The
DX8100HDDI
SCSI to SATA-II controller storage system that offers a RAID 5
external storage solution for DX8100 Series hybrid video recorders
(HVRs). The DX8100 HVR uses one
channel to store video data on the external storage unit.
The unit supports up to twelve 2 TB hard disk drives (HDDs), for a
maximum storage capacity of 24 TB. Combining large storage
capacity with SATA-II high performance and dedicated bandwidth, the
DX8100HDDI
level of data availability is assured. High throughput is achieved by
distributing input/output (I/O) traffic across PCI-X buses. High
performance is delivered with the help of intelligent firmware
algorithms.
The unit’s RAID functionality ensures data protection through a simple,
centralized management interface. The unit is managed by firmware
and data protection software
To ensure a high level of system availability, each critical module
(HDDs, power supplies, batteries, and cooling fans) is contained in a
removable canister, which is redundant and hot swappable, and can
be replaced quickly. The modules are integrated with the main signal
path PCB through board-to-board or interface-specific connectors to
eliminate points of failure.

SCSI-320 host
The
DX8100HDDI
locally or remotely, using the front panel LCD keypad, an RS-232-C
terminal utility, or the Java
running on a remote PC. All fault events and errors are instantly
reported locally and remotely.
The
DX8100HDDI
technologies manage the stringent requirements of storage
applications. These technologies also facilitate I/O processing, drive
handling, and system management.
IOSmart offers specific functions and configuration options that
control various I/O characteristics, and include adaptable stripe size,
adaptive write policy, optimization modes, guaranteed latency I/O,
and automatically adjusted multi-threaded, predictive read-ahead,
sorted, or group writes.
DrvSmart offers fault-preventive algorithms that ensure data integrity
when conditions related to hard drive imperfections occur. DrvSmart
mechanisms correct minor defects, increase reaction time, allow more
time to prepare a rebuild, and help minimize performance impact.
SysSmart combines enclosure monitoring and firmware management
features in order to minimize the chance of down time caused by
hardware failures. With SysSmart, the
managed and protected against extreme operating conditions.
