ROCK 5 ITX - Power Supply Quick Reference
Original source-based reference for the Radxa ROCK 5 ITX Mini-ITX motherboard. This is a concise derivative, not
an official Radxa manual.
Choose one supply method
The board can be powered from a 12 V DC adapter, a PC-case supply, or a compatible PoE setup. Use only one of
these methods at a time; combining supplies risks damage. The board powers on automatically when supplied.
DC adapter sizing
Use a center-positive 12 V adapter with a 5.5 mm outer / 2.5 mm inner plug. The publisher lists about 15 W typical
board use and 25 W maximum with USB, SSD, and Wi-Fi peripherals, before counting SATA hard-drive power.
Attached drive Typical power allowance
SSD below 3 W
2.5-inch HDD 3-5 W
3.5-inch HDD 5-10 W
Example: four 3.5-inch HDDs at 10 W each plus a 25 W motherboard maximum make a 65 W load. Radxa
recommends at least a 12 V / 5.5 A adapter in that scenario.
Other supply routes
A PC-case power supply can feed the board through its ATX connector and may power drives separately. The
Radxa 25 W PoE+ module is suited to basic board operation, but is not recommended for powering high-demand
3.5-inch mechanical drives.
