EINSATZGEBIET

STANDARD NUTRIENT BROTH I
For culture and enumeration of fastidious bacteria. Base for enriched special culture media. AE92.1, AE92.2
Approximate formula in g/l:
Peptone ..................................... 15.0
Yeast extract ............................... 3.0
Sodium chloride .......................... 6.0
Dextrose ...................................... 1.0
pH ..................................... 7.5 ± 0.2
PREPARATION
Dissolve 25 g of the medium in a liter of deionised or distilled water. Sterilise by autoclaving at 121 C for 15 minutes.
USES
Standard Nutrient Broth I is used for the cultivation and enumeration of fastidious bacteria. Additionally, the broth is often used as a base to prepare enriched media by supplementation with other nutrients. Thus, the addition of blood, ascites, or serum results in highly enriched media used for the analysis of streptococci, pneumococci, and similar microorganisms.
MICROBIOLOGICAL TEST
The following results were obtained in the performance of the given medium from type cultures after incubation at a temperature of 35 ± 2 °C and observed after 18-24 hours.
