POLAR GOFIT

WelcometothePolarGoFit webservice! PolarGoFit is apart of thePolarPhysical Educationsolution. It supports bothactivity monitoringandheart ratemonitoring. Thewebserviceenables teachers andstudents to track students' daily activity andthetimespent indifferent activity zones. It alsoenables teachers and students totrack students' heart ratedataduringPE lessons andthetimespent indifferent heart ratezones. Inaddition, PolarGoFit webserviceprovides amanual fitness testingsystem.

Teachers canusePolarGoFit fororganizingcourses andfitness testing. They canalsofollow anddocument eachstudent's effort andimprovement inandout of theclassroom. Thewebservicemakes it easy tocreate reports andtrack long-term progress. Thedatacanalsobesharedwithparents andadministrators.

Students canusePolarGoFit toreview theirdaily activity andheart ratedata, andtest results. PolarGoFit helps them learnahealthy lifestyle.

SIGN-IN

SignintothewebserviceonthePolarGoFit homepage(www.polargofit.com). Thefirst teacheruseraccount was createdwhenthelicenses werepurchased. A link toselect apasswordfortheaccount was providedin thewelcomeemail. Moreteacheruseraccounts canbecreatedaftersigningin. Bothteachers andstudents usethesamesign-inpage.

Eachteachermust accept thelicenseagreement whensigningintothewebserviceforthefirst time. The licenceagreement canbeopenedby clicking Legal Notice inthePolarGoFit footer.

GETTING STARTED

ACTIVITY MONITORING

Follow thesteps below whenstartingtousethePolaractivity monitoringsolution. Seealso Activity monitoringworkflow formoreinformationonthegeneral workflow inactivity monitoring.

Activity datacannot betransferredfrom theactivity monitors tothewebservicebeforethemonitors have beenmanagedinthePolarGoFit webservice.

1.Set upthewebserviceaccordingtotheinstructions inchapter SettingupPolarGoFit.

2.Createan activity course inthewebservice.

3.Assigntheactivity monitors tostudents whoparticipateinthecourse. Theactivity monitors are assignedindividually foreachstudent.

4.Givetheactivity monitors tothestudents. Theactivity monitors arewornonthewrist.

5.Transfertheactivity data from theactivity monitors tothewebserviceregularly withtheFlowLink data transferunit andtheWebSync software.

PolarActivehas room for21days intheactivity diary. Whenactivity datais transferredtotheweb service, it is removedfrom theactivity monitor. If activity datais not transferredtothewebserviceduringthe course, theactivity monitorstops recordingdaily activity after21days of use. Thewebserviceinforms onthe

Dashboard how many days it has beensincelast datatransfer. Students canalsotransferactivity datafrom PolarActivetothewebservicewiththeirownusercredential.

Daily activity canalsobetrackedwithout thewebserviceusingtheactivity progress poster. Formore informationontheactivity monitors, seethePolarActiveusermanual.

HEART RATE MONITORING

FITNESS TESTING

1.Set upthewebserviceaccordingtotheinstructions inchapter SettingupPolarGoFit.

2.Createatemplate by selectingthetest items, oruseanexistingtemplate.

3.Createatest by choosingthestudents.

4.Carry out thetest and entertheresults intothewebservice.

YoucanuseaniPadinthetest situationandentertheresults intothewebserviceas testingproceeds. Or youcanwritetheresults by handonprintedresult sheets, andenterthem intothewebservicelater.

SETTING UP POLAR GOFIT

Werecommendthat thefollowingsteps arecompletedwhenstartingtousethePolarGoFit webserviceinthe school. School settings canbemodifiedlaterwithany teacher's useraccount. Seealso Activity monitoring workflow, Heart ratemonitoringworkflow and Fitness testingworkflow formoreinformationonusingPolar GoFit.

Thesystem must beconfiguredonly once. Changes (new teacheraccounts, new students, new monitors, new sensors)canbedoneat any point.

Youcanreturntothis list by selecting Setting up Polar GoFit from thenavigationpanel ontheleft. For furtherinstructions oneachstep, click onthelinks below.

1.If youaregoingtousePolarGoFit foractivity monitoring, makesureyouhaveall thenecessary components availablefor datatransferbetweenanactivity monitorandPolarGoFit.

2.Import or create students in School > Students.

3.If youaregoingtousePolarGoFit foractivity and/orheart ratemonitoring, Registertheactivity mon- itors intothewebservicein School > Monitors, and/or registertheheart ratesensors intothewebservicein School > Sensors.

4.If youaregoingtousePolarGoFit foractivity and/orheart ratemonitoring, Configureevaluationtypes in School > Evaluation.Youcanalsousethedefault grades/evaluationtypes.

5.Createuseraccounts fortheotherteachers in School > Teacher. Teacheruseraccounts arelimited basedonthenumberof purchasedlicenses.

Aftersettingupthewebservice, youcancontinueby creatingthefirst activity course or creatingthefirst heart ratecourse intheCourses section, or creatingthefirst test template intheFitness tests section.

WORKFLOWS

ACTIVITY MONITORING WORKFLOW

Thegeneral activity monitoringworkflow inthePolarGoFit webserviceis describedbelow. Set upthesystem first. Thenproceedtocreatethefirst courseandcontinueas showninthepicturebelow.

Youcanhaveseveral activity courses inthePolarGoFit webservicesimultaneously. A student can

participateinoneactivity courseat atime. Anactivity monitorcanbeassignedtoonestudent at atime.

1.Createanactivity course. Entercourseinformation, coursetype, activity coursesettings andmonitor settings.

2.Addstudents tothecourse.

3.Assignactivity monitors tothestudents.

4.Givetheactivity monitors tothestudents whowearthem ontheirwrists. Activity measurement starts automatically. Formoreinformationonhow tousethePolarActiveactivity monitor, seethePolarActiveusermanual.

5.Transferdaily activity dataregularly (at least onceaweek)tothewebservice. Bothteachers andstudents cantransferactivity datafrom PolarActivetothewebservice.

PolarActivehas room for21days intheactivity diary. Whenactivity datais transferredtotheweb service, it is removedfrom theactivity monitor. If activity datais not transferredtothewebserviceduringthecourse, theactivity monitorstops recordingdaily activity after21days of use.

6.Review thedaily activity data duringandaftercourse.

7.Collect theactivity monitors back from thestudents afterthecourseends. Thewebserviceevaluates students automatically basedontheselectedevaluationtype. Print out courseevaluationreport and detailedstudent report.

HEART RATE MONITORING WORKFLOW

Thegeneral heart ratemonitoringworkflow inthePolarGoFit webserviceis describedbelow. Set upthe system first. Thenproceedtocreatethefirst courseandcontinueas showninthepicturebelow.

Youcanhaveseveral heart ratecourses inthePolarGoFit webservicesimultaneously. Students can participateinseveral heart ratecourses at atime, andthey canhaveseveral heart ratesensors assignedto them. Moreover, oneheart ratesensorcanbeassignedtoseveral students at atimeprovidedthat the students sharingaheart ratesensorarenot participatinginthesamecourse.

1.Createaheart ratecourse. Entercourseinformation, coursetypeandheart ratecoursesettings.

2.Addstudents tothecourse.

3.Assignheart ratesensors tothestudents.

4.Students weartheheart ratesensors duringPE lessons. Teachermonitors andshares heart ratedata viathePolarGoFit app. ThePolarGoFit appdisplays eachstudent's heart rateas apercentageof the individual maximum heart ratevalue. It alsoshows therewardbadges students collect. For

instructions onhow toweartheheart ratesensor, seetheheart ratesensorusermanual.

Students pick uptheirassignedsensors inthebeginningof eachPE lessonandreturnthem after thelesson. Alternatively, if eachsensoris assignedtoonly onestudent, students may keeptheir assignedsensors at home. It is alsopossibleforindividual students topurchasetheirownsensors and wearthem insteadof school sensors.

5.Datatransfer betweenthePolarGoFit appandPolarGoFit is automatic.

6.Review theheart ratedata duringandaftercourseinbothPolarGoFit andthePolarGoFit app.

7.Thecourseends. Thewebserviceevaluates students automatically basedontheselectedevaluation type. Print out courseevaluationreport and detailedstudent report.

FITNESS TESTING WORKFLOW

Thegeneral fitness testingworkflow inthePolarGoFit webserviceis describedbelow. Set upthesystem first. Thenproceedtocreateatemplateandcontinueas showninthepicturebelow.

1. Createatemplate by choosingthetest items, oruseanexistingtemplate.

Inadditiontotheoptional test items that youcanchoose, Height & Weight is includedineach templateby default. This is becausestudents' height andweight influencetheevaluationof theirperformance.

2.Createatest by choosingthestudents.

3.Arrangetestingand entertheresults intoPolarGoFit.

4.View thetest results and edit them if necessary.

5.Print out thereports.

USER ACCOUNTS

TEACHER USER ACCOUNTS

Thenumberof teacheruseraccounts is limitedbasedonthepurchasedlicenses. Theschool receives thefirst useraccount toPolarGoFit servicewhenthelicenses arepurchased. Afterthesign-in, moreuseraccounts canbecreated. It is recommendedthat eachteacherhas theirownuseraccount becausecreatedcourses are attachedtoteacheraccounts. Separateaccounts helptoorganizecourses moreefficiently.

Thenumberof availablelicenses forteacheruseraccounts is shownat thetopof teacherlist. Toview the teacherlist goto School > Teachers.

Teachers signintothewebserviceto:

createandmanagecourses,

organizeandcarry out fitness testing,

review, analyzeandfollow upstudents' activity data, heart ratedataandtest results,

createreports,

manageschool settings.

Teachers signintothewebserviceonPolarGoFit homepage(www.polargofit.com)withtheemail address andpassword. Whenateacheraccount is created, alink toselect apasswordis sent by email. Thepassword canbereset aftersign-inunder School > Teachers. Thesameusercredentials arealsousedwithWebSync.

STUDENT USER ACCOUNTS

Thenumberof student useraccounts is not limitedinPolarGoFit. Students cansignintothewebserviceto review theiractivity andheart ratedata, andtest results. Students canseeonly theirowndata.

Students signintothewebserviceonPolarGoFit homepage(www.polargofit.com)withausernameand password. Theusernameconsists of school alias andstudent ID (school-alias/student-ID), forexample polarschool/johnadams. Thesameusercredentials arealsousedtotransferactivity datafrom theactivity monitors tothewebservicewithPolarWebSync software.

Passwords aregeneratedautomatically whenstudents areaddedorimportedtothewebservice.

A passwordlist canbeprintedout onthecoursepage. Thelist contains courseinformation, student names, usernames, passwords, andtheaddress of thesign-inpage. Forsecurity reasons, thepasswords canonly be printedout once. If youprint out thelist again, thepasswords will not show. A Passwordassignedpreviously text will appearinstead. A passwordcanberegeneratedwithany teacheraccount under School > Students.

PRODUCTS

MONITORS IN POLAR GOFIT

PolarGoFit is compatiblewiththePolarActiveactivity monitors. It is mandatory toregistertheactivity monitors toPolarGoFit beforestartingtousethem. Activity datacannot betransferredfrom theactivity monitors tothewebservicebeforethemonitors areregisteredtothePolarGoFit webservice.

Monitors areregisteredtothewebserviceonly once. Duringeachcourse, theactivity monitors will be assignedforstudents sothat theactivity datacanbetransferredtothewebservice.

Therecanbeupto1248PolarActiveactivity monitors inthewebservice. ThemonitorIDs areset tothe activity monitors inPolarGoFit whenthemonitors areregisteredtothewebservice. A monitorID consists of aletter(A-Z)andanumber(1-48). ThemonitorID tells whichcasetheactivity monitorbelongs to.

SENSORS IN POLAR GOFIT

PolarGoFit is compatiblewiththePolarheart ratesensors that use Bluetooth® Smart technology. It is mandatory toregistertheheart ratesensors toPolarGoFit beforestartingtousethem. Heart ratedatacannot

bemonitoredinthePolarGoFit apportransferredtothePolarGoFit webservicebeforethesensors have beenregistered.

ThesensorIDs areinsertedintoPolarGoFit at registration, andtheregisteredsensors arelabeledwith stickers. Sensors areregisteredtothewebserviceonly once.

Afterregistration, thesensors canbeassignedtostudents sothat theirheart ratedatacanbemonitoredinthe PolarGoFit appandtransferredtothewebservice. Onesensorcanbeassignedtoseveral students at the sametimeprovidedthat thestudents arenot participatinginthesamecourse. Moreover, students can participateinseveral heart ratecourses at atime, whichis why they canalsohaveseveral sensors assigned tothem.

It is possibleforindividual students topurchasetheirownheart ratesensors andwearthem insteadof school sensors. Sensors purchasedby students needtoberegisteredtoPolarGoFit, too. Formore information, see Usingapersonal heart ratesensor.

DATA TRANSFER

DATA TRANSFER IN ACTIVITY MONITORING

Totransferdatabetweenanactivity monitorandPolarGoFit, makesureyouhavethefollowingavailable:

PolarGoFit usercredentials,

aPolarFlowLink datatransferunit, and

thePolarWebSync software(version2.4ornewer).

YoucandownloadWebSync at www.polar.com/support. Toinstall WebSync, downloadtheinstaller, run it andfollow theinstructions onthescreen.

Tostart thedatatransfer, plugtheFlowLink datatransferunit intoafreeUSB port andplaceanactivity monitorontheFlowLink withthedisplay facingdown. Whentheactivity monitoris alignedcorrectly, theAlign light is lit ontheFlowLink.

Whentheactivity monitoris detectedandWebSync is running, WebSync prompts forPolarGoFit user credentials. TheWebSync icon turns greeninthetask bar(Windows)/ menubar(OS X)simultaneously.

DATA TRANSFER IN HEART RATE MONITORING

Heart ratedatais transferredfrom theheart ratesensors tothePolarGoFit appautomatically via Bluetooth®

Smart technology, providedthat all thepreparations (settingupthesystem, creatingaheart ratecourse and assigningheart ratesensors)havebeendoneas instructed. Teacherjust needs tosignintothePolarGoFit appinthebeginningof aPE lesson, select theright course, andstart anew lesson. Students weartheir assignedheart ratesensors andstart exercisingas instructedby theteacher.

AlsothedatatransferbetweenthePolarGoFit appandPolarGoFit is automatic. Thereis noneedfor additional datatransfersoftwareorequipment. All youneedis anInternet connection.

Before PE lesson: Courseandstudent datais synchronizedfrom PolarGoFit tothePolarGoFit app.

Just before PE lesson: Teachercanedit exercisetarget inthePolarGoFit app. If asensoris lost orbroken, ateachercanassignanew sensortoastudent inthePolarGoFit app. Thechanges aresynchronizedfrom thePolarGoFit apptoPolarGoFit. Visitors areaddedtolessons inthePolarGoFit app.

During PE lesson: Heart ratedatais transferredfrom theheart ratesensors tothePolarGoFit appvia
