FEATURES

Self-illuminating

Function Switches

When the PLAY, FF, REW or PAUSE function switch is

gently

touched,

it

lights

up green

while

the REC switch

lights up red to indicate the

tape run mode. This makes it

so easy

to

check the

tape

travel. All you have

to

do

to

operate

the

deck

is

to merely touch the

function

switches

with your finger-tips since the- drive mechanism is electroni-

cally controlled

by

a

logic

IC. To

change over

the

tape

travel mode, just

go from one function switch to another

there's

no need to

touch

the STOP switch first.

Another

illumination

feature is

the use of LEDs to display

the tape

selectors and Dolby

NR system as

well as other main func-

tions in a concentrated area of the deck. These allow

you

to

discriminate

quickly

and

accurately between the

'

deck s

operating modes.

Two Motors and

Logic Control for Accurate and

Stable

Tape Travel

A high-torque

DC servo

motor

which

is highly

immune

to load

fluctuations and

which yields a

silent and precise

rotation is employed

for

capstan drive while a DC torque

motor

which provides

a stable rotational

torque is adopted

for the

reel drive. Along with the capstan which is

precision

machined to micron dimensions and the

flywheel with

its

superb

dynamic balance, these motors help achieve a wow/

flutter

of less than 0.04%

(

.

Furthermore,the drive

)

mechanisms

are electronically controlled

by a logic IC and

so operation is always stable.

Florescan Peak

Monitoring

Capability

This

Florescan meter with a 20 dB to +8 dB range re-

sponds

sensitively

even

to

momentary

high-level

signal

bursts.

A total of

12

segments for

each

channel are

The

meter's

range

of

coverage is

a wide

when metal tapes with their wide

dynamic

range in the high-frequency range are used.
