Task 1: Remove Anti-Shaking Cushion

1. Open the door on the front of the SmartStor enclosure.

2. Remove Anti-Shaking Cushion from the enclosure to prevent
damage to your disk. see Figure 3.

USB

Be sure your USB connection is to a USB 2.0 port on your MAC. The
older USB 1.1 ports have a data transfer rate of only 12 Mb/s.

To connect the SmartStor to your MAC via USB 2.0:

1. Attach the B connector of the USB cable to the USB connection
on the SmartStor. See Figure 2.

2. Attach the other end of the USB cable to MAC.

FireWire

To use this option, your MAC must have an FireWire connector on the
motherboard or an FireWire HBA card installed. FireWi re 800 and 400
cables have different connectors. Otherwise, the procedure is the same.

To connect the SmartStor to your MAC via FireWire:

1. Attach the B connector of the FireWire cable to the FireWire
connection on the SmartStor. See Figure 2.

2. Attach the other end of the FireWire cable to MAC.

Task 2: Connecting the Power

To power the SmartStor:

1. Attach the power cord on the back of the SmartStor enclosure and
plug the other end into the power source. See Figure 2.

2. On the back of the SmartStor, press the power button. See Figure 2.
It takes about a minute to boot the SmartStor. When fully booted:

• The System Status LED turns blue. See Figure 1.

• The buzzer beeps one time.

Set up the File System

1. The MAC warning window appears if there is no file system on
your MAC. Click Initialize button to set up the file system.

2. Choose a file system format from the dropdown menu. (The
HFS+ file system is recommended for MAC users.)

Task 3: Installing the Software

The SmartNAVI software sets up the SmartStor, performs backups,
and other management functions.

OS Support

The following operating systems support SmartNAVI:

Installation

1. Please double-click the SmartNAVI.dmg file to
open and install the disk of SmartNAVI Image.
(right)

2. Click the SmartNAVI Image to open the folder.
(right)

3. Drag the SmartNAVI.app icon to
the right side Applications folder.

The SmartStor appears on your MAC as a hard disk drive. See Figure

4.

Opening SmartNAVI

To open SmartNAVI for SmartStor setup:

1. Click the SmartNAVI icon in the
Macintosh Dock (right).

The SmartNAVI opens.

Warnin g

The electronic components within the SmartStor are
sensitive to damage from Electro-Static Discharge
(ESD). Observe appropriate precautions at all times
when handling the SmartStor or its subassemblies.

Warnin g

The fan contains hazardous moving parts. Keep
fingers and other body parts away.

Caution

Use of USB or FireWire cables longer than those
supplied with the SmartStor is not recommended.

Important

To configure the SmartStor, you must install
SmartNAVI.
See “Task 3: Installing the Software”.

工作1：取出防震護墊

1. 開啟 SmartStor 機箱的前門。

2. 從機箱取出取出防震護墊，以防止損壞磁碟，請參圖 3。

USB

確定您的 USB 連線至 MAC 上的 USB 2.0 連接埠。舊型的USB 1.1 連
接埠僅具有 12 Mb/s 的資料傳輸率。

若想透過 USB 2.0 將 SmartStor 連接至您的 MAC 時：

1. 將USB 纜線的 B接頭連接至 SmartStor上的 USB連線。請參閱圖2。

FireWire

若想使用本選項時，MAC 的主機板上必須具有 FireWire 接頭，或安裝

若想透過 FireWire 將 SmartStor 連接至您的 MAC 時：

工作 2：連接電源

USB

FireWire

Aufgabe 1: Entfernen Sie das Anti­Vibrationskissen

1. Öffnen Sie die Frontklappe des SmartStor-Gehäuses.

2. Entfernen Sie das Anti-Vibrationskissen aus dem Gehäuse, um
Schäden Ihres Laufwerks zu vermeiden. Sie Abbildung 3.

USB

Stellen Sie sicher, dass Sie die USB Verbindung mit einem USB 2.0
Port Ihres MAC herstellen. Die alten USB 1.1 Ports bieten nur eine
Datentransferrate von 12 Mb/s.

Anschluss des SmartStor an Ihren MAC via USB 2.0:

1. Schließen Sie den B Stecker des USB Kabels an den USB
Anschluss des SmartStor an. Siehe Abbildung 2.

2. Schließen Sie das andere Ende des USB Kabels an den MAC an.

FireWire

Um diese Option zu nutzen, muss Ihr MAC über einen FireWire
Anschluss auf dem Mainboard oder eine installierte FireWire HBA
Karte verfügen. FireWire 800 und 400 Kabel haben unterschiedliche
Anschlüsse. Ansonsten ist der Vorgang gleich.

Anschluss des SmartStor an Ihren MAC via FireWire:

1. Schließen Sie den B Stecker des FireWire Kabels an den
FireWire Anschluss des SmartStor an. Siehe Abbildung 2.

2. Schließen Sie das andere Ende des FireWire Kabels an den MAC
an.

Schritt 2: Anschließen an die Stromver­sorgung

So schließen Sie den SmartStor an die Stromversorgung an:

1. Schließen Sie das Stromkabel auf der Rückseite des SmartStor­Gehäuses an und schließen Sie das andere Ende an die
Stromversorgung an. Siehe Abbildung 2.

2. Drücken Sie den EIN/AUS-Schalter auf der SmartStor-Rückseite.
Siehe Abbildung 2. Das Starten des SmartStor dauert ca. eine
Minute. Nach abgeschlossenem Startvorgang:

• Die Systemstatus-LED leuchtet blau. Siehe Abbildung 1.

• Es wird ein einmaliges akustisches Signal ausgegeben.

Einstellen des Dateisystems

1. Eine MAC Warnmeldung wird erscheinen, wenn kein Dateisystem
auf Ihrem MAC gefunden wird. Klicken Sie auf die Schaltfläche
Initialize (Initialisieren), um das Dateisystem einzustellen.

2. Wählen Sie ein Dateisystemformat aus dem Dropdown-Menü.
(Das HFS+ Dateisystem wird für MAC User empfohlen.)

Schritt 3: Installieren der Software

Die SmartNAVI Software stellt den SmartStor ein und führt Backups
und andere Verwaltungsfunktionen aus.

OS Unterstützung

Die folgenden Betriebssysteme unterstützen SmartNAVI:

Installation

1. Klicken Sie doppelt auf die SmartNAVI.dmg
Datei, um das SmartNAVI Image zu öffnen
und als Laufwerk installieren. (rechts)

2. Klicken Sie auf das SmartNAVI Image, um den
Ordner zu öffnen. (rechts)

3. Ziehen Sie das SmartNAVI.app
Symbol in den Ordner
Anwendungen auf der rechten
Seite.

Der SmartStor wird auf Ihrem MAC als
Festplattenlaufwerk erscheinen. Siehe Abbildung 4.

SmartNAVI öffnen

Um SmartNAVI zur SmartStor Einstellung
zu öffnen:

1. Klicken Sie auf das Symbol
SmartNAVI im Macintosh Dock
(rechts).

Das SmartNAVI wird geöffnet.

Warnung

Die elektronischen Komponenten im SmartStor
können durch elektrostatische Entladungen (ESD)
beschädigt werden. Beachten Sie stets die
entsprechenden Vorsichtsmaßnahmen, wenn Sie den
SmartStor oder seine Bauteile handhaben.

Warnung

Der Lüfter enthält gefährliche, bewegliche Teile. Halten
Sie Finger und andere Körperteile davon fern.

Achtung

Die Benutzung von USB oder FireWire Kabeln, welche
länger sind als die dem SmartStor beiliegenden, wird
nicht empfohlen.

Wichtig

Um den SmartStor konfigurieren zu können, müssen
Sie zunächst SmartNAVI installieren.

Tâche 1 : Enlever le coussin Anti-Shaking

1. Ouvrez la porte avant du boîtier du SmartStor.

2. Enlever le coussin Anti-Shaking de son emplacement pour
empêcher tout dommage à votre disque. voir schéma 3.

USB

Asûrez vous que votre raccordement USB est à un port USB 2.0 sur
votre MAC. Les ports plus anciens d'USB 1.1 n’ont qu’un débit de 12
Mb/s.

Pour relier SmartStor à votre MAC par l'intermédiaire d'USB 2.0 :

1. Attacher le connecteur B du câble USB au raccordement USB sur
le SmartStor. Voir schéma 2.

2. Fixez l'autre extrémité du câble USB au MAC.

FireWire

Pour utiliser cette option, votre MAC doit posséder un connecteur
FireWire sur la carte mère ou une carte FireWire HBA installée. Les
FireWire câbles 800 et 400 ont différents connecteurs. Autrement, le
procédé est identique.

Pour relier SmartStor à votre MAC par l'intermédiaire d' FireWire :

1. Attacher le connecteur B du câble FireWire au raccordement
FireWire sur le SmartStor. Voir schéma 2.

2. Fixez l'autre extrémité du câble FireWire au MAC.

Tâche 2 : Mise sous tension

Pour mettre le SmartStor sous tension :

1. Fixez le cordon d’alimentation à l’arrière du boîtier SmartStor et
branchez l’autre extrémité dans la source d’alimentation.
Reportez-vous à la Figure 2.

2. Au dos du SmartStor, pressez le bouton de mise en marche. Voir
schéma 2. Cela prend environ une minute pour initialiser le
SmartStor. Une fois entièrement initialisé :

• La DEL d’état du système devient bleue. Reportez-vous à la
Figure 1.

• Le buzzer émet un bip.

Installer le fichier système

1. La fenêtre d'avertissement de MAC apparaît s'il n'y a aucun
fichier système sur votre MAC. Cliquez Initialize (Initialiser) pour
installer le fichier système.

2. Choisir un format de fichier système depuis menu qui s’ouvre. (Le
fichier système HFS+ est recommandé pour les utilisateurs de
MAC.)

Tâche 3 : Installation du logiciel

Le logiciel de SmartNAVI installe le SmartStor, remplit des
sauvegardes, et d'autres fonctions de gestion.

Systèmes d’exploitation supportés

Les systèmes d’exploitation suivant supportent SmartNAVI :

Installation

1. Veuillez double-cliquer le fichier de
SmartNAVI.dmg pour ouvrir et installer le
disque de SmartNAVI Image. (droit)

2. Glissez SmartNAVI Image pour ouvrir la
chemise. (droit)

3. Glissez l'icône SmartNAVI.app du
coté droit du fichier d'applications.

Le SmartStor apparaît sur votre MAC
comme un disque dur. Voir le schéma 4.

Avertissement

SmartStor sont sensibles et risquent d’être
endommagés par une décharge électrostatique
(ESD). Prenez les précautions appropriées lorsque
vous manipulez le SmartStor ou ses sous-ensembles.

Avertissement

Le ventilateur contient des pièces mobiles
dangereuses. N’approchez pas les doigts et autres
parties du corps trop près.

Attention

L'utilisation de l'USB câble ou de FireWire câble plus
long que ceux fournis avec le SmartStor n'est pas
recommandés.

Pour configurer le SmartStor, vous devez installer
SmartNAVI.

Paso 1: Extracción de la almohadilla
anti-vibraciones

1. Abra la puerta del panel frontal de la caja de SmartStor.

2. Extraiga la almohadilla anti-vibraciones de la carcasa para evitar
que dañe su disco. Vea la ilustración 3.

USB

Asegúrese que su conexión USB se realice al puerto USB 2.0 de
su MAC. Los antiguos puertos USB 1.1 tienen una velocidad de
transferencia de datos de sólo 12 Mb/s.

Para conectar el SmartStor a su MAC a través del USB 2.0:

1. Conecte el conector B del cable USB a la conexión USB del
SmartStor. Consulte la ilustración 2.

2. Conecte el otro extremo del cable USB al MAC.

FireWire

Para utilizar esta opción, su MAC debe tener un conector FireWire en
la placa madre o tener instalada una tarjeta FireWire HBA. Los cables
FireWire 800 y 400 tienen conexiones diferentes. De otro modo, el
procedimiento es el mismo.

Para conectar el SmartStor a su MAC a través del FireWire:

1. Conecte el conector B del cable FireWire a la conexión FireWire
del SmartStor. Consulte la ilustración 2.

2. Conecte el otro extremo del cable FireWire al MAC.

Paso 2: Conexión de la alimentación eléctrica

Para encender la unidad SmartStor:

1. Conecte el cable de alimentación en la parte posterior de la caja
de SmartStor y enchufe el otro extremo en la fuente de
alimentación. Véase la Ilustración 2.

2. Pulse el botón de encendido ubicado en la parte posterior de
SmartStor. Vea la ilustración 2. SmartStor tarda

aproximadamente un minuto en iniciarse. Cuando se haya
iniciado completamente:

• La luz LED de estado del sistema se pondrá de color azul.
Véase la Ilustración 1.

• El zumbador pitará una vez.

Configuración del sistema de archivos

1. Aparece la ventana de advertencia de MAC si no hay un sistema
de archivos en su MAC. Haga clic en el botón Iniciar (Initialize)
para configurar el sistema de archivos..

2. Seleccione el formato de sistema de archivos del menú
desplegable. (Se recomienda el sistema de archivos HFS+ para
usuarios MAC).

Paso 3: Instalación del software

El software SmartNAVI instala SmartStor, lleva a cabo las copias de
seguridad y otras funciones de gestión.

Compatibilidad del Sistema Operativo (OS)

Los siguientes sistemas operativos son compatibles con SmartNAVI:

Instalación

1. Haga doble clic en el archive SmartNAVI.dmg
para abrir e instalar el disco de la imagen
SmartNAVI. (Derecha)

2. Haga clic en la Imagen de SmartNAVI para
abrir la carpeta. (Derecha)

3. Arrastre el icono SmartNAVI.app al
lado derecho de la carpeta
Aplicaciones.

SmartStor aparece en su MAC como una unidad de disco duro.

Abrir SmartNAVI

1. Haga clic en el icono de SmartNAVI
ubicado en el escritorio de Macintosh
