Warning and Safety instructions
The external motor is only
completely isolated from the
electricity supply when:
the cooker hood is switched off at the
–
wall socket (pull on the plug, not the
cable), or
the cable to the cooker hood is
–
disconnected, or
the fuse from the fused spur
–
connection unit is withdrawn, or
the screw-out fuse is removed (in
–
countries where this is applicable).
Installation
If the control cable needs to be
extended by more than the length
of the extension cable supplied,
equipotential bonding must be carried
out.
There is a connection point on the
external motor, marked with the earth
symbol -, to which the earth lead must
be attached.
N.B. AWG 102:
The external motor must be
installed vertically on the outside wall.
The extraction outlet must face
downwards.
N.B. ABLG 200:
If exhaust air is to be extracted into
a chimney or ventilation duct no longer
used for other purposes, seek
professional advice.
N.B. DDG 102, DDF 125/150:
The motor and the roof vent kit are
designed to be installed on tiled,
pantiled, slate or shingle roofs; the
slope of the roof must be at least 10°.
They are not suitable for flat roofs.
When choosing a suitable
installation location, make sure that
it is easily accessible and that
installation work can be carried out
without danger.
This is also important if the appliance
needs to be serviced.
All ducting, pipework and fittings
must be of non-flammable material.
These can be obtained from the Miele
Spare Parts department or from
builders' merchants.
The appliance must not be
connected to a chimney or vent
flue which is in use. Neither should it be
connected to ducting which ventilates
rooms with fireplaces.
5
Warning and Safety instructions
When using the cooker hood at the
same time as another heating
appliance which depends on the air in
the room, (e.g. gas, oil or coal fired
heaters, continuous flow or other water
heaters, gas cooker, gas hob or gas
oven) special care must be taken, as
the action of the cooker hood extracts
air from the room in which it is installed
and from neighbouring rooms, which
these types of heater need for
combustion.
In order to ensure safe operation, and
to prevent gases given off by the
heating appliances from being drawn
back into the room when the extractor
and the heater are in operation
simultaneously, an underpressure in the
room of 0.04 mbar (4 pa) is the
maximum permissible.
Ventilation can be maintained by air
inlets which cannot be blocked, in
windows, doors and outside wall vents,
or by other technical measures, such
as ensuring that the extractor can only
be switched on when the heating
appliance is switched off or vice-versa.
Disposal of your old appliance
Before discarding an old
appliance, switch off and
disconnect the control cable from the
cooker hood. Cut off the cable directly
behind the appliance to prevent
misuse. Cut off and render any plug
useless.
This should be done by a competent
person.
The manufacturer cannot be held
liable for damage caused by
non-compliance with these Warning
and safety instructions.
Note: The overall ventilation condition of
the dwelling must be taken into
account.
If in any doubt, the advice of a
competent builder or, for gas, a “Corgi”
installer must be sought.

The external motor is connected to the
cooker hood using a special control
cable and is operated by the control
panel on the cooker hood.
Connection of this appliance and of the
cooker hood to which it is connected
must be carried out in accordance with
DIN VDE 0100, and with local and
national safety regulations.
For extra safety it is advisable to install a
residual current device (RCD) with a trip
current of 30 mA (in accordance with
DIN VDE 0664, VDE 0100 Section 739).
The voltage, rated load and fusing are
given on the data plate on the
appliance housing.
Check that these match the household
mains supply.
Electrical connection
The external motor is supplied with a
3 m long extension cable. If the
control cable needs to be extended
further, or if it is to be connected to a
fixed connection point, the
installation must be carried out in
accordance with VDE 0100 / 0700
Part 1, and with local and national
safety regulations.
Equipotential bonding must be
carried out.
There is a screw connection point on
the external motor marked with the
earth symbol -, to which the earth
lead must be attached.
This external motor has been designed
to be connected to a Miele cooker hood
only and must not be connected to a
cooker hood made by another
manufacturer.
Please also read the installation
instructions and electrical connection
pages of the instruction booklet
supplied with the cooker hood to which
the external motor is being connected.
