Quick Start Guide
Overview
This document provides general information about QLogic’s 1-Gigabit Quad Port and 10-Gigabit Dual Port Ethernet
adapter products.
Package Contents
Depending on the product ordered, this package contains one of the following boards:
❑ QLE3044-RJ-CK Quad Port 1GbE adapter (copper RJ45)
❑ QLE3142-CU-CK Dual Port SFP+ 10GbE adapter (twinax)
❑ QLE3142-SR-CK Dual Port SFP+ 10GbE adapter (multi-mode fiber)
❑ QLE3142-LR-CK Dual Port SFP+ 10GbE adapter (single-mode fiber)
Handling and Safety
The adapter card contains sensitive electronic components that are susceptible to Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) and
must be handled with care. The following steps can be taken to ensure proper operation of the product:
❑ When transporting the product, it should be kept in an anti-static bag to protect against ESD.
❑ When inserting or removing the product from the system chassis, the operator should be properly grounded.
❑ Devices on the product can generate high temperatures during normal operation. Use caution when handling
the product.
❑ For the QLE3142-SR-CK and QLE3142-LR-CK optical products:
❑ Use the dust plugs (provided) to keep the high speed optical fiber connectors free from dust and debris
when not in use.
❑ Do not use excessive force when connecting or disconnecting the fiber optic cable.
❑ When routing the fiber optic cable in the system, never exceed a minimum bend radius of 3”.
WARNING!! Note that the light emitted by the optical laser is outside the visible spectrum. Looking directly into either
the optical cable or the optical port can cause serious eye damage.
