BUILT IN SETUP and EXTENDED SETUP Utilities
BUILT IN SETUP
This ROM BIOS-r eside nt progr am allows you t o cha nge so me of the Pers onal Com pu te r’s
configuration parameters.
Two cases can arise:
First case: If the data stor ed in the CM OS RAM is no longer valid or the power supply bat t er y is low,
the BULIT IN SETUP screen is displaye d. You are now give t he ch oice of select ing the lang uage to
work in from a total of six languages available.
Second case: If the configur at ion of the syst em ha s been chang ed, only the icon r epr es ent ing the
device that has to be added to, or modified in, CMOS RAM wi ll be displayed. For exa mple, if you install a second floppy disk drive, just the floppy disk icon will be displayed.
In both cases the BUILT IN SETUP scre en is aut omat ically display ed with out operat or inter vent ion.
F1 Allows you to change the system ho ur , minut es and seconds .
F2 Allows you to change the system da y, mont h and ye ar.
F3 Allows you the type of hard disk installed an d its capacit y. Press the space bar until the
correct value is displayed. The fo llow in g table lists the ha rd disks that can be installed in
the system.

F4 Allows you select the capacity of the floppy disk drive. Depend ing on the num ber of drives
present (1 , 2 or 3), up to three fields ca n be displayed nex t to this ic on. Defin e in these f ield s
the capacity of th e floppy disk dr ive inst alled.
The logic names of the drives are displayed on the ro w under ne ath: A (for one drive only) ,
A-B (for two dr ives) , A-B- X (for thr ee dr ives) .
NOTE: If a streaming tape drive with floppy disk interfac e is installed, the data field
corresponding to this drive must not con ta in any value, and th is drive must alwa ys be
indicated as logic drive B.
F5 Allows you to select the video format when powe ring on the system .

is intended for info rmational purposes only.

EXTENDED SETUP
Besides using the BUILT IN SETUP utility , you can also use the EXTENDED SETUP uti lity to
configure the sy stem par am eter s. You can re call this ut il ity at any time by pr es sing the C T RL, AL T
and DEL keys simultaneo usly.
This menu contains all the ic ons of the BUI LT I N SET UP utility , theref or e it allows you to conf igur e
the system as pre viously ex plained.
However, the EXTENDED SETUP utility has the following additional parameter s:
F6 EMS Allows you to modify the ca pacit y of extend ed and expan ded mem o ry ..
TEST Allows you to reduce the number of tests pe rfor m ed on system m emory
during the Power On Diagnostics.
SHAD Allows you to assign shadow mem or y to the BI O S and spe cify mem or y areas.
F7 RAM Allows you to change system speed fro m the def ault value (33 M Hz) to
14 MHz.
I/O Allows you to the sy stem bus sp eed fr om the def ault value (11 MHz) to the
standard AT spe ed ( 8 MHz) .
F8 CHR/S Allows you to change change th e charac te r repe at speed when ass ociat ed
keys are pressed. This value is expresse d in number of char ac te rs per
second.
BEEP Allows you to increase or decr e a se the spe aker volume.
PARAL Allows you to modify the direction of the parallel port .
F9 Allows you to assign a syste m PASSWO RD.
