To avoid the risk of accidents or damage to the machine it is
essential to read these instructions before installing,
commissioning and using it for the first time.
Read the operating and programming in
structions before using the coin control
unit for the first time.
They contain important information about
the safety, use and maintenance of the
machine. This way you will avoid the risk
of accidents and damage to the machine.
Keep these operating and programming
instructions in a safe place and ensure
that new users are familiar with the con
tent. Pass them on to any future owner of
the machine.
Before connecting the machine to the
mains supply make sure that the con
nection data on the data plate (fusing, volt
age and frequency) matches the mains elec
tricity supply.
The electrical safety of this appliance
can only be guaranteed when continuity
is complete between the appliance and an
effective earthing system which complies
with local and national safety regulations. In
case of doubt consult a suitably qualified
person. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for the consequences of an inadequate
earthing system (e.g. electric shock).
-
-
-
-
-
The machine is only completely isolated
from the electricity supply either when it
is switched off at the isolator switch or the
mains fuse has been withdrawn.
Do not install the machine in rooms
where temperatures below freezing may
occur. Temperatures below freezeing may
impair the functioning of the machine.
Do not use a high pressure cleaner or
hose to clean the machine.
Faulty components must only be ex
changed for Miele original spare parts.
Only when these parts are fitted can the
safety standards of the machine be guaran
teed.
Using accessories
Accessory parts may only be fitted when
expressly approved by Miele. If other
parts are used, guarantee, performance and
product liability claims may be invalidated.
Empty the coin box daily.
If coins are not emptied regularly they
will build-up and prevent the control unit
from functioning properly.
-
-
Do not use this machine if there is any
sign of external damage, e.g. to the ca-
ble insulation, until it has been repaired.
If the connection cable is damaged in
any way it must be replaced by a suit
ably qualified technician to ensure safety. Do
not use the machine if there is any sign of
damage, until it has been repaired.
Under no circumstances should the
housing of the machine be opened.
Tampering with electrical connections or
components and mechanical parts is highly
dangerous to the user and can cause me
chanical faults.
Repairs to electrical appliances should
only be carried out by a suitably quali
fied and competent person in accordance
with local and national safety regulations.
Unauthorised repairs could result in unfore
seen dangers for the user, for which the
manufacturer cannot accept liability.

Disposal of the packing material
The transport and protective packing has
been selected from materials which are envi
ronmentally friendly for disposal and can
normally be recycled. Packaging e.g. cling
film, polystyrene and plastic wrappings must
be kept out of the reach of babies and
young children. Danger of suffocation.
Rather than just throwing these materials
away, please ensure that they are recycled.
Disposal of your old machine
Electrical and electronic machines often
contain materials which, if handled or dis
posed of incorrectly, could be potentially
hazardous to human health and to the envi
ronment. They are, however, essential for the
correct functioning of your machine. Please
do not therefore dispose of it with your
household waste.
-
-
Caring for the environment
-
Please dispose of it at your local community
waste collection/recycling centre, and en
sure that it presents no danger to children
while being stored for disposal.
It should be unplugged or disconnected
from the mains electricity supply by a com
petent person. The plug must be rendered
useless, and the cable cut off directly be
hind it to prevent misuse.

Description of the machine
General information about the C 4070 Coin control unit
The C 4070 is fitted with an electronic coin tester which can be programmed to recognise
up to 12 different coins.
The tester is divided into two blocks. Block 1 (Channels 1-6) is for coins and
Block 2 (Channels 7-12) is for tokens (see page 20 for details on how to change over).
The C 4070 can be used as a timer or programme control unit for Miele laundry machines.
For programme operation (standard setting):
As a control unit for machines which are fitted with a programme timer or an electronic control
unit where a complete programme sequence is required (e.g. a wash programme).
For timed operation*:
As a control unit allowing laundry machines to be used for specific lengths of time only
(e.g. a period of ironing).
* Reprogramming necessary on the coin control unit.

Displays in programme operation
Display before and after programme
access has been granted
In programme operation the amount of
money to be inserted appears in the display
after the machine (e.g. washer extractor) has
been switched on and before free access
has been granted to the programme.
The display will show an amount such as
2.50 EUR. The number of decimal places
depends on how they were programmed (in
this example 1 . 2 decimal places).
The point will disappear after a maximum of

18M.-Nr. 05 706 260
Programming the main time
The main time can only be altered in steps to
match the coin time of the lowest value
coins. The limits for this time lie between
once and 1440 times.
Programming coin time for the
lowest value coin
Coin time for the coin can be programmed
between 1 and 120 minutes.
This coin time also appears in the display
whenever programming option "time access
direct with coin insertion" is selected (see
page 9, Input position P 10).
Programming in timed operation
The amount of money required for the main
time is calculated as follows:
Programmed main time in minutes divided
by the relevant programmed coin time for
the lowest value coin in minutes.
For example:
The standard programmed main time is 80
minutes.
The coin time for 2 minutes is 0.10 EUR.
The amount required for
the Main time= 80 minutes X 0.10 EUR
2 minutes
= 40 X 0.10 EUR
= 4 EUR

Special functions
Programming the brightness of the
display
The brightness of the display can be ad
justed if required. A setting can be chosen
between 1 and 7.
Changing the setting changes the bright
ness immediately. This way you can check
the brightness level before saving it in mem
ory.
-
-
Programming coin recognition
It is possible to grant free access or bar any
coin. This is useful, for example, to prevent
the use of counterfeit money. Any incorrect
coins fed in will be rejected.
This function can also be used to avoid over
payment by barring a coin higher in value
than the payment amount, e.g. if the cost is
1.00 EUR the 2.00 EUR coin can be barred.
(Input position P 11, Option 0)
If for example coin 5 (0.10 EUR coin) is
barred, you must make sure that you don't
-
set the price to 2.30 EUR. It will need to be
set to 2.20 or 2.40 EUR!
The following appears in the display depending on the programming:
Display for coin 1, if access is free
(1 = Block, 1 = Coin, 1 = free).
Display for coin 1, if access is barred
(0 = barred).
The displays for coins 2 to 6 are similar.
