About the compatibility of the recorded motion pictures
They are not compatible with devices other
than those that support AVCHD. Images cannot be played with equipment that does not support AVCHD (ordinary DVD recorders). Confirm that your equipment supports AVCHD by referring to the operating instructions.
There are some cases where the recorded
motion pictures cannot be played back, even if the device supports AVCHD. In such cases, play the recorded motion picture with this unit instead.

The recording is in high definition picture quality no matter what recording mode is used to

This unit records in VBR (Variable Bit Rate). VBR recording automatically varies the bit rate (amount
of data in a fixed time) depending on the subject being recorded. This means if a recording with a lot movements is recorded, the recording time is reduced.

Digital cinema colour:
To play back images recorded in the digital

What is HDMI?
HDMI is the next-generation interface for digital devices. When this unit is connected to a HDMI compatible device, the image and audio can be output with a digital signal. If you connect this unit to a HDMI compatible high definition TV and then play back the recorded high definition images, you can enjoy them in high resolution with high quality sound. If you connect this unit to a Panasonic TV compatible with VIERA Link, linked operations (VIERA Link) are possible. (l 79)

1080i
This is an interlace scan method which scans 1080 scan lines to display a high definition image. The 1080 available scan lines are divided in half and scanned on the screen alternatively every 1/50 a second. The number of available scan lines is nearly double the 576 scan lines used to display standard images until now so the images have clearer detail and a lot of presence.

The component terminal and the HDMI mini connector on this unit are also compatible with high definition image output 1080i. It is necessary to have a compatible TV to enjoy progressive and high definition images.
