The LUMIX L10 takes the digital SLR camera to an exciting new level.
Combining a free-angle LCD with a full-time Live View function,
the L10 offers a dramatic change in the shooting style of digital SLR cameras,
with an advanced Leica D lens created exclusively for the digital SLR camera.
The L10. Free yourself from the limitations of previous digital SLR cameras –
and get started on a journey to an entirely new world of photographic expression.
Change the Way You See the World
Full-Time Live View Lets You Shoot While Looking at the LCD
On most digital SLR cameras, the LCD monitor is used for viewing images after you've shot them, not as a viewfi nder. The L10 changes all
that. Its enhanced Live View function lets you frame and focus your shots right on the large LCD screen, and it lets you see – before you shoot –
how adjusting the white balance or exposure compensation will affect the shot. Full-time Live View makes it easy to shoot and easy to capture
images just the way you want them. It's one of the innovative functions that distinguish the L10 from every other digital SLR camera.
White balance adjustment:
and magenta/green) of coordinates precisely. Color temperature can also be adjusted in 100K steps.
Exposure compensation: Adjustable from -2 to +2 EV, in 1/3-EV steps. With Live View,
the LCD shows you how changing the exposure compensation will affect the image.
Movable manual focus assist: A part of the image can be enlarged up to 8 times and
displayed on the LCD, giving you an easier, more precise way to check the focus. Using the
cursor button, you can select a different part of the image to enlarge.
Free-Angle 2.5" LCD Gives You More Shooting Freedom
The 207,000-pixel, 2.5" LCD monitor can rotate 180˚ horizontally and tilt 270˚ vertically. This fl exibility combines with
full-time Live View to make it much easier to capture the kinds of shots – such as high-angle and low-angle shots –
that are diffi cult or impossible with ordinary viewfi nders. Explore a new kind of shooting freedom and creativity. Hold
the camera near the ground to capture a perfect eye level shot of a cat or dog. In a crowd of people, hold the camera
high overhead and still get a perfectly framed image. Challenge yourself. With the L10, you've got a whole new range of
creative possibilities to enjoy.

Face Detection AF/AE for Beautiful Portraits
Whether you're taking a portrait or a snapshot, you
want every face to come out beautifully. The L10 makes
it easy, thanks to the world’s first Face Detection AF/AE
function on a digital SLR camera. The L10 automatically
detects when there are faces in the frame, and optimizes
the focus and exposure to capture them stunningly. Once the
camera spots a face, it will follow it even if the person moves.
The L10 can detect up to 15 faces in a frame.
*This function is enabled only when the LEICA D VARIO-ELMAR 14-50 mm / F3.8-5.6 ASPH. / MEGA O.I.S.

30, 2007.
Intelligent ISO Control Helps Prevent Motion Blur
The L10 is the world's first digital SLR to feature
Intelligent ISO Control. This innovative function senses if the
subject moves and automatically adjusts the ISO setting and
shutter speed accordingly, helping to prevent motion blur.
If the subject remains still, the camera shoots at a low ISO
setting to give you beautiful, natural-looking images.

Film Mode – To Capture Photos
with a Special Mood or Expressiveness
Professional film photographers select different films for their
distinctive coloring and contrast, to achieve a desired effect. The
L10 gives you this same kind of capability, letting you choose from
six color and three monochrome Film modes. Once you select
a mode – and before you take the shot – you can see in the LCD
what the photo will look like. That's another Live View advantage.
VibrantNostalgic
Multi-Exposures – For Easy Creative Compositions
The L10 lets you take up to three exposures in a single frame.

Flexible AF/AE Functions to Fit the Way You Shoot
The L10 features a dual auto focus system, with TTL phase difference
AF and contrast AF. With Live View, you can use not only the TTL phase
difference AF but also any of six contrast AF modes, with 256-zone
multi light metering. When you're shooting this way, the LCD shows
you how the whole image will look before you take the shot.
Live View displays that image
on the LCD monitor, so you
can compose the second shot.
Also, the gain is automatically
compensated according to the
number of exposures.
Movable Guidelines for Precise Composition
Guidelines can be displayed on the LCD when you're shooting
with Live View, making it easy to check
that you're holding the camera level or,
for artistic compositions, at the desired
angle. The lines can be moved anywhere
you wish with the cursor button.

A High-Performance Digital SLR Changes Your View
10.1-Megapixel 4/3-Type Live MOS Sensor
The Rich Tonal Quality of a CCD
Sensor Plus the Low Power
Consumption of a CMOS Sensor
At the heart of the L10 is a
sophisticated 10.1-megapixel
4/3-type Live MOS sensor. Drawing
on MOS signal amplification
technology but using a simpler structure, this advanced sensor
combines the superb image quality of a CCD sensor with the
low power consumption of a CMOS sensor. It's molded as a
single unit onto a flexible circuit board, so both the number
of signal exchanges and the contact resistance from wiring
are reduced. Also, an advanced process technology with lowvoltage drive reduces heat and noise while improving the
image quality provided by the Live View function.
10.1-Megapixel Resolution
with Low Noise and High Sensitivity
Thanks to state-of-the art circuit downsizing technology, the
light-receiving area of the L10's 10.1-megapixel Live MOS
sensor is about the same size as that in a 7.5-megapixel
sensor. This helps prevent the noise that would result
from reducing the
pixel size. Also, the
distance from the
microlens to the
photodiode has been
shortened, so lightcollecting efficiency
is improved. This
gives the L10 a level
of sensitivity that
equals or surpasses
High-Resolution Images with
Well-Reproduced Color
and Low Noise
The Venus Engine III image
processor was developed to
maximize the performance of the
Leica D lens and Live MOS sensor.
In addition to helping achieve outstanding resolution, superb
color and detailed gradation, this advanced LSI distinguishes
chromatic noise from luminance noise and reduces the
chromatic noise – one of the main causes of image quality
degradation. This helps the L10 deliver the exceptional image
rendering performance one expects from a quality SLR camera.
Quick Response and Low Power Consumption
The super-fast Venus Engine III helps give the L10 a quick
startup, short shutter interval, and solid consecutive shooting
performance. This combines with the Live MOS sensor's
low energy consumption to give the L10 a longer battery life.
Even with its many advanced functions, the L10 lets you take
around 450 shots (CIPA standard) on a single battery charge.
Four Thirds™ Standard: Designed
for the Digital Camera
For a digital SLR camera to capture an image accurately, the
light must strike the image sensor at a perpendicular angle. But
with fi lm camera lenses, light from the image edges enters at
a non-perpendicular angle. The result can be inaccurate colorreproduction or dark areas. The L10 uses a lens mount that has
about twice the diameter of the image circle. This allows light to
strike the sensor at a virtually perpendicular angle, so images
are clear and accurate all the way to the edges.

Dust Reduction System Protects the Image Sensor
One risk with conventional digital
SLR cameras is that as you change
the lens, dust can enter the camera
and stick to the image sensor. This
would show up as a fl aw in the same
location on every photo you shoot.
Even worse, the foreign matter
could damage the image sensor.
The L10 solves this problem with
a dust reduction system. A special
Supersonic Wave Filter is positioned
in front of the image sensor. Every
time you turn the camera on, the
filter vibrates perpendicularly
around 30,000 times a second,
creating a wave-like motion across
the entire filter to shake loose any
dust particles clinging to the filter. This system even shakes
loose and captures particles that would not be loosened by the
horizontal movement of the image sensors in some cameras.
Functions that Change an Ordinary Shot into a Masterpiece
Exposure Modes and Scene Modes
that Fit a Range of Situations
The L10 starts with the common P/A/S/M
exposure modes and adds a variety of other
modes to give you easy shooting and beautiful results in
a wide range of situations. These include an Auto mode in
which the camera makes all of the settings, a Custom mode
that lets you register up to three sets of settings you use
often, and Portrait, Scenery, Macro, Sports, Night Portrait,
and SCN (Sunset/Food/Baby/Pet) modes.

Advanced Scene Modes Give You Even More Control
In Portrait, Scenery, Macro, Sports, and Night Portrait
modes, you can choose from three or four more specific
modes to better match the shooting conditions. This makes it
easier to capture the exact image you have in mind.
A non-slip rubber material on the grip makes the L10 easy
to hold and handle, and the grip's gentle curvature helps
prevent hand fatigue even after extended use. Two control
dials are carefully laid out around the grip's upper part to
provide even smoother operation. You can quickly set the
shutter speed, aperture, and exposure compensation while
holding the camera in shooting position.
Auto Power LCD Adjusts the Brightness
as the Light Level Changes
The brightness of the L10's
LCD automatically adjusts
as the ambient light level
changes. Even outdoors in
bright sunlight, you'll fi nd that
the subject in the Live View
LCD is clear and easy to see.
1.2x Magnifi er Eyecup for Comfortable Viewing
The L10 comes with a magnifi er eyecup that you can attach to the
eyepiece, enlarging the image in the viewfi nder
by 1.2 times. This makes it easier to frame the
subject and adjust the focus, giving you more
convenience in certain shooting situations.
Built-in Flash, and Hot Shoe for External Flash
The L10 is equipped with a built-in multi-functional fl ash that
you can adjust from -2 to +2 EV in 1/3-EV steps. The L10 also
has a hot shoe for mounting a TTL metering external fl ash
(the optional DMW-FL500 or DMW-FL360).
Auto Bracketing Helps You Get the Perfect Exposure
With the Auto Bracket function, the L10 takes three
consecutive shots at slightly different exposure settings
(adjustable in the range of -2 to +2 EV).
ISO Limit Set Gives You Exactly the Sensitivity You Want
In addition to the seven ISO sensitivity settings (AUTO/100/
200/400/800/1600/Intelligent ISO), you can use ISO Limit Set
to preset exactly the upper ISO limit that you want. This lets
you shoot within the sensitivity range that you have set, to
refl ect your intentions in particular shooting situations.
