Please carefully and completely read the Wii™ Operations Manual - System Setup before using this accessory. The manual contains important health and safety information. Be sure to read the sections on:
• Health and Safety
• The Wii Console Usage Precautions in the System Setup section
The Wii Speak accessory is designed to be used only with a Wii system (sold separately).
Additionally, you must use this accessory with Wii game software or Wii Channels that support this feature. Look for this icon on game packaging for games that are designed to be used with the Wii Speak accessory. Also look for this icon displayed on the screen when using the Wii Shop Channel.
Wii Speak and the Internet:
A Broadband Internet connection is required to use the Wii Speak accessory. For more information on connecting your Wii console to the Internet, please see the Wii Settings
and Data Management section in the Wii Operations Manual - Channels and Settings.

Usage guidelines
Connecting the Wii Speak accessory
Before using the Wii Speak accessory, please read and follow the guidelines below for proper installation and operation.
• This accessory connects to a USB connector on the back of the Wii console. Do not connect this accessory to any other device.
Be sure the power of the Wii console is turned OFF when connecting or disconnecting this
accessory.
• To avoid audio feedback or other audio interference, do not place the microphone near audio speakers or sources of air flow such as fans or air conditioners.
• Do not handle the microphone during use.
• Speak at a normal volume during use.
• Stay between 3’–9’ (1–3 meters) from the microphone during use.
• Be sure and review the manual for the game you are playing or the Wii Channel you are using for specific information on how to use Wii Speak with that game.
Components
USB plug
Connects to a USB connector on the back of the Wii console.
1. Turn the power off on the Wii console before installing or removing the Wii Speak accessory (the Power LED will appear either red or orange when the power is turned off).

2. Insert the USB plug from the Wii Speak accessory straight into one of the USB connectors on the back of the Wii console.
IMPORTANT: Inspect the USB connector for dust or other foreign material before plugging this accessory into it. Clean it with a soft, dry cloth if necessary.
3. To disconnect this accessory, turn the power off on the Wii console and pull the USB plug straight out of the USB connector. Be sure to hold onto the plug and do not pull on the cable.
NOTE: If you are using more than two USB devices at the same time, you must use a USB hub that has its own power supply that plugs into a standard AC wall outlet. Do not use a USB hub that is powered by one of the devices connected to it. Some USB devices must be plugged directly into a USB connector on the back of the Wii console. For details, refer to the instruction booklet for your USB device.
IMPORTANT: To avoid possible damage to your Wii console, use only a USB hub recommended
by Nintendo.

If the microphone is installed on top of the Sensor Bar, line this up with the groove in the top of the Sensor Bar.

Placing the Microphone
The microphone works best when placed on top of the television. The installation will vary depending on whether your Sensor Bar is located on top of or underneath your television, as described below.

1. Remove the liners from the anti-slip pads on the bottom of the microphone. Be careful not to remove the anti-slip pads.
2. Line up the rib on the the bottom of the microphone with groove in the top of the Sensor Bar and place the microphone on as shown at right.
• The Sensor Bar and Wii microphone should be centered on the top of and aligned with the front of the television.
• Make sure the microphone is visible from the front of the television and that nothing is blocking the microphone.

1. Add the additional anti-slip pads included with the Wii Speak accessory to the bottom of the microphone as shown at right.
2. Remove the liners from the anti-slip pads on the bottom of the microphone. Be careful not to remove the anti-slip pads.
3. Place the microphone on the top of the television as shown at right.
• The microphone should be centered on the top of and aligned with the front of the television.
• Make sure the microphone is visible from the front of the television and that nothing is blocking the microphone.
• Keep the microphone as far away from audio speakers as possible.

Included with the Wii Speak accessory are double sided adhesive pads (attached to the yellow carrier sheet) that can be attached to the bottom of the microphone. See step 1 one on the previous page and use the adhesive pads instead of the anti-slip pads.

• For best operation, the microphone should be placed so it sticks out slightly from the front of the television, and it should be aligned with the front surface of the television.

Troubleshooting
If this accessory fails to operate, or operates incorrectly, follow the steps below before seeking assistance.
1. Either your voice or the other party’s voice cannot be heard.
• Make sure the USB connector is plugged in correctly on the back of the Wii console.
• Make sure you are using a game or Wii Channel that is compatible with this accessory.
• Review the manual and make sure the microphone is placed correctly.
• Make sure you are within 3 - 9 feet (1 - 3 meters) of the microphone.
• Check your Internet connections and make sure they are working correctly (check the Wii Operations Manual - Channels and Settings for information on Internet settings).
• Make sure the LED is lit blue when you are trying to speak - this indicates when communication is possible.
• Make sure the volume of the TV is not muted or set too low.

oices do not sound clear, have a buzzing sound, break up, or there is a lag in conversation.
• These conditions may be caused by a poor Internet connection or slow transmission speed and are not due to defects in the Wii Speak accessory.
3. Your voice can be heard through your television speakers.
• The other party may have the volume set too high. Try having them lower the volume of their TV.
• The other party should check their setup of the Wii Speak and make sure it is installed correctly.
• Make sure you are speaking in a normal voice.
4. The other party’s voices are too quiet.
• Make sure they are speaking in a normal voice.
• Make sure there is no air flow, such as from a fan or air conditioner, near the microphone.
5. The sound coming from the speakers seems to have an echo.
• If you have surround sound or a home theater system, set your equipment to use stereo sound when using this accessory.
• If the person you are talking to is using a TV that has an automatic digital audio adjust feature, changing the audio setting on that TV may improve the sound.
NOTE: If the top of your television is too rounded or narrow to place the microphone, place it underneath the television and as far away from any audio speakers as possible.

Warranty and Service Information
You may need only simple instructions to correct a problem with your product. Try our website at support.nintendo.com or call our Consumer Assistance Hotline at 1-800-255-3700, rather than going to your retailer. Hours of operation are 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Pacific Time, Monday
- Sunday (times subject to change). If the problem cannot be solved with the troubleshooting information available online or over the telephone, you will be offered express factory service through Nintendo. Please do not send any products to Nintendo without contacting us first.
HARDWARE WARRANTY
Nintendo of America Inc. ("Nintendo") warrants to the original purchaser that the hardware product shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for twelve (12) months from the date of purchase. If a defect covered by this warranty occurs during this warranty period, Nintendo will repair or replace the defective hardware product or component, free of charge.* The original purchaser is entitled to this warranty only if the date of purchase is registered at point of sale or the consumer can demonstrate, to Nintendo's satisfaction, that the product was purchased within the last 12 months.
GAME & ACCESSORY WARRANTY
Nintendo warrants to the original purchaser that the product (games and accessories) shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of three (3) months from the date of purchase. If a defect covered by this warranty occurs during this three (3) month warranty period, Nintendo will repair or replace the defective product, free of charge.*

6. There is acoustic feedback from the television speakers.
• Make sure the microphone is not too close to any speakers. If you have external speakers, try moving them away from the microphone.
