A separate DVD player or game system utilizing the center console’s video/audio inputs is required in order to use the split-screen function of the dual-screen system . 16. The incl uded Dr iver Atten tion Mon itor is design ed to alert the driver if a potent ial hazard is detect ed ahead and the driver ’s face appears to be turned awa y. They are not collision- avoidance sys tems and are not substitu tes for safe and attenti ve driving. Syste m effective ness depends on many fa ctors. See Owner’s Manual for further information. 18. Trail er Sway Con trol (T SC) is an el ectron ic syste m design ed to help the drive r mainta in vehic le contro l under a dverse c onditi ons. It is not a subst itute for safe dri ving pra ctices . Factor s inclu ding spe ed, roa d conditions and driver steering in put can all affect whether TSC will be ef fective in preventing a loss of control. See Owner’s Manual for det ails. 19. T he Smart Access sys tem may inter fere with so me pacema kers or cardi ac defibri llators. I f you have one of
these medic al devices, please tal k to your doctor to see if you shoul d deactivate this system . 20. The engine immobilizer is a state-o f-the-art anti-t heft system. When yo u insert your key into the ign ition switch or bring a S martAccess fob into th e vehicle,
the key transmits an electronic code to the vehicle. The engine will only start if the code in the transponder chip inside the key/fob matches the code in the vehicle’s immobilizer. Because the transponder chip is embedded in the key/fob, it can be costly to replac e. If you lose a key or fob, your Lexus dealer ca n help. Alternat ively, you can find a qualifi ed independ ent locksmith to per form high-s ecurity key ser vices by consultin g your local Yellow Pages or by contacting www.aloa.org. 21. Dynamic Radar Cruise Control i s designed to a ssist the dri ver and is not a su bstitute for s afe and atten tive drivin g practices . See Owner’s Manual for detai ls. 22.
