal injury.
WARNING:
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by aperson responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance
INTENDED USE
The electric cultivator is intended for digging up of soil in an open garden area, maximum working depth 19.5 cm. This product is not intended for commercial use
Do not use it for any task other than those specied in the chapter “INTENDED USE”
RESIDUAL RISKS
Even when following the intended usage of the appliance there are always residual risks which cannot be prevented. The following hazards might apply:
Contact with the cultivator blase (Risk of cutting)
Unforeseen movement of the cultivator
(getting caught in roots, etc)
■Slinging of broken stones, clay, etc.
■Injury to hearing if no adequate hearing protection is taken
WARNING:
When using electric gardening appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of re, electric shock, and personal injury.
WARNING:
When using the unit, you must follow the safety rules. Please read these instructions before operating the unit in order to ensure the safety of the operator and any by standers. Please keep these instructions for later use.
Read, understand, and follow all instructions on the machine and in the manual(s) before attempting to assemble and operate. Be thoroughly familiar with the controls and the proper use of the cultivator. Keep this manual in a safe place for future and regular reference and for ordering replacement parts.
Be familiar with all control and their proper operation. Know how to stop the machine and disengage tines quickly.
Never allow children under 14 years old to operate this machine. Children 14 years old and over should read and understand the operation instructions and safety rules in this manual and should be trained and supervised by a parent.
Never allow adults to operate this machine without proper instruction.
Keep bystanders, helpers, pets and children at least 15 meters from the machine and extension cord while it is operation. Stop machine is anyone enters the area.
Before operation
■ The appliance must be assembled correctly before use.
The appliance should be checked carefully before use. You
should only work with an appliance that is in good condition. If you notice any defect on the machine that may cause danger to the operator, do not operate the appliance until defects are rectied.
Replace worn or damaged parts for safety. Use only original spare parts. Parts not produced by manufacturer may cause poor t and possible injury.
Before use, all foreign bodies must be removed from the lawn, also pay attention to foreign bodies during the operation.
Only work in daylight or sufciently good articial light.
■ Wear eye protection and face or dust mask if operating in dusty
conditions.
■ Dress properly. Wear the following clothing while using the application:
• Use of rubber gloves and substantial footwear is recommended.
• Wear protective hair covering to contain long hair.
• Avoid wearing loose clothing or jewelry that could get caught in the rotating tines.
Proper use
User is responsible for third parties while working with the appliance.
People not acquainted with the operating instructions, children, juveniles who have not yet reached the minimum age for using this appliance, and people under the inuence of alcohol, drugs or medication are not allowed to use the appliance.
Only use the appliance for its designed purposes.
Keep children and pets away. All onlookers should be kept a safe
distance away from the appliance when it is in use.
■ Make sure that all the protective devices are tted and in good condition.
■ Do not operate the application near underground electric cables, telephone lines, pipes or hoses.
■ Before inserting the plug in the mains socket, make sure that the socket ratings are correct and correspond to those indicated on the rating label on the appliance.
■ The use of the appliance is only permitted if the safety distance provided by the guide bar is complied with.
■ Do not operate the application on a slope that is too steep for safe operation. When on slopes, slow down and make sure you have good footing.
■ Before starting the application, make sure tines are not touching foreign objects and must be completely free to move.
■ Grip guide bar rmly with both hands. Never operate the application with one hand.
■ Be aware that the product may unexpectedly bounce upward or jump forward if the tines should strike extremely hard, packed soil, frozen ground, or buried obstacles such as large stones, roots or stumps.

GENERAL SAFETY RULES
■ Do not put hands, feet or any body part or clothing in the vicinity of rotating tines. Caution! Risk of injury!
■ Only guide the appliance at walking pace. Do not over reach. Maintain proper footing and balance at all times.
■ Be aware of extension cord while operation. Be careful not to trip over cord. Always guide the cord away from tines at all times.
■ If the appliance strikes a foreign body, examine the application for signs of damage and carry out any necessary repairs before restarting and continuing to work.
■ If the appliance should start to vibrate abnormally, switch off the motor and check for the cause immediately. Vibration is generally a warning of trouble.
■ Holding the guide bar and lift the application to move it from one place to another.
■ Always switch off the appliance, disconnect the plug and wait until the application stops before carrying out maintenance or cleaning work.
CAUTION:
Tines do not stop immediately after switching off.
■ Use caution when cleaning or performing maintenance on the appliance.

■ It is forbidden to move or modify any of the electrical and mechanical safety devices.
Training
■ Read the instructions carefully. Be familiar with the controls and the proper use of the equipment.
Never allow children or people unfamiliar with these instructions to use the machine. Local regulations can restrict the age of the operator.
■ Never work while people, especially children, or pets are nearby.
■ Keep in mind that the operator or user is responsible for
accidents or hazards occurring to other people or their property.
Preparation
■ While working, always wear substantial footwear and long trousers. Do not operate the equipment when barefoot or wearing open sandals. Use of rubber gloves is recommended when working outdoors. Wear protective hair covering to contain long hair.
■ Thoroughly inspect the area where the equipment is to be used and remove all objects which can be thrown up by the machine.
■ Before using, always visually inspect to see that the tools are not worn out or damaged. Replace worn out or damaged elements and bolts in sets to preserve balance.
■ Work only in daylight or in good articial light.
■ Always be sure of your footing on slopes.
■ Walk, never run with the machine.
■ For wheeled rotary machines, work across the slopes, never up
and down.
■ Exercise extreme caution when reversing or pulling the machine towards you.
■ Start the engine carefully according to manufacturer instructions and with feet well away from the tool(s).
■ Do not put your hands or feet near or under rotating parts.
■ Never pick up or carry a machine while the motor is running.
■ Whenever you leave the machine, turn off the machine, unplug
the power cord.
Do not operate cultivator near underground electric cables, telephone lines, pipes, or hoses.
Avoid Dangerous Environments. Do not operate cultivator
• While under the inuence of alcohol, medication, or drugs.
• In rain or in damp or wet areas.
• Where highly ammable liquids or gases are present.
• If cultivator is damaged, or not fully and securely assembled.
Wear safety glasses or goggles when operating this unit. Wear a face or dust mask if the operation is dusty. Such protective equipment is available from your authorized service dealer or retailer.

Cutting Hazard Keep feet and hands away from rotating tines
Electric Shock Precaution Remove plug from the mains immediately if cable is damaged or cut.
