Safety Operations and Use

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS for your Keurig B1000 Brewer:

1. Read all instructions.

2. Do not touch hot surfaces.

3. To protect against electric shock, do not place cords, plugs or appliance in

water or other liquid.

4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.

5. Unplug from outlet before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking

off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.

6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the

appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any matter.

7. The use of an accessory not evaluated for use with this appliance may cause

injuries.

8. Do not use outdoors.

9. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.

10. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.

11. Do not use appliance for other than intended use.

12. During operation, water fill door should remain closed. The fill door is

designed with a self closing safety spring. Do not defeat or disassemble this

spring.

Your Keurig brewer includes: 1) a control panel that controls operation and shows you the
status of your brewer, and 2) a water tube that shows the amount of water and water system
status.

Brew Button

Pressing the Brew Button starts the brew cycle.

Before pressing the Brew Button, be sure:

• Cup / Mug is placed on the drip plate.

• K-Cup® is set properly in the K-Cup holder.

• Drawer is closed and GREEN ready light is flashing (GREEN ready light will flash for 60 seconds).

Custom Brew™ by Keurig

Want a stronger, more intense coffee taste? Try Custom Brew™ by Keurig. Custom Brew
allows you to customize your coffee experience, resulting in a more intense cup (less than
the standard 8 oz.).

• Custom Brew can be activated by either: pressing and holding the Green “Brew”

button for 20 seconds, or;

• Pressing the Green “Brew” button once and then pressing it again any time after

20 seconds has passed from the first pressing.

Drip Tray and Exit Needle Cleaning Tool

The drip tray can accumulate up to eight ounces of overflow. It should be periodically in­spected and rinsed clean. To remove the tray, simply slide the tray toward you, keeping it
level at all times, to avoid spilling.

On the underside of the drip tray you will find a tool that is designed for cleaning the exit
needle, should a clog arise. The exit needle is located on the inside bottom of the K-Cup
Holder. Please refer to the Care and Maintenance section for specific instructions on using
this tool.

K-Cup®

Cleaning tool

The Brewer operates with a patented, single serve portion pack called the K-Cup. The K-Cup
contains an individual serving of freshly ground specialty coffee. The coffee is nitrogen­sealed in the K-Cup to preserve freshness for at least six months. This portion pack should
not be opened, punctured or reused.

Brew Drawer

The brew drawer is manually operated and located on
the brewer front.

Pull out brew drawer.

Place K-Cup in K-Cup holder, foil side up. DO NOT

REMOVE FOIL LID OR PUNCTURE THE K­CUP.

Close brew drawer fully, until the drawer catch detent
is felt. Flashing green ready light indicates full closure
of the drawer and the B1000 is ready to brew.

Brewer Setup

To operate your new Keurig brewer, please follow these instructions. Also follow these instruc­tions if you emptied the brewer of water (for example to move it) before operating it again.

Step 1. Remove tape from drip tray/plate and place drip tray/plate

at the base and in front of the brewer.

Step 2. If desired, prepare the charcoal filter provided.

(The filter will remove chlorine found in municipal water)

• Remove filter from bag

• Run filter under cold water for 1 minute

• Place filter in water fill area of brewer (see Figure 1)

Step 3. Be sure power switch is “OFF”, then plug in the brewer.

• Plug into a 3 pronged grounded receptacle

• Avoid sharing outlet with other appliances

Step 4. Turn “ON” power switch found on rear of brewer. The blue water column light in the fill
tube will be flashing, indicating that the brewer needs water. Fill the water pitcher provided with cold
water and fill the brewer up to 80 oz on initial fill (the regular refill quantity is 64 oz). When the
brewer is full it is indicated by four audible beeps and the green Ready light will flash four times.

Step 5. The red “Not Ready” light indicates that the brewer is not

ready (the water is heating). Wait for 8- 10 minutes. The green
“Ready” light will illuminate when the water is heated.

Step 6. The K-Cup holder is shipped in the water pitcher. Insert
the K-Cup holder in the brew drawer; press and snap into place.

(see Figure 2)

Step 7. Perform a “Cleansing Brew”

• Open and close brew drawer

• Place a mug on the drip plate

• Press the green “Brew” button

• Hot water will dispense into

mug (water should be discarded)

Initial Fill and Heat

Step 9. Now you are ready to brew your first cup of coffee.

• Open the brew drawer

• Insert your favorite K-Cup into the holder and close

brew drawer (see Figure 3)

• Please do not open foil lid on K-Cup

• Place a mug on the drip plate

• Press the green “Brew” button

• Enjoy your first cup of Keurig Brewed® coffee!

Brewing Instructions

1. Determine that the GREEN Ready light
is on.

3. Select a K-Cup of your choice. Do not
remove foil lid or puncture the K-Cup.

4. Pull out the brew drawer.

5. Place the K-Cup, foil side up, into the
K-Cup holder in the opened brew
drawer.

2. Place your cup or mug on the drip
tray.

6. Push in the brew drawer (GREEN light
will now flash).

7. Press the Brew button, the GREEN Brew
light will illuminate while brewing.

8. When the Green light turns off, remove
cup. Enjoy.

9. Open brew drawer and remove and dis­pose of used K-Cup.

10. Brewer is ready for the next cup.

Care and Maintenance

Draining / Storage

Draining your Keurig brewer:

You can drain the water reservoir in your Keurig brewer if you want to move it, or simply change the water. To

drain your Keurig brewer, please follow these instructions:

Step 1. Turn power “OFF” and unplug the brewer. Let it sit for a minimum of 2-3 hours to allow water to cool.

Step 2. Remove the drain cap on rear of brewer. Rest the rear of the brewer flat on the counter with the drain

positioned over the sink and allow brewer to drain. (Caution: Water may still be hot!)

Important: Do not tip brewer past horizontal or upside down

as this could cause warm or hot water to splatter.

Step 3. Once water is drained, replace the drain cap. Your B1000 is now ready to be moved or refilled

General Cleaning

Regular cleaning of the brewer’s external components is recommended for proper operation.
The K-Cup holder and funnel, drip plate and drip tray are dishwasher safe.

Exterior

Cover may be cleaned with a suitable cleaning compound and a non-abrasive cloth. Clean all
other components with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly.

Caution: Please insure that no cleaners / cleaning solutions are used in or near the fill
area as this may contaminate your water supply.

Also, be sure to keep all sharp instruments away from the touch pad on the front of the
B1000.

Care and Maintenance

Cleaning the Exit Needle

• To clean the exit needle, first locate

the exit needle cleaning tool, which
is on the underside of the drip tray.

• Remove the tool.

• Remove the K-Cup holder by press-

ing on the underside of the holder.

• Open the brew drawer and remove

the K-Cup holder.

• Using cleaning tool, clean the exit

needle, clearing any debris.

• Now, reassemble unit by placing the K-Cup holder back into place. Please ensure that the K-Cup
holder is in position.

• Replace exit needle cleaning tool into its housing on the bottom of the drip tray.

• The B1000 is now ready to use.

Accessories

These accessories are available for your Keurig B1000.

Water Filter

A pour over activated charcoal water filter ac­cessory may be used with your Keurig B1000. If
you’re not using purified water, then we highly
recommend the activated charcoal water filter. It
will provide you with a better cup of coffee and
prolong the life of your Keurig B1000.

Installing the Water Filter

Note: Please remove filter from plastic bag and rinse under tap water prior to installation.

To install filter, open lid on top of B1000. Place the filter in the opening.

Replacement Schedule: To maintain optimal performance the water filter for your
B1000 should be replaced after it has filtered 35 gallons or at 6 month intervals, which­ever comes first. Keurig authorized distributors can order replacements through Keurig
Customer Service, 1.888.CUP.BREW, referencing part # 76-000107-001.
