Preparing for use
1 Wash all detachable parts (see chapter ‘Cleaning’).
2 To adjust the length of the mains cord, push the
mains cord inside the main unit into the cord storage facility (Fig. 2).
3 Push the spout into the juice collector
(‘click’). (Fig. 3)
4 Place and turn the juice collector anticlockwise to
x it onto the motor unit (‘click’) (Fig. 4).
Always check the sieve before use. If you detect any cracks or damage, do not use the appliance. Contact the nearest Philips service centre or take the appliance to your dealer.
5 Put the sieve in the juice collector. (Fig. 5)
6 Attach the pulp container to the motor unit. You
hear a click when it locks into place (Fig. 6).
7 Place the lid on the juice collector (Fig. 7).
Make sure that the hook on the lid ts into the hole of
the juice collector.
8 Snap the latch onto the lid to lock the lid and the
juice collector into place (‘click’) (Fig. 8).
9 Place a glass under the spout.
10 Put the mains plug in a wall socket.
Using the appliance
The appliance only functions if all parts are properly assembled and the lid is properly locked in place with the latch.
1 Wash the fruit and/or vegetables and cut them into
pieces that t into the feeding tube. (Fig. 9)
2 Press the on/off switch to switch on the
appliance. (Fig. 10)
3 Put the pre-cut ingredients in the feeding tube and
gently press them towards the rotating sieve with the pusher (Fig. 11).
Do not exert too much pressure on the pusher, as this
could affect the quality of the end result. It could even
cause the lter to come to a halt.
Never insert your ngers or an object into the feed
tube.
After you have processed all ingredients and the ow of juice into the glass has stopped, switch off the appliance
and wait until the sieve has stopped rotating.
Do not let the appliance run for more than 2 minutes
without interruption. If you have not nished extracting
juice, switch off the appliance and let it cool down to room temperature before you continue.
Tips
Use fresh fruit and vegetables, as they contain
-
more juice. Pineapples, beetroots, celery stalks, apples, cucumbers, carrots, spinach, melons, tomatoes, oranges and grapes are particularly
suitable for processing in the juicer. You do not have to remove thin peels or skins. Only
-
remove thick peels, e.g. those of oranges, pineapples
and uncooked beetroots. Also remove the white pith of citrus fruits because it has a bitter taste.
If you want to juice fruits with stones, remove the
stone before juicing.
When you prepare apple juice, remember that the
thickness of the apple juice depends on the kind of
apple you use. The juicier the apple, the thinner the
juice. Choose a kind of apple that produces the type of juice you prefer. Apple juice turns brown very quickly. To slow down
-
this process, add a few drops of lemon juice. Fruits that contain starch, such as bananas, papayas,
-
avocados, gs and mangoes are not suitable for processing in the juicer. Use a food processor, blender
or hand blender to process these fruits. Leaves and leaf stalks of e.g. lettuce can also be
processed in the juicer.
Drink the juice immediately after you have extracted
-
it. If it is exposed to air for some time, the juice loses
its taste and nutritional value.
Ginger juice recipe
1 Juice 60g ginger for 10 seconds. You have to exert a
higher pressing force (of up to 2kg) on the pusher.
Tip: If you want to use ginger juice more often to avour your home-made juices, you can prepare it in advance. You
can store the ginger juice in a sealed jar in the refrigerator
for up to one week.
Cleaning
The appliance is easier to clean if you do so immediately after use.
Never use scouring pads, abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive liquids such as alcohol, petrol or acetone to clean the appliance.
All parts, except the motor unit, can be cleaned in a
dishwasher.
1 Switch off the appliance and disconnect it from the
mains before you change accessories or approach parts that move during use (e.g. sieve).
2 Remove the dirty parts from the motor unit.
3 Clean all parts except the motor unit in warm
water with some washing-up liquid and rinse them under the tap.
4 Clean the motor unit with a damp cloth.
Never immerse the motor unit in water nor rinse it under the tap.
Environment
Do not throw away the appliance with the normal
-
household waste at the end of its life, but hand it in at an ofcial collection point for recycling. By doing this, you help to preserve the environment (Fig. 12).

Troubleshooting
This chapter summarises the most common problems you could encounter with the appliance. If you are unable
to solve the problem with the information below, contact
the Consumer Care Centre in your country.
Problem Solution
The appliance does not work.
The motor unit gives off an unpleasant
smell the rst
few times the appliance is used.
The appliance makes a lot of
noise, gives off
an unpleasant
smell, is too hot to touch, gives
off smoke etc.
The sieve is blocked.
The sieve touches the feeding tube or vibrates strongly during processing.
The appliance is equipped with a safety system. If the par ts have
not been assembled properly, the
appliance does not work. Check whether the parts have been
assembled in the right way, but
switch off the appliance before you do so.
This is not unusual. If the appliance continues to give off this smell after
a few times, check the quantities you
are processing and the processing time. After the appliance has been
running for 2 minutes, switch it off
and let it cool down for 2 minutes.
Switch off the appliance and unplug it. Go to the nearest Philips service centre or your dealer for assistance.
Switch off the appliance, clean the
feeding tube and the sieve and process a smaller quantity.
Switch off the appliance and unplug it. Check if the sieve is placed properly in the juice collector. The ribs in the bottom of the sieve have
to t properly onto the driving
shaft. Check if the sieve is damaged.
Cracks, crazes, a loose grating disc
or any other irregularity may cause malfunction.
