Thisfeatureallowsaconsoleoperator(ordispatcher)toestablishaspecialcallwithaspecicradio.Itenables tolistentotheconversationsandbackgroundnoiseswithintherangeoftheradiomicrophone.Thecallissetup withoutanyindicationtotheaffectedradio,andanylowerpriorityongoingvoicecallorpacketdatatransfer maybepreempted.

4GPSLocationService

TheGPSLocationServicefeatureusesinformationfromGlobalPositioningSystem(GPS)satellitesorbitingthe Earthtodeterminetheapproximategeographicallocationofyourradio.
TheGPSLocationServiceavailability,accuracy,andthepositioncalculationtimevarydependingonthe environmentinwhichyouusetheradio.TheGPSLocationServicecanassistyourdispatcherorcolleaguesinmany wayssuchasmoreefcientdeploymentofresourcesorlocatingyourradiowhenyoutriggeryouremergencyservice.
TheradiocandisplaythelocationinformationdirectlyonthescreenorsenditovertheairtoyourDispatcherto displayitinthecontrolcenter.Checkyourradiocongurationdetailswithyourserviceprovider.
Wherethesignalsfromsatellitesarenotavailable,theGPSLocationServicedoesnotwork.Thissituation usuallyhappenswhenyourradiocannotestablishaviewofawideareaofopensky,forexample,when yourGPSantennaiscoveredorfacingtheground.Suchsituationsincludebeing:
•Inundergroundlocations
•Insidebuildings,trains,orothercoveredvehicles
•Underanyothermetalorconcreterooforstructure
•Nearapowerfulradioortelevisiontower

Thepositionmayconsistoflongitudeandlatitude,UK,orIrishgridcoordinates.TheGPSLocationServicefeature canbeenabledordisabledasawholeusingtheCPS.Itispossibletocongurethefeatureparametersusingthe CPS,orovertheair.TheCPScongurationprovidesadefaultprole.Thecommandsreceivedovertheairmay overwritethedefaultproleconguration.Theproleassignedtotheradiodetermineswhentosendlocationdata, whatdatatosendwithwhataccuracyandtowhataddress.Alldatarequestsandcongurationcommandsreceived overtheairarecheckedtoconrmtheyhavecomefromatrustedsource.Locationreportsareacceptedonlyfrom authorizedISSIsorIPs,dependingontheconguredtransportlayer(SDS,PacketData).
Ensuretheapplicationreceivinglocationmessagesandtheradioareconguredinacorrespondingway. OtherwisetheradiowillrejectallsystemGPSrequests.

TheGPSfeatureworksbestwherethereisnothingbetweenyourradioandalargeamountofopensky.Tomaximize theabilityofyourradiotodeterminealocationx,avoidclosedspace,tallbuildings,andfoliage.Ifpossible,donot useGPSinundergroundparkinglots,tunnels,underbridges,andclosetohighbuildings.
