INSTALLATION
INSTALLING A BATTERY
Your intercom system uses one 9-volt battery for power. For the best performance and longest life, we recommend an alkaline battery, such as RadioShack Cat. No. 23-553.
Caution:
size and recommended type.
1. With the master station (the unit with the vol-

Use only a fresh battery of the required
ume control) face up, open its case by insert ing a coin into the slot between the top and bottom of the case and twi sting the coin. Lift off the top case and lay it face down on a flat surface.

2. Snap the battery connector over the 9V battery’s terminals.
3. Put the battery inside the case on top of the foam cushioning material.
4. Snap the case halves together.
Cautions:
• Always remove old or weak batteries. Batteries can leak chemicals that can destroy electronic parts.
• Dispose of an old battery promptly and properly. Do not burn or bury it.

CONNECTING THE STATIONS
Choose the most convenient locations for the master and remote stations. You can place them on a desk or shelf, or mount them on a wall.
Plug the connector on one end of the supplied 66foot-long cable into the remote station’s jack. Plug the connector on the other end of the cable into the master stat ion’s jack.

Notes:
• Be sure to route the cable so it will not be pinched by doors or stepped on.
Use the supplied mounting staples to hole the cable in place. Simply position the cable between the prongs of each staple you need, then gently tap the staple with a hammer until the staple’s gray coating touches the wall.
• To instal l the stations farther than 66 f eet apart, you can make a connecting cable of 22 gauge wire (Cat. No. 278-862) and two

conductor plugs ( Ca t. No. 274-288).

For wall mounting, you need two flat-head screws (not supplied) with heads that fit into the keyhole slots on the bottom of the base.
Drill two holes 2

/8 inches (67 mm) apart. Then thread a screw into each hole, letting the heads extend about
5

the wall.
Align the keyhole slots with the mounting screws and slide the s tation downward to secure it.
