Subject: Safety Related Recall Campaign - Airbag Sensors
Background
Investigations by /H[XVhave determined that a requirement exists for the initiation of a Safety Recall Campaign to inspect and rectify
if necessary a condition possibly affecting the Airbag Sensors on a range of Lexus NX vehicles sold in Australia.
Description of Problem
The subject vehicles are equipped with an airbag system that uses multiple sensors to detect impact in the event of a crash.
Due to two separate manufacturing issues, there is a possibility that the insulation layers of the IC chips could peel over time,
creating an open circuit in the IC chip.
If this occurs, the airbag warning light will illuminate. Additionally, the side/curtain shield airbags and/or front airbags, may
become deactivated.
Non-deployment of the side/curtain shield airbags and/or front airbags could increase the risk of injury to the occupants in the
event of a crash.
Involved Vehicles
A total of 1,386 Lexus NX vehicles involved in the Australian market.
Notes:
1/ Although the involved vehicles are within the above VIN ranges, not all vehicles in these ranges were sold in the Australian
