About the battery pack

Use the specified unit to recharge the battery pack.
Do not use the battery pack with equ ipment other than the specified unit.
Do not get dirt, san d, liquids, or other foreign matter on the terminals.
Do not touch the plug terminals (i and j) with metal objects.
Do not disassemble , remodel, heat or throw into fire.
If any electrolyte should come into contact with your hands or clothes, wash it off thoroughly with water. If any electrolyte should come into contact with your eyes, never rub the
eyes. Rinse eyes thoroughly with water, and then consult a doctor .
CAUTION
Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. Dispose of used batteries according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Do not heat or expose to flame.
Do not leave the bat tery(ies) in an automobile exposed to direct sunlight for a
long period of time with doors and windows closed.

Battery charger
This battery charger operates on AC between 110 V and 240 V. But
In the U.S.A. and Canada, the batte ry charger mus t be connect ed to a 120 V
AC power supply only.
When connecting to an AC supply outside of the U.S.A. or Canada, use a
plug adapto r to suit the AC outlet configuration.
Cautions for Use
Always use a genuine Pa nasonic AV cable (DMW-AVC1; optional).
Always use a genuin e Pana sonic HDMI mi ni cable (RP- CDHM15, RP-CDHM30;
optional). Part numbers: RP-CDHM15 (1.5 m) (5 feet), RP-CDHM30 (3. 0 m) (10 feet)
Do not use any other USB c onnection cables except the supplie d one.
Keep this unit as far away as possible from electromagnetic equipment (such as microwave ovens, TVs, video games etc.).
If you use this unit on top of or near a TV, the pictures and/or sound on this unit may be disrupted by electromagnetic wave radiation.
Do not use this unit near cell phones because doing so may result in noise adversely affecting the pictures and/or sound.
Recorded dat a may be damaged, or pictures may be distorted, by strong magnetic fields created by spea kers or large motors.
Electromagnetic wave radiation generated by microprocessors may adversely affect this unit, disturbing the pictures and/or sound.
If this unit is adversely aff ected by electromagnetic equipment and stops functioning properly, turn this unit off and remove the battery or disconnect AC adaptor (DMW -AC8PP; optional). Then reinsert the battery or reconnect AC adaptor and turn this unit on.
Do not use this unit near radio transmitters or high-voltage lines.

Care of the camera
Do not subject to strong vibration, shock, or pressure.
The lens, LCD monitor, or external case may be
damaged if used in following conditions. It may also malfunc tion or image may not be recorded.
Drop or hit the camera.Press hard on the lens or the LCD monitor.
When carrying or using the playback feature,
ensure that the lens is in the stored position.
There are times when rattling sounds or
vibration s will come from the camera, but these are due to the motion of the ape rture, the zoom and the motor and do not indicate a defect.
This camera is not dust/drip/water proof. Avoid using the camera at location with a lot of dust, water , sand, etc.
Liquids, sand and other fo reign mat erial may ge t into
the space around the lens, buttons, etc . Be particular ly careful since it may not jus t cause malfunctions, but it may become unrep airable.
Places with a lot of sand or dust.Places where wat er can come into cont act with t his
unit such as when using it on a rainy day or on a beach.

When using an A C adaptor, ensure t hat th e
Panasonic DC coupler (DMW-DCC6; optional) and AC adaptor (DMW-AC8PP; optional) are used.
Always use a genuine Panasonic AC
adaptor (DMW-AC8PP; optional).
It is recommended to use a fully charged
battery or AC adaptor when recording motion pictures.
If while recording motion pictures using the AC adaptor and the power
supply is cu t off due to a powe r out ag e or if the AC a dapt or is dis conn ecte d etc., the motion picture being recorded will not be recorded.

Rear Dial
There are 2 ways to operate the rear dial, rotating left or right, and deciding by pressing.
Rotating: Selection of items or setting of values is performed during the various settings.
Pressing: Operat ions th at ar e the sam e as [MEN U /S ET] but t o n, such as de termine settings, etc., are performed during the various settings.
Rear dial is described as follows in this Owner’s Manual.

Charging the Battery
About batteries that you can use with this unit
The battery that can be used with this unit is DMW-BMB9PP.
It has been found that counterfeit battery packs which look very similar to the genuine product are made available to purchase in some markets. Some of these battery pac ks are not adequately prot ected with internal protection to meet the requirements of appropriate safety standards. There is a possibility that these battery packs may lead to fire or explosion. Please be advised that we are not liable for any accident or failure occurring as a result of use of a counterfeit battery pack. To ensure that safe products are used we would recommend that a genuine Panasonic battery pack is used.
Use the dedicated charger and battery.
Charging
The battery is not charged when the camer a is shipped . Charge the batter y
before use.
Charge the battery with the charger indoors.
Attach the battery paying attention to the direction of the battery.
Connect the charger to the electrical outle t.
The [CHARGE] indicator A lights up and
charging begins.
