PREPARATION
1. Cover front fender to avoid damage.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
Install Clamps
ote:Stud of clamp (2) is offset to the inside of downtube

install a clamp to the down tube as shown in figure 2. Repeat on opposite side.
For Model VN900 Classic/LT
On the right side of motorcycle remove the forward bolt

from right floorboard bracket.

2. Carefully position the engine guard between the fender
and frame with the lower mounting tabs in line with the floorboard bracket
3. Install right side using stock bolt removed in step 1. Do not tighten. Allow engine guard to rest against covered fender.
4. Repeat for left side. Do not tighten yet.
For Model VN900 Custom
1. Remove the forward 10 x 30 mm bolts from the left and
right footpeg brackets and carefully position the engine guard between the fender and frame with the lower mount­ing tabs in line with the footpeg brackets.
2. Apply a small amount of Loctite® #243 or similar thread locker and replace the original right side bolt but do not tighten at this time.
3. On the left side of the motorcycle substitute the original bolt with the supplied 10 x 45 mm bolt from bag 838 but first apply a small amount of Loctite® #243 or similar thread locker to the threads. Do not tighten bolt.

For Model VN900 Classic/LT and VN900 Custom
1. Swing engine guard up and secure top of bar to right
and left clamps using the M8 cap nuts with a small amount of Loctite® #243 or similar thread locker product applied to the nut. (3). Adjust clamps if necessary.
Tighten the floorboard or footpeg bolts to 34-37 Nm (25-

3. Tighten the 8 x 60 mm scre
ws on the clamps to 14-19 Nm (10-13 ft-lb) then finally tighten the 8 mm flange nuts to 14-19 Nm (10-13 ft-lb).
CLEANING
Clean the bracket with mild soap and water. Do not use hard abrasive cleaners.
