IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
When using your telephone equipment, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of re, electric shock and injury to persons, including the following:
1. Do not use this product near water, for example, near a bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink or laundry tub, in a wet basement or near a swimming pool.
2. Avoid using a telephone (other than a cordless type) during an electrical storm. There may be a remote risk of electric shock from lightning.
3. Do not use the telephone to report a gas leak in the vicinity of the leak.
4. Use only the power cord and batteries indicated in this manual. Do not dispose of batteries in a re. They may explode. Check with local codes for
possible special disposal instructions.

Enables you to document and play back important phone calls by recording then directly through your telephone’s handset
To record only the conversation and not dead time, purchase a voice-activated (VOX) cassette recorder
1 Connect your Recorder Control
The backup battery protects your messages, as well as the date and time from being lost in the event off a power interruption. Attach one 9V battery to the terminal in the battery
compartment. (Battery not supplied; available at your local RadioShack store or online at www.radioshack.com.)
n Note: The Recorder Control does not work
with phones that have a keypad on the handset.
Follow these steps to install the Recorder Control:

1. Disconnect the coiled cord from the
handset jack on the base of your telephone and connect it to the handset jack of the Recorder Control.
2. Connect the short coiled cord of the Recorder Control to the handset jack on the base of your telephone.
3. Insert the Recorder Control’s audio plug into a tape recorder’s external microphone jack to record from the telephone line.

2 Record your calls
Set the REC/PLAY switch on the Recorder Control to REC.
If the tape recorder is voice-activated and RECORD on the recorder has been pressed, recording begins when the recorder detects a voice on the line.
If the tape recorder is not voice-activated, recording begins when you press RECORD on the recorder.
n Note: It is illegal in some states to record a
conversation without the consent of all parties to the conversation, including the phone company. Check the laws in your areas before using the
Record Control.
3 Listen to your recordings
1. Set the REC/PLAY switch on the Recorder Control to PLAY.
2. Insert the Recorder Control’s audio plug into the tape recorder’s earphone jack to play the recording through the telephone’s handset.

You can hear the dial tone or a caller on the line while playing back a recording through the handset.
Playing back a recording of a touch-tone number through the handset might cause the number to be dialed.
Lightning
Your Recorder Control has built-in protection circuits to reduce the risk of damage from surges in telephone line and power line current. These protection circuits meet or exceed the FCC requirements. However, lightning striking the telephone or power lines can damage your Recorder Control.
FCC Information
This equipment complies with Part 68 of the FCC rules and the requirements adopted by the ACTA. On the back of this equipment is a label that contains, among other information, a product identier in the format US:AAAEQ##TXXXX. If requested, this number must be provided to the telephone company.
If this equipment causes harm to the telephone network, the telephone

company will notify you in advance (or as soon as possible) if they need to temporarily disable service. You will be advised of your right to le a complaint with the FCC if you believe it is necessary.
Your telephone company may make changes in its facilities, equipment, operations, or procedures that could affect the operation of your equipment.
If your Mini Recorder Controller is not performing as it should, take it to your local RadioShack store for assistance. To locate your nearest RadioShack, use the store locator feature on RadioShack’s website www.radioshack.com, or call 1-800-The Shack (843-7422) and follow the menu options.
The customer cannot make repairs to this equipment.
If your home has specially wired alarm equipment connected to the telephone line, ensure the installation of this equipment does not disable your alarm equipment.

Limited Warranty
RadioShack warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use by the original purchaser for one (1) year after the date of pur- chase from a RadioShack-owned store or an authorized RadioShack franchisee or dealer. RADIOSHACK MAKES NO OTHER EXPRESS WARRANTIES.
This warranty does not cover: (a) damage or failure caused by or attributable to abuse, misuse, failure to follow instructions, improper installation or maintenance, alteration, accident, Acts of God (such as oods or lightning), or excess voltage or current; (b) improper or incorrectly performed repairs by persons who are not a RadioShack Authorized Service Facility; (c) consumables such as fuses or batteries; (d) ordinary wear and tear or cosmetic damage; (e) transportation, shipping or insurance costs; (f) costs of product removal, installation, set-up service, adjustment or reinstallation; and (g) claims by persons other than the original purchaser.
Should a problem occur that is covered by this warranty, take the product and the RadioShack sales receipt as proof of purchase date to any RadioShack store in the U.S. RadioShack will, at its option, unless otherwise provided by law: (a) repair the product without charge for parts and labor; (b) replace the product with the same or a comparable product; or (c) refund the purchase price. All replaced parts and products, and products on which a refund is made, become the property of RadioShack. New or reconditioned parts and products may be used in the performance of warranty service. Repaired or replaced parts and products are warranted for the remainder of the original warranty period. You will be

charged for repair or replacement of the product made after the expiration of the warranty period.
RADIOSHACK EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WAR­RANTIES AND CONDITIONS NOT STATED IN THIS LIMITED WARRANTY. ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES THAT MAY BE IMPOSED BY LAW, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY AND, IF APPLICABLE, THE IMPLIED WARRANTY OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, SHALL EXPIRE ON THE EXPIRATION OF THE STATED WARRANTY PERIOD.
EXCEPT AS DESCRIBED ABOVE, RADIOSHACK SHALL HAVE NO LIABILITY OR RESPONSIBILITY TO THE PURCHASER OF THE PRODUCT OR ANY OTHER PERSON OR ENTITY WITH RESPECT TO ANY LIABILITY, LOSS OR DAMAGE CAUSED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY BY USE OR PERFORMANCE OF THE PRODUCT OR ARISING OUT OF ANY BREACH OF THIS WARRANTY, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY DAMAGES RESULTING FROM INCONVENIENCE AND ANY LOSS OF TIME, DATA, PROPERTY, REVENUE, OR PROFIT AND ANY INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, EVEN IF RADIOSHACK HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
