Firmware upgrade (Main v4.00/Enhancement v1.12)
Creation Date: 17/01/2011
Content of changes
1 The Elatec ID Card Reader is now supported.
2 The digital “Digital Dot Coverage” label at the service status page has been changed to “Print Coverage”.
• The coverage is converted with the area image ratio based on the current dot number data, and the accuracy of the reference value of the toner consumption is improved.
The Digital Dot Coverage data is reset because the calculation method has been
changed after upgrading the rmware.
3 Maintenance mode U010 (Set Maintenance Mode ID) has been added to change the ID.
4 The UG-34/Upgrade kit (Additional support kit for emulation) is now supported.
5 Added support for the Pantone colour matching system.
6 Phenomenon
The paper may wrap around the fuser unit when paper jam 51 occurs. (Misfeed in job separator section)
Cause
The paper may bump against the previous sheet due to the long jam timer. Under this condition the rear edge of the paper may enter the fuser unit, and wrap around the fuser roller.
Solution
The jam timer has been decreased.
7 In rare cases the “Toner empty“ message may be displayed while the “Toner near end“ message is skipped.
8 The MODE0 that reviews the T7 disposal amount from MODE1 has been added to maintenance mode U147.
9 Maintenace mode U464 has been changed to prevent colour doughnut dots on the image.
10 The developer drive time has been decreased to prevent deterioration of the carrier/toner.
11 The measure to prevent the drum cleaning failure has been improved.
12 The measure to prevent colour background on the image has been implemented.
13 The measure to prevent the Primary transfer belt cleaning failure has been implemented.
14 The Fax scanner counter has been changed.
15 Phenomenon
Error code C710x (Toner sensor problem (X is each colour)) may occur when cassette 1 or 2 is partially inserted in the machine.
Cause
The controller detects the paper in the paper cassette and starts to direct the printing process (Drive start). The engine can not execute the printing process since the applicable paper cassette can not be detected (Drive stop). Under this condition the toner in the developing unit is consumed due to the continuous drive start and stop, caused by the communication between the controller and the engine. The Engine will also check the remaining paper signal when detecting the drawer connection in the situation the drawer can not be detected the remaining paper quantity will be set to “0”.
Solution
The remaining paper detection will be informed to the Engine if the applicable paper cassette is detected by the drawer connector in the cassette. When the paper cassette is not detected by the drawer connector, the residual quantity of the paper will be set to “0”.

Solution
The power saving key will remain inactive for 15 seconds after turning ON the machine.
17 The processing or print failure may occur when printing Excel les.
18 The image may appear as a mosaic pattern when printing Illustrator les from the Macintosh computer.
19 Error code CF46F may occur during the sending of the print data when printing PowerPoint les.
20 The image may appear as a mosaic pattern when printing Illustrator les from the Macintosh computer.

print job.
Cause
The PCL command is improperly processed after turning ON the machine.
