SACD, DVD-Audio, and DVD-Video with Dolby Digital and
DTS surround sound in either 2 channel or multi channel
formats. The high grade 54MHz/10-bit video DAC with PAL
progressive ensure real life video enjoyment in your home.
Extended with the Marantz D-Bus system it easily fits and
communicated with your other Marantz equipments creating a

The DV6500 provides ultimate versatility with high quality
video and audio performance from virtually any 12cm disc.

being preserved. The DV6500 plays among others SACD, DVDAudio, DVD-Video, Video CD and of course CD DA discs. SACD
is based upon the DSD conversion principle that links excellent
specifications like a frequency range of 100 kHz and a dynamic
range of 120 dB, to superb sound quality. It adds essential
resolution and detail to the Multi channel audio setup,
necessary for accurate correlation between front and rear
channels. This combination of top-end audio performance and
Multi-channel sound will give you a sensation that will totally
change the way you experience music. DVD-Audio is one of the
latest format of high standard audio. It provides ultimate 2ch
performance of 24bit/192kHz or 24bit/96kHz in six channel
format. The DV6500 will allow its owner to benefit from the full
performance of DVD-Audio.
Progressing your video output
The DV6500 uses a top quality 54MHz/10-bit video digital/
analog converters for very high-quality picture reproduction.
The DV6500 in addition provides progressive scanning for PAL
material. Compared to a conventional interlaced picture,
progressive scanning creates a picture signal with double the
scan lines, resulting in a noticeably sharper image. The
progressive image offers higher picture resolution and
eliminates virtually all motion artifacts. Even on large screens,
the progressive scan lines are barely noticeable and picture
flickering is greatly reduced, so you can enjoy extended
viewing without eye fatigue. The progressive conversion of the
DV6500 is optimized for the high resolution and low noise of
the DVD-Video format for PAL software. This enables the unit
to preserve DVD-Video picture quality for display on all screen
sizes from direct-view CRT to projectors. Progressive Scan is
provided on the component output.

offered by Dolby Digital! The Dolby Digital or AC-3 audio
information, is mixed by the Film studio and is added to the
video information as compressed digital information. Cinemas
all over the world are supporting the system and the Dolby
Digital audio information is added to the DVD-format as
standard. The format offers 5 fully independent high quality
channels and the sixth channel subwoofer information is
provided. Apart from the Dolby Digital information, DVD
software can also contain Digital Theater System (DTS) audio
information. The compressed digital information offers five
fully independent high quality channels together with a sixth
subwoofer channel. DTS offers superb life experience and
adds breathtaking effects to the film.

DV6500 features Audio EX.(clusive) Mode improving sound
quality and ensuring that the high resolution formats, like SACD and DVD-Audio, can be enjoyed to their full potential. SACD and DVD Audio Discs are converted via a top quality DSD
digital to analogue converter build into the DVD player and
outputted via the analog audio outputs. To ensure that the best
audio quality is delivered to the amplifier or receiver Marantz
has developed the Audio EX. Mode. When activated all
circuitries not needed to deliver the audio content are
surprised to prevent any signal disturbance. This includes the
high frequency noise generating front panel FL and video
signal circuitry. Experience the purity and clarity of the analog

Supported compression formats
Compressed audio is still becoming more popular every day.
Logically if you consider that 10 hours of music easily will fit
on a single CD when the music is compressed using MP3 or
WMA technology. The Marantz DV6500 is able to playback
such encoded discs, giving you many hours of musical pleasure
and fine sound quality. DV6500 is equipped with MP3 and
WMA digital audio compression and JPEG digital video
compression decoders. Since this player supports DVD-R/RW
and CD-R/RW formats, it will play DVD-R/RW discs recorded
in DVD recorders and other writers, and CD-R/RW discs
containing files in MP3, WMA or JPEG format recorded on a
PC.
