Thisuser manualcontainsinstructionsto Polar H9 heart rate sensor.
Polar H9 is a high quality heart ratesensor for your everydaysports. It comeswith thePolar Soft Strap and tracks
your heart rateaccurately. Polar H9 isideal with the Polar Beat app aswell asmany 3rd party apps: you can turn
your phone into a fitnesstracker easily. Further,Bluetooth®,ANT+™and 5 kHztechnologiesensure connections to
alargevariety of sportsdevicesand gym equipment. Thanksto chest strap measurement Polar H9 reacts instantaneously to what happens in your body and givesyou accurate calorie burn.

WEARINGTHE HEART RATE SENSOR
1. Moisten theelectrodeareaof the strap.
2. Fasten thestrap around your chest and adjust the strap to fit snugly.

3. Attach theconnector.
Detach the connector from thestrap and rinsethestrap under runningwater after every use.Sweat and moisture
maykeep theelectrodeswet and theheart rate sensor activated. Thiswill reducethetransmitter batterylife.

GETTINGSTARTED
Polar H9 heart ratesensor iscompatiblewith Bluetooth® and ANT+™devicesthat support heart rate service.Aseparateapplication isrequired to view heart ratedata on the receivingdevice(for example,a smartphone).It isrecommended to usethe Polar Beat application but it is also possible to useother applications.
Note that theH9transmitsyour heart rate signal simultaneouslyvia Bluetooth and ANT+.You can turn off the
ANT+ transmission from theBeat settingsunder HRsensor.
If you havea Polar Flow account Polar Beat automatically synchronizesyour training filesto it. Pleasenote that you
must sign in to your Polar Flow account when startingPolar Beat for thesynchronization to work.
When using the Polar H9 for the first time, you need to pair the heart rate sensor with your receiving
device. For more information on pairing, see the mobile application manufacturer's instructions.
Polar H9 heart ratesensor isalso compatiblewith Polar trainingcomputersusingGymLink (5 kHz)technology. For
more information,go to support.polar.com.
To ensure sufficient transmission range from your Polar H9 heart ratesensor to thereceivingdevice,keepthe
devicein front of you. Agood place isin a front pocket or fixed on a belt. Do not wear thereceivingdeviceon your
back (for example,in a back pocket or backpack).

Theheart ratesensor needsto bepaired directly in the Polar Beat app.

To pair aheart rate sensor with Polar Beat:
1. Wear thesensor.
2. Open Polar Beat app on your Android or iOSdevice.
3. Go to thesettingssection of the app and find HRsensor. When your sensor is found, tap PAIR.
Note that theH9transmitsyour heart rate signal simultaneouslyvia Bluetooth and ANT+.You can turn off the
ANT+ transmission from theBeat settingsunder HRsensor.

USINGYOUR HEART RATE SENSORIN WATER
Polar H9 heart ratesensor iswater resistant. TheGymLink technology canbeused in water activities,but
Bluetooth® wireless technology will not work in water. Pleasenoticethat seaand pool water arevery conductive,
and electrodesmay short-circuit,preventingECGsignalsfrom being detected by the heart rate sensor.
When using a bathing suit, the best performance isachieved by wearingtheheart ratesensor underneath it.
FIRMWARE UPDATE
With thePolar H9 heart ratesensor, we’ll be ableto bringupdatesto your sensor to improveit or even bringnew
functionalitiesto it. You’llbeable to update the firmwarevia the Polar Beat or Polar Flow mobile app.
To receive the firmware updates,your H9 heart ratesensor needsto bepaired with the Polar Beat or Polar Flow
app, Android or iOS. Theapp will let you know if there'san update available and will guideyou through it.
Sensor pairing isneeded after update / battery replacement, if you useH9with Polar A360, M400,A300,M450,
V650,M200,M600,VantageM, VantageVor 3rd partyapp / device.Seeinstructions.
CARINGFOR YOURHEART RATE SENSOR
Theheart ratesensor isa high-tech instrument that should be handled with care. Follow thecaring instructionsto
ensure reliable measurement and to maximizethelife span of theheart ratesensor. Thefollowing instructionswill
help you fulfill guaranteeobligations.
Connector: Detach theconnector from thestrap after every useand dry theconnector with asoft towel. Clean the
connector with amild soap and water solution when needed. Never usealcohol or any abrasivematerial(e.g.steel
wool or cleaning chemicals).

Strap: Rinsethestrap under runningwater after every useand hangto dry. Clean the strap gently with a mild soap
and water solution when needed. Do not usemoisturizingsoaps,becausethey can leave residue on the strap. Do
not soak, iron,dry clean or bleach the strap. Do not stretchthestrap or bend theelectrodeareassharply.
Dry and store the strap and the connector separately to maximize the heart rate sensor battery lifetime. Keep the heart ratesensor in a cool and dry place.Do not store the heart ratesensor wet in non-breathing
material,such asa sportsbag,to prevent snap oxidation. Do not exposetheheart rate sensor to direct sunlight for
extended periods.
Check the label on your strap tosee if it ismachine washable.Never put thestrap or the connector in a dryer!
BATTERIES
Thebattery level of your heart rate sensor isdisplayed on the receivingdevice.
All connectors haveuser changeablebatteries. Tochangethebattery yourself, follow the instructions below.
1. Lever thebattery cover open by using asmall flat-headed tool.
2. Removetheold battery from the battery cover.
3. Insert the new battery (CR2025)inside the cover with thenegative (-)side outwards.
4. Align theledge on thebattery cover with theslot on theconnector and pressthe battery cover back into
place.You should hear asnap.

When changingthebattery,makesure the sealing ringisnot damaged,in which caseyou should replace it with a
new one.
You can purchase the sealing ring/battery kits at well-equipped Polar retailersand authorizedPolar Services. In the
USAand Canada,theadditionalsealingringsare available at authorized Polar ServiceCenters. In theUSAthesealing
ring/battery kits arealso available at www.shoppolar.com.
Keep batteriesawayfrom children.If swallowed,contact a doctor immediately.Batteriesshould bedisposed of in
compliance with local regulations.
