before using for the first time

1 Remove all packaging. 2 Wash the parts: see ‘care and cleaning’, page 4. 3 Push excess flex inside the back of the machine. 4 Run two lots of water through the machine (without coffee) to clean it

out. Fill the tank to the top cup mark when you do this. See ‘to make coffee’.

1 Push either the water tank block or the water filter cartridge firmly

into the hole inside the water tank

. You must fit one of these.

If you use the water filter cartridge, immerse it in water for 10 minutes first to remove any air bubbles.

●

It’s best to use the water filter cartridge - it produces better coffee and prevents limescale. But make sure you change it every month: set the cartridge life indicator to the time it’ll next need changing. (The letters on the dial stand for the months of the year.)

2 Pour water into the tank. The water must be between the top and

bottom cup marks. Then close the lid.

●

Use cold water. Never use warm or fizzy water.

●

If you use the jug to fill the tank, look at the tank marks, not the jug marks. They’re slightly different to allow for the fact that some of the water gets absorbed by the coffee.

3 Open the filter door  and insert the filter holder  4 Insert either the permanent filter , or a paper filter. Add the

coffee (approximately 1 rounded dsp/7g per cup). Then close the filter door.

5 Put the lid on the jug . Then put the jug on the hotplate. 6 Adjust the strength control to taste  7 Set the quantity selector . This adjusts the hotplate temperature. 8 Plug in and switch on. The light will come on. 9 Don’t remove the jug until brewing has finished. The hotplate will

keep your coffee hot, but the sooner you drink it, the better it will taste.

10 When the jug’s empty, switch off. Let the machine cool down before

cleaning.

If you haven’t used the machine for a week, run one lot of water through it (without coffee) to clean it out. Fill the tank to the top cup mark when you do this. Don’t remove the water filter cartridge or flow control block.















If you’re using this instead of the flow control block, change it every month. To remove it, twist and pull. For replacement water filter cartridges see ‘service and customer care’ page 5.

The parts below (except the body) are dishwasher safe.

Push the lid off . Wash, then dry.

Wash, then dry. The flow control block only needs washing

and flow control block occasionally.

Wipe with a damp cloth, then dry. Don’t use abrasives - they’ll scratch the plastic.

1 Remove it: open, lift, then unslot the bottom  2 Wash, then dry.

descaling

●

If you use the flow control block instead of a water filter cartridge, you’ll occasionally need to descale. You’ll know when limescale has built up because your coffee will take longer to come through.

1 Buy a suitable descaler. 2 Fit the flow control block, not a water filter cartridge. 3 Descale the machine. 4 After descaling, run several lots of water through the machine to clean

it out. Fill the tank to the top cup mark when you do this. If you decide to use a water filter cartridge, fit it

after this cleaning stage.

5 Wash the parts.





Voordat u het apparaat voor de eerste keer gebruikt
