Problem
An issue was found in the C115/C116/C155/C156/C157 product, the customer complained: the real time clock isn’t accurate or the real time clock slow, it was the U6 (32khz crystal) damaged, the chip ’s internal was cracked.
Solution
This issue was U6 material issue, the chip’s internal cracked, the vendor is Epson, HZ factory change the U6 chip’s vendor, the new vendor was Seiko, this action implement on Mar 2005.

of “Real time clock isn’t accurate” or “Real time clock is slow”, the service engineer need judge as this rule: use main batteryà reset the accurate clock à after 5~10min, check the time àthe time is slow, use oscilloscope test TP46 (this test point can get 32Khz), the frequency is not
32Khz, need replaced U6 chip.

Call Centre Action :
When a customer contacts the Motorola Call Center with Customer Complaint of “Real time clock is not accurate” or “Real time clock is slow” with C115/C116/C155/C156/C157 handset, then should be communicated to the customer carry the handset in Motorola certified service center for the identified and repaired.
