Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a technology that allows both power and network data to transmit across standard network
cabling (Cat 5e, or Cat 6). PoE advantages include:

Reduces installation cost by allowing a network camera to use the same cabling that is used for all other devices on a
network (one contractor installs all cabling)

Eliminates the need for power outlets at the camera location

Combines easily with industry-standard uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) to guarantee 24 / 7 / 365 operation
