The Marantz DV6200 delivers high grade video quality, thanks
to its advanced digital video processing circuitry. State-of-the-art
display capabilities are further enhanced by high-performance
digital video technologies such as a high speed, high-precision
video D/A conversion. The RGB luminance and color difference
signals are processed without loss of its original purity.
The unique combination of CD-R/RW playback, HDCD
compatibility, MP3 playback and playback of DVD-Video and

HDCD playback

Pacific Microsonics has developed a comprehensive digital audio
technology that realizes the full potential of digital audio
recordings. HDCD (High Definition Compatible Digital) is a
patented encode/decode process for delivering on Compact
Discs and DVD-audio the full richness and detail of the original
microphone feed. Compared to 16-bits for all other CDs,
HDCD encoded CD's sound better because they are encoded
with 20-bits of real musical information. HDCD overcomes the
limitation of the 16-bit CD format by using a sophisticated
system to encode the additional four bits onto the CD, while
remaining completely compatible with the existing CD format.
HDCD provides increased dynamic range, a more focused 3-D
soundstage and extremely natural vocals and musical timbre.
With HDCD, you get the body, depth and emotion of the
original performance.

Exceptional audio resolution and dynamic range

Complementing its unmatched video quality, the Marantz
DV6200 is engineered for high-end audio performance,
featuring 96kHz/24-bit audio D/A converters with true 96/24
digital audio output for exceptional clarity and wide dynamic
range. The DV6200 is equipped with a high-end audio board
and extensive shielding. Intensive research in the performance
and construction of electronic component selection result in
musical detail, imaging and tonal accuracy Marantz is famous
for.

NTSC playback on PAL TV sets

Elementary differences between the American NTSC and the
European PAL signal, causes problems for many European
vision products. Therefore Marantz is offering full compatibility.
The synchronisation frequency is altered to European standards,
making the picture suitable for PAL TV sets.

MP3 playback

Compressed audio is becoming more popular every day.
Logical if you consider that 10 hours of music easily will fit
on a single CD, when the music is compressed using MP-3
technology. The Marantz DV6200 is able to playback such
encoded discs, giving you many hours of musical pleasure and
fine sound quality.

Digital outputs for external (multichannel) decoding

The DV6200 provides playback of any multichannel
information available on DVD-Video discs, via an external
decoder. Most widely used are of course DD and DTS.
Dolby Digital is an advanced form of digital audio coding that
makes it possible to store and transmit high-quality digital
sound far more efficiently than was previously possible.
First used in movie theaters in 1992, it is the result of decades
of research spent by Dolby Laboratories, developing signal­processing systems that exploit the characteristics of human
hearing. Dolby Digital provides six channels of crystal clear
digital surround sound.
Apart from the Dolby Digital information, DVD software can
also contain Digital Theater System (DTS) audio information.
The compressed digital information offers five fully independent
high quality channels together with a sixth subwoofer channel.
DTS offers superb live experience and adds breathtaking effects
to film.

Ease of use

The DV6200 comes with a wide variety of playback function to
ensure maximum operational convenience. Its has playback
functions such as pause, resume play, slow play, repeat play and
program play. The DV6200 offers parental control and a screen
saver function along with an extensive array of navigation and
picture search modes such as, zoom, repeat, random and
program. All functions can be easily controlled via its
multi-language on-screen menu, remote control and intuitive
front-panel control layout. The DV6200 is also compatible with
CD-R, CD-RW and Video CD discs and music playback from a
single MP3-encoded CD disc, which delivers up to 10 hours of
continues music. It includes Scart (RGB), S-video and
composite video outputs, along with optical and coaxial digital,
and analog audio connectivity.

D.Bus

To optimise equipment in terms of ease of use, Marantz has
designed the D.Bus system. Individual devices inform each
other, in order to automatically tune to the customers demands.
At the same time received remote control commands are
communicated via this bus. This enables equipment without
IR-receiver, like a cassette deck or tuner, to be controlled via a
Marantz Remote control.
