A Complete Network Storage Solution
With room enough to store up to 96TB of data in an
accessible, expandable, reliable 12-disk storage solution, the
LaCie 12big Rack Network provides a way to get both block
and network-attached storage in just one box. It supports
six RAID modes (RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, and 50), offers full
redundancy on almost all hardware elements, and features
dual 1Gb/s Ethernet connections. With many customizable
features, including support for 500+ users, this highpowered, full-featured storage solution is the ideal addition
to any corporate network or branch office.
Scalability Without Tradeoff
Powered by a hardware RAID controller that pulls away
resource-demanding RAID parity calculations from the
processor, it can easily scale up without affecting performance
and still guarantee the same level of data protection. If you
run short on storage, just connect up to three 12big Rack
Serials through the Mini SAS expansion port to instantly
quadruple the number of drives. The XOR engine can manage
the extra RAID calculations, and the Xeon processor can
successfully handle the increasing number of file serving
requests, guaranteeing a successful scaleup in storage and
users without a drop in performance.
Mac® Compatibility
The 12big Rack Network offers full Macintosh compatibility,
resolving any file sharing problems in mixed architecture. You
can directly store data on the 12big Rack Network using AFP
protocol. Additionally, it supports Active Directory and single signon, automatic reconnect, long passwords, specific Macintosh file
naming policies, and quick file searching (including full content
searching) with Network Spotlight, all with minimal impact on
server performance. An innovative Time Machine® capability
provides self-service backup for Mac clients with adjustable
quotas on the amount of backup space used for individual
users. With the 12big Rack Network, IT professionals finally
have the ability to integrate Mac computer into Windows-based
infrastructure efficiently and effectively.

With its hardware RAID controller, its Quad-Core Intel
Xeon processor, server-class motherboard, and enterprise
class drives, it successfully stores and protects your
business-critical data. In addition, we test every single
enclosure for 24 hours prior to being shipped, so you
can be assured that you’re receiving the highest quality
storage, helping your data stay safe and secure.
Flexible and Adaptable
The LaCie 12big Rack Network can serve as a file or
block sharing appliance. It supports both SMB and NFS
file protocols, it can be used as an iSCSI target. With its
two Ethernet ports and highest-grade components, it
can successfully share critical files while also successfully
functioning as a dedicated, direct-attached storage device
that can be part of an IP SAN or an iSCSI target for
applications that demand high bandwidth.
An Enterprise-Level OS
The LaCie 12big Rack Network is powered by Windows®
Storage Server 2008 Standard Edition. Among its many
great features on the file level is Single Instance Storage
(SIS), which provides data deduplication. With SIS, your
organization can get up to 40% of its existing disk space
back, so you’ve got less data to back up, which in turn
increases backup speeds.
Redundant and Reliable
The LaCie 12big Rack Network’s multiple redundant
fans and power supply can be replaced on the fly. In
addition, the OS is stored on two RAID 1-protected
drives for complete redundancy and easier maintenance.
The 12big Rack Network’s hardware RAID controller
and its XOR engine also provide extremely fast RAID
initialization and rebuild time, resulting in the 12big Rack
Network's improved reliability.
