Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If appliance is not wor
king as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to a service center.
• Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or cor ners. Do not run cleaner over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
• Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and all parts of the body away from ope nings and moving parts. Do not put any objects into openings or use with opening blocked. Keep openings free of dust, lint, hair, and anything else that could re du ce the flow of air.
Do not use in outside areas at low temperature.

• Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, mat ches or hot ashes.
• Do not use without dust bag and/or filters in place.
To reduce the risk of personal injury due to a loose electrical connection between the appliance’s plug and extension cord, firmly and fully attach the appliance plug to the extension cord. Periodically check the connection while operating to ensure it is fully attached. Do not use an extension cord that provides a loose connection. A loose connection may result in overheating, fire, an

increases the risk of a burning.
• For double insu la tion use only identical re pla ce ment parts. See instructions for ser vi cing double insulated appliances.
• For a portable commercial appliance, portable outdoor use appliance,: For outdoor use appliances: To reduce the risk of electr
ic shock, use only with an extension cord intended for outdoor use, such as SJW or SJTW.
• Make sure your extension cord is in good condition and is the correct size for your appliance. Table below shows the correct size to use depending on cord length and nameplate ampere rating. If in

doubt, use the next heavier gage. The smaller the gage number, the heavier the cord. An undersized extension cord will cause a drop in line voltage resulting in loss of power and overheating.
• For grounded appliances: Use only three-wire outdoor extension cords that have three-prong grounding plugs and grounding receptacles that accept the appliance’
s plug.
• To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, please read and follow all safety instructions and caution markings before use. This vacuum cleaner is designed to be safe when used for cleaning functions as specified. Should damage occur to electrical or mechanical parts, the cleaner and / or accessory should be repaired by a competent service station or the manufacturer before use in order to avoid further damage to the machine or physical injury to the user.
Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
• If the cleaner is not working properly or has been dropped, da ma ged, left out doors, or dropped into water, re turn it to a service center or dealer.
• Operators shall be adequately instructed on the use of these machines.

1.5 Electrical connection
WARNING
• The upper section of the machine contains live components. Contact with live components leads to serious or even fatal injuries. Never spray water on to the upper section of the machine.
• Do not handle plug or appliance with wet hands.
• The vacuum cleaner must not be used if the electrical cable or plug show any sign of damage. Regularly inspect the cable and the plug for damage. If this becomes damaged, it should be repaired only by Makita or an authorised Makita Service Dealer, in order to avoid a hazard.
• If grounded products should malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. If the appliance is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor and grounding plug. The plug must be inserted into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances. Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or service person if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the appliance – if it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. For a grounded, cord-connected appliance rated less than 15 A and intended for use on a nominal 120-V supply circuit. This appliance is for use on a nominal 120-V circuit and has a grounding attachment plug that looks like the plug illustrated in sketch A in Figure 20. Make sure that the appliance is connected to an outlet having the same configuration as the plug. No adaptor should be used with this appliance.
• A double-insulated appliance is marked with one or more of the following: The words “DOUBLE INSULATION” or “DOUBLE INSULATED” or the double insulation symbol (square within a square). In a double-insulated appliance, two systems of insulation are provided instead of grounding. No grounding means is provided on a double-insulated appliance, nor should a means for grounding be added to the appliance. Servicing a double-insulated appliance requires extreme care and knowledge of the system, and should be done only by qualified service personnel. Replacement parts for a double-insulated appliance must be identical to the parts they re-

place.
• For double-insulated appliances: To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other) and will require the use of a polarized extension cord. The appliance plug will fit into a polarized extension cord only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the extension cord, reverse the plug. If the plug still does not fit, obtain a correct polarized extension cord.
A polarized extension cord will require the use of a polarized wall outlet. This plug will fit into the polarized wall outlet only one way
. If the plug does not fit fully into the wall outlet, r
everse the plug. If the plug still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper wall outlet. Do not change the equipment plug, tension cord receptacle, or extension cord plug in any way
ex-
.
• To reduce the risk of disconnection of the appliance cord from the extension cord during operating: Make a knot as shown in Figure
• It is recommended that the machine should be connected via a residual current circuit breaker.
• Arrange the electrical parts (sockets, plugs and couplings) and lay down the extension lead so that the protection class is maintained.
• Connectors and couplings of power supply cords and extension leads must be watertight.
• Maintain Appliance With Care – Inspect extension cords periodically and replace if damaged.
Do not unplug by pulling on cable. To unplug, grasp the plug,
not the cable. The plug must always be removed from the socket outlet before starting any service or repair work of the machine or the cable.
• In no circumstances should the power supply cord be wrapped around fingers or any part of the operators person.

• hot materials (burning cigarettes, hot ash, etc.)
• flammable, explosive, aggressive liquids (e.g. petrol, solvents, acids, alkalis, etc.)
• flammable, explosive dust (e.g. magnesium or aluminium dust, etc.)
1.7 HEPA
WARNING
• This vacuum meets the EPA lead related Renovations, Repair and Painting rule of HEPA vacuums only if the HEPA main filters are installed.
• HEPA filters captures 99,97% of all particles greater or equal to 0,3 microns. For additional uses, please refer to the applicable regulations.
1.8 OSHA
To ensure compliance under the OSHA standard for Occupational Exposure to Respirable Crystalline Silica (RULE 29 CFR 1926.1153), verify that any engineer controls (components used with the dust extractor such as dust extraction attachments, connectors & hoses) are used per manufacturer instructions and are securely attached to a Makita extractor/vacuum.
NOTE: Reference the OSHA standards of Exposure to Respirable Silica Dust (RULE 29 CFR 1926.1153) to ensure compliance. All OSHA requirements can be found at www.osha.gov
1.9 Maintenance
Remove the plug from the socket before performing maintenance. Before using the machine make sure that the frequency and voltage shown on the rating plate correspond with the mains voltage.
The machine is designed for continuous heavy work. Depending on the number of running hours – the dust filter should be renewed. Keep the machine clean with a dry cloth, and a small amount of spray polish.
During maintenance and cleaning, handle the machine in such a manner that there is no danger for maintenance staff or other persons. In the maintenance area
Use filtered compulsory ventilation.
Wear protective clothing.
